  • @GTILOUD I agree. Russian ammo is usually bi-metal jacket hence the extreme penitration with little to no fragmentation. I want to see what you mentioned (true copper jacket) plus if your going bi metal try tulammo 154gr soft points...curious if the soft point will help deform the round.

  • damn thats like one shot kill if it hit someone...

  • Hey, how did you get your gel so clear? Beautiful! Good test too.

  • I like the 77gr Sierra matchkings, I would love to see a test with that, bullet is just slightly longer than the 5.45x39 52.9gr "poison bullet".

  • @semiautoriflelover1 what? its a 7.62x39 and only 77gr? how fast do they move? and are they more accurate than conventional 124gr?

  • Wow! look at that block jump...that's what knockdown power looks like if I ever seen it.

  • Got 1000 rounds of this the other day thinking it was FMJ... got it and it is HP. I gotta say, I'm not at all unhappy about the mixup lol.

  • I bought a bunch of these when they were $1.69 a box. My SKS never fails on Wolf ammo.

  • 00:24 HOLY SHIT!!!

  • 7.62x39 HP is very lethal. I would still prefer 5.56. Although the 7.62x39 HP is more lethal, the 5.56 has several things going for it; accuracy, manageable recoil, and more ammo in combat. When SHTF you can rest assure that 5.56(223) will be easier to find then other types of ammo.

(proud owner of an AK 5.56(223)

  • 2st shot? lol is that the 2nd shot but 1st success all rolled into one?

  • 7.62x39 ftw.

  • 5.56mm ftw.

  • Stop shooting Gumby!

  • Thats one dead towel head.

  • Now that was kool!

  • Keep pressing 4... : )

  • you wouldnt have to worry bout that being in u. its gonna go through u

  • @Pill88Dickle low speed lead poisoning! LOL

  • Works on deer, know that from experience. It did pass all the way through though.

  • Can you tell me how you made this ballistics gel?

  • That bullet would be left inside you, I don't think your body is 18 inches wide

  • lol "imagine tht inside of u, ohh ur wouldn't even feel it"

  • Was this black box or MC?

  • @Ven86 black box

  • @TheAK47nut Can you do this again but use the military classic 124hp, the 123 V-max or Z-max lol and the Winchester super-x etc. Test some more expanding fragmenting 7.62x39 ammo please sir.

  • pretty big wound track.

  • what a great video. it makes me respect my sks even more now

  • i'm impressed of this performance from wolf

  • mmmmm i love me some 7.62

  • Damn that one did a lot better than the last one. Thanks a lot for posting. I had always wondered how these would really perform. I imagine this type of the performance would be the norm, since real live targets have tougher tissue/bones than gel.

  • What brand of AK are you using?

  • @astar334 Its a SGL21

  • Look at that energy transfer!!!! The block jumps two feet in the air and the damn thing damn near exits through TWO whole blocks. I love these vids. 5.56NATO tries to be tough but 7.62x39 is a hell of a round.

  • @mbsells77 You know nothing about bullets. They both make about the same wound cavity. If you watched a vid showing each of the bullets hitting the ballistic gel you would not be able to tell which bullet was which. When the 5.56 hits it's target it keeps a higher speed while entering, but the 7.62x39 stops alot faster. That makes the 5.56 a more preferred round, because it's cheaper, less recoil, and same amount of damage. You and everyone else who gave you a thumbs up are idiots. Go learn now.

  • @bb152005 thats bullshit. The 5.56 tends to tumble more an makes more erratic wound trails. the 7.62x39mm is simply more brute power. it hits harder, transfers more energy and punches through obsticals better. They both have advantages and disadvantages. However, the 5.56 is gettin outperformed by 7.62x54mms in iraq an afganistan. to the point that our military has been brings back many 7.62 weapons an considering droppin the 5.56 in favor of a 6.8 or 6.5mm round.

  • @mbsells77 damn right buddy! i hate t see dumb asses saying that 5.56mm is better than 7.62x39mm. those guys don't know what they are talking about

  • @yurik19881 it is better

  • @amyhuk but its not. ask any veteran (who actually shouldered a rifle... air force, navy, 98% of the army and 95% of the marines dont count) what intermediate cartridge rifle they buy as soon as they get out of the military. your answer will always be something that fires 7.62x39

  • @dammitcrap i have both. trust me its better

  • @amyhuk as do i... its not :D. i can roll 250 lb hogs with single shots out of my sks with hp's and they are dead whenever i get there. whenever i hit them with a 5.56 or .223 they scream and run... and i usually have to hit them in the head with an extra round once i find them. and before you talk about shot placement i will tell you the 5.56 always hit the poa a lot closer than the 7.62. the 5.56 has its place... but taking down anything bigger than a dog is not it.

  • @dammitcrap then you are using the wrong amo

  • @dammitcrap I have to agree. I've been out for a few years, and just managed to get around to it recently (been focusing on handguns, since concealed carry comes first for me), but my first rifle is now the 7.62x39 SGL21. Sure, I can consistently hit targets at 500 yards with iron sights out of an M16, but I really don't see myself needing to make a shot half as far as that where I'm living now...

  • @palerider1775 exactly. i can hit around 350 meters usually 27 of every 30 rounds with this same ammo (as its my personal choice) which is far more than you would ever need for any hunting/plinking purposes. and if, god forbid, i had to use it in defense, your average assailant wont stand around, they will take cover. the 5.56 fails miserably at barrier penetration

  • @dammitcrap Yeah. The penetrating power of the 7.62x39 is something that we were warned about all through training. I remember being told over and over that the bad guys can shoot us right through cinder block with the AK-47, but that we couldn't do the same with the 5.56x45. I didn't have a choice in what caliber rifle I was issued back then, but I sure as Hell do now, and I'm going to take advantage of it.

