Hearing a man singing this gives it a completely different tone to hearing it sung by a woman. Certainly not in a bad way, especially when the performer is someone of the calibre of John Barrowman.

John does have a spectacular voice, and sings this beautifully, and adds a lot of drama to it. But I feel like this song is supposed to make your hurt, and the only version that does that is the original. Of all the covers I have heard.

Great rendition of a classic song. It doesn't hold a candle to Joni's version, but it's NOT John's fault as his voice is amazing here. What comes up lacking is the arrangement, which is missing Joni's "alternate"/modal/sus chords that add extra depth and tension to the overall sound.

@subron6er Joni Mitchell wrote it but it is Judy Collins' recording that brought it wide spread fame. It is a great song, making Joni Mitchell one of the great song writers of the 20th century.
