Dvd Update The Wonder Years Holiday Episodes

I'm 31 and grew up watching this show with my parents, themselves a product of the 60's. By far my favorite show hands down and it's a damn shame they won't release a DVD set because of the music copyrights! They don't make programs like this anymore.

Just came across this video... The Wonder years is my all-time favorite TV show as well! Each and every episode is amazing in my opinion. I have wanted this DVD for so long, but as you said, it is extremely expensive. There is another official release but it only contains a clip show and the finale I believe. It's awesome to find out you are a Wonder Years fan too!

There were 2 DVD releases that were official and legit. The Christmas special and the Highlights or Best of DVD. Released the same year, which I think is 1999. The discs which say 2001 I do believe were released in a different country to the original 1997. The DVDs were both released in USA and Canada only.

Hey man that ent the original DVD!! The original DVD is copyright dated 1997, yours like mine is dated 2001.. i've got the other one as well.. the highlights special.. its dated (on the DVD) 1997 and this other ol boy on ebay sent me pics of his copy of xmas special and his the orignal. Mine is dated 1999 on the back of the case but 2001 on the actual dvd itself.

It is current with the amazon listing of this dvd though, which has a release date of ;

DVD Release Date: July 24, 1999 .

What is the highlights special? Ive never heard of that one, are you sure the highlights one is an official release?

there are two official releases of The Wonder Years on DVD. The first is a "highlights"special and the second is a Christmas special DVD. Both released in 1997, both do not have the official music and are quite hard to get a hold of. Although, saying that, I managed to get the Christmas one just yesterday for 20 quid, f*cking bargain. I've owned the other one for a few years now. So i finally have both of em. Corey Haim DVDs are becoming more expensive

love this show. i know what you mean by releasing tv shows. tons of old shows that need to be released on dvd. the main ones i think are Pete and Pete, Clarissa Explains it All, Hey Dude!, and other ones from that time. Wonder years and boy meets world need to be put on dvd though. Welcome back mr kotter needs to as well. I have season 1 but they stopped after that. What a rip off.

They released Pete and Pete season 1 and 2, and Clarissa Explains It All season 1 on dvd. Still no Hey Dude yet or Salute Your Shorts.

It annoys me when they release one season or two on dvd but then don't release the rest.

yeah i guess its some kind of marketing scheme. most people will buy the few they release. then have to wait forever to get the other ones and they jack up the prices because everyone has been waiting forever for them and want them.  oh today's businesses.

She said something interesting about Winnie although not controversial. I'd mention it but I guess I'm reluctant to share such things online. These things can always come back to bite people and I'm not really into making peoples lives difficult even when they have moved on. Anyway as I said it wasn't so bad at all if you think about Winne what do u think she might have been like at that time if you were close or working with her.....sorry no big deal was just interesting as I said. I loved that show and made me think of the time i met the mother forget her name she was sitting at a table beside us at a restaurant in Berlin back in July 90 we had all been to the Wall at the Wall concert in postdamer platz. I said I thought Winnie was hot but looking back was probably not very appropriate to say. Her response was interesting. Anyway was great to meet her seeing how much I liked the show. I guess we wont see the show on DVD here in Australia either for the same reasons.

I hope one day they will be able to resolve all the copywrite issues and get an official relese on dvd, but right now it doesnt look good :/.

@Absolutsublime1 i aucitually ordered a complete collection online from someone that literially took all the episodes that were origionally aired, and digitially put them on dvds. they look great and ive got every episode

Im still waiting for a legitimate studio release, but I suppose something like that could hold me over seeing as there is no official release in sight due to music copyright issues.

It's sad that they will never release the wonder years shows on dvd's due to the rights It's so lame! The only way to watch those shows is on tv, which it's not currently being shown sooo disapointed!!

I doubt that they will ever release the seasons 1-6 on dvd because of it's music rights. I really hate that the show has to fork out tons of money in order for us to go out, and purchase their boxed sets of their shows. The only option is on television which is not currently being shown right now!

I have heard that it is most likely that they won't be releasing any of the seasons 1 through 6 because of it's music rights. All the great songs that were being played in epsidoes, the show would have to pay tons of money to release the dvds. I'm so mad that they would never release it. The only way to watch it is on tv!!

The Wonder Years is my absolute favourite show of all time.

I still have 4 vhs video's of it that I recorded, I think I'm gonna watch it again one of these days.

Well there isnt an official release of the full set yet, so this is the only official/ legitamate release of Wonder Years.

Once the whole series is released I will definitely purchase it. I think this dvd is worth it , definitely brings back memories of my favorite show.

Thanks! However I would say see if you can find it at a reasonable price, there are only a couple episodes on here and this dvd goes for rather high but occassionally you can find it for cheaper.

the wonder years was good. i hate it when they release an old show with different songs than you remember. some of the "get a life" dvds didn't have r.e.m.'s "stand" during the opening credits and i was heartbroken. i heard the new dvds for "the state" don't have a lot of the original songs in them, either, and that is such a bummer to me. great video!

I enjoyed friends as well, and x-files, twilight zone, cheers, mash, seinfeld. Those were my favorites. Not too many good shows on these days in my opinion, I like Rescue Me, Scrubs even though Im not sure if it is coming back for another season or not.

Hey there dude, I LOVED the Wonder Years, and you are right they should come out with the series on DVD... I would so buy that ASAP! Here are a couple shows I would like to see on DVD. They only released a few episodes just like the Wonder Years, dont know why they havent released the whole serries yet.

I love that show. I was exactly the same age as Kevin during the series when it was on so I was experiencing some of the same things at the time and it was really enjoyable to watch. I too have been patiently waiting for the DVD but I know the music is the issue and it really needs to have the music, maybe someday we will have it.

I didn't think there was a big fan like me about The Wonder Years. lol I did happen to buy the bootleg dvds which weren't that bad since it's not on tv right now so it'll do. Alicia Silverstone was also in the show btw. =) That christmas special dvd that you have must have cost about $200 or so. Which is why I haven't bought it yet =D Does it come with extras or anything? Well by far this is my fav show.They sure don't make tv like this anymore. =/

Are you kidding? There are tonsss of big fans of the Wonder Years, and we're all waiting for an official release of the series which Im worried at this point may never happen due to legal battles over copyright for the music. I remember her in it! I think she was just in one episode though. Remember Becky Slater? She was actually Danica Mckellar's real life sister.

It doesnt have any special features or anything, just the episodes, unless there are easter eggs/hidden features that Im not aware.

I fully agree they don't make tv like that anymore, at this point I may have to look into getting the bootleg of the complete series or try downloading it somewhere because I would love to be able to watch it at my leisure. They used to have the reruns on tv but I dont think they do anymore :(. The dvd was very expensive, that's all I'll say about that ha, but it was my favorite tv show so I broke down for it.