  • @palerider1775 same here. i also love the fact that the ak is the toughest rifle in the world, and you can buy one and 2000 rounds of ammo for less than you would have had to pay for a bottom of the barrel ar

  • @dammitcrap ar 15s are really nice and worth it i though down a bit under 2000 for my PWS but never regretted i will get a ak47 cause everyone should have one but the ar is a beast the nice one i mean the Ar i have uses the same piston system as a AK its called the mk116 people have shot 8500 rounds with no malfunctions and its tougher without a doubt than the AK in America which are somewhat toys

  • @deej1478 oh im not doubting that there are some fine ar on the market... but i wouldnt ever say that they are tougher than an ak and call an ak a toy. they will never be tougher no matter how reliable the piston may be. the tolerances are too tight so sand will jam them up. also it comes down to the cartridge. a 7.62 was designed for medium sized game and they can penetrate barriers that a 5.56 will shit it pants at. a 5.56 is just a beefed up coyote cartridge

  • @dammitcrap ak47s dont exist over here really only copies and the 7.62x 39 isn't a effective round only supported by people who think aks are cool and nice sure it has better power out of the barrel but doesn't have the distance and the .223 tumbles in hp and expands and this is fmj and the 7.62x39 test the guy does is wit hollow points. You dont not what you talking about with penetration 7.62x39 will penetrate barely more since any real armor both will fail against.

  • @deej1478 7.62x39 has more penetration and greater energy than 5.56. to say otherwise simply shows ignorance.

  • @dammitcrap In a battle you want the best and the 5.56 is better accuracy distance control gun and bullets. You can fire full auto with complete control on my mk116 i dont have full auto obviously but you can with the gun with zero muzzle rise you can out shoot the 7.62x39 every time at 300 yards it pierces welders steel follow up shots are right on target and the gun comes in 7.62x39 but no ones gets it's really cause it's not as effective tumbling bullets do more damage than the straight

  • @deej1478 5.56 fragments, 5.45/7.62x39 tumbles, 762x39 also has alot more energy than 5.56.

  • @dammitcrap penetrating rounds like the 7.62x39 the ONLY reason it gets a bad rep is because the U.S cant use hollow points and so the bullets over penetrate and don't do as much damage as the bad guys aks who use hollow points and any ammo they wont in the end you cant call the 5.56 anything but what it is a very effective tactical shooter while you cant argue with the AK47 being a beast up close and personal or on drive buys get .308 if you want a more powerful rifle sorry for the long respons

  • @deej1478 its not the same Piston as the AK, a low end wasr 10 will haave greater reliability than your PWS

  • @dammitcrap The 62gr Nato will go through steel much better than a standard 7.62x39 round. Why did Soviets switch to 5.45x39 if the 7.62x39 was the best man stopping round ever invented?

  • @semiautoriflelover1 you will notice i never said it was the best manstopper invented. actually, the 5.56 causes much more horrific temporary cavities than 7.62. and define standard? i use steel core 7.62 fmj, which penetrated steel/concrete better than the nato green tip fmj in my own personal research. they switched because of flatter trajectory, hence better accuracy out to longer distances, once they switched their doctrine to aimed precision fire over large volleys like they did in ak days

  • @dammitcrap The first 20 years I shot rifles all I heard was the AK fans say 7.62x39 was the best round, now all of a sudden it's this cheap poison bullet. I have a VZ58 rifle in 7.62x39, I hope to kill people with it someday and find out what happens. Of course waiting for WROL, then I will upload a video with results.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 youll never hear me say its the best round, unless we are speaking economically. im more of a .308 kinda guy. but ive seen just how bad these things can punish a man AFTER penetrating barriers we were taking cover behind, and we couldnt even hit them back until we demolished their cover first. the main selling point for me for the ak is its durability. if wrol ever occurs, i want something that will work if im unable to maintain it for weeks on end.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 oh, and just general fyi... most soviets in afghanistan switched to the 7.62x39 when they could, as a non-fragmenting .22 caliber round doesnt do much for taking an enemy out of a fight. and whats a poison bullet? is that just slang for getting lead poisoning? i cant imagine why anybody would say that, considering most people who shoot 7.62 shoot copper-cased steel cores. please enlighten me.

  • @dammitcrap in the end either bullet will kill you equally those people who survive getting shot are lucky some soldier got shot close to twenty times with a ak47 in Iraq and survived i am sure we can agree its mostly where your hit since the body is fragile thing and 7.62x39 has the power and 5.56 has the distance and accuracy this test also with the 5.56 with a fmj and the 7.62x39 a hp so huge difference in performance and if you looked at both videos an are comparing them unfair

  • You should try it at longer ranges, point blank is a bit obvious as to what will happen, but I think the slow x39 cartridge will suffer at 150yds+

  • @headphones222 well its an assault rifle.. really the max it should be shot at is 200 yards and the X39 vs .223 not 5.56 actually did better against a 5 gallon bucket mold of gel..

  • I like these videos.

  • "Imagine having that inside you"

    "You wouldnt feel it long"

    LMFAO

  • and then the vid just ends!!!!!!LOL

  • Is that Perma-Gel? The shape of the block looks like the stuff that is sold by Cabelas. If it is true ballistic gelatin, did you use Vyse or Knox? What was the temperature of the block when it was shot? Did you shoot it with a calibration BB?

  • That is astounding how much power is in a little object like that!

Now I don't have to make my own gel to test my sks's effects on, i have these videos instead

  • NICE!!!

  • It's for a ballistics class and owned by the school, it was an after thought to record it!

  • Cool, Where do you buy the gelatin?

  • @ferret6677 you dont have to buy ballistic gel, its really easy to make search on youtube how to make
