Serious question I've been pondering: The Smiths were completely against music videos, going as far to say they'll never do a video, even after this song was released. I know the Strangeways singles had music videos that were pretty "official" but what about the videos that accompany This Charming Man and The Boy With Thorn In His Side? They couldn't be "music videos" because it would completely contradict what they said.

The bassline is the backbone of all music, obviously, this isn't an exception, but it's not that good, the bass line is pretty good but the player is mediocre. a good bassist sets the groove for the band to blissfully follow, in this band johnny marr sets the groove and the bass follows the guitar monotonously with these same lines over and over. It's always better not to be too busy or loud on bass i think.
