When you go to war, unfortunately innocents are victimized. That is an awful thing. Once New York,Shanksville and Washington,D.C. were attacked, the US was going to retaliate. If 9/11 had not taken place we would not be in those countries.

I must say, historically the U.S. has been really good at killing civilians from other countries. So 3,000 lost is a good price to pay for all our transgressions overseas. When you go to war, unfortunately innocents are victimized. That is an awful thing. Once New York,Shanksville and Washington,D.C. were attacked, the US was going to retaliate. We were attacked in 1993 and when the USS Cole was blown up. We did nothing. The terrorists thought they could act with impunity. They found out differently. If 9/11 had not taken place we would not be in those countries.

i wish things were different but they're not. Most people in U.S., will be happy when this is over and our people can come home. We didn't want this and we can't determine what other leaders do. Look how long it took the iraqis to form a govt.. They will do as they wish when we leave; we all know that .Not much we can do about it. That's why we don't want to deal with this mess. I must say, historically the U.S. has been really good at killing civilians from other countries. So 3,000 lost is a good price to pay for all our transgressions overseas. Learn a little history about the policies the U.S. has implemented like, the Contra War (many others exist too). Plus, look up all the people we've taken in and out of power to suit our own interests like in Chile and Iran. We're also taken to supporting dictators if, again, they suit our interests like in Africa. :-)

As the worlds greatest power we have enormous resonsibilities and yes we will look after our interests and protect our citizens. Millions still want to come here and live the dream!

This country is not a land of immigrants but a Country of European Settlers occupying The North American landmass who are independent from foreign dominance or intrusion.....

If we are, I guess we can just bring our troops home,take care of things here and let the various countries of Europe take care of their own defense. Russia is set to take their place in Afghan. Once they join NATO you will be all set. Have a good time trashing Putin. The Gulag is a lot worse than anything I can think of. Germany can rearm to take care of themselves. We will be busy keeping all the illegals out.

@newtype64 Kool Aid drinker! We are welathy, we do use lots of resources but what do we do with those resources? For every dollar of oil we import "and pay for" we creat $100 in goods and services for the world economy. We grow crops more efficiently and more cost effectively than any other country, and we provide security to billions with our power projection and global reach, we are still the worlds leading manufacturer and we are one of the last bastions of upward mobility.

@TommyNawrocki We as Americans have wealth largely because we have might. Why do we have countless of military bases all over the Muslim world? Why are we constantly overthrowing governments and supporting dictators all over the world? Having control over oil producing nations is why we have such cheap oil. We produce nothing, all the American jobs have been out sourced. And we "pay for" goods with borrowed money from China and the rest of it we print.

@newtype64 Dont be stupid, the United States is still the worlds largest manufacturer and in technology we are second to none. We are also still the worlds 3rd largest producer of oil. You people need to put the debt to China in perspective. We owe China a trillion dollars yes but the sovereign wealth of the United States is over 120 trillion dollars and US companies represent 53% of world market cap! So get real!

@newtype64 We get most of our oil from Canada. What bases are you referring to? Kuwait,Saudi Arabia,Iraq,Afghanistan? Kuwait we were involved with in the Gulf War. Saudi Arabia likewise. That leaves Iraq & Afghan.
