  • Love it!!! Well done!!!

  • @dwkcamman611 Thanks David! Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • the engine at 1:49 had a conrail scheme barely touched

  • @USMatman100 You're right! The #2568 was actually untouched!

  • As of October 10 2011 less than 50 are left in blue on NS

  • Thanks for the info Gavin! They'll all be gone soon.

  • at least csx is kind enough to leave the class lights alone unlike ns yanking them out

  • gotta love those old leslie conrail horns

  • I like those S3L airhorns!

  • There are 2 ex Conrail NS SD40-2 pulling the here on the Southern Tier right now!!

  • Very cool!

  • its a knife to my heart when i see big blu have merger #s

  • There aren't many Conrail units (still in blue) left on the NS roster (about 220 I think).

  • @southern7002x

The total count on NS as of March 14, 2011 is down to 110. On CSX it is only 19, and they recently put out a bulletin that said all locomotives on the roster not in a CSX paint scheme are to be repainted immediately

  • I saw that stat about NS only having 110 left in Conrail paint. I'm sure they'll be all gone bu the end of 2011. I was fortunate enough to shoot a lot of former Conrail locomotives (still blue) on both CSX and NS in the early years following the merger.

  • @southern7002x 112 now

  • What the heck was that at :25??

  • It was a former BN C30-7.

  • Do you have any more information on those things?

  • Gotta Love Conrail paired with that Ex BN Unit 5/5 I just saw that NS 8666 here in Michigan Last month

  • Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

  • You know I think Big Blue was the best thing our pathetic goverment EVER gave us.

Conrail formed because of a huge flop with Penn Central and New York Central,

The government in a way did something right for a change.

RIP Big Blue and it was nice knowing you when I was young. If they were still around I wouldn't hesitate to be a crew member of their road crews.

I miss Santa Fe, SP and roads I grew up with. If we still had them our country would be better off.

  • I miss the Southern Railway and Seaboard Coast Line, both of which ran through the town I grew up in.

  • @HyperActive7 i miss the rock island, they were and still are my all time favorite

  • Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's hard to believe the Conrail split was over ten years ago now and there are still ex-Conrail locomotives in blue.

  • My engineer buddy ran a lot of those Conrail SD80's up the W&A when they had them. Said when he was accelerating up to track speed in Emerson, it sounded like a plane taking off.

Great stuff once again, I really miss those days.
