@longislandbassfishin they do not fit my fishing style as well as spinning. I do fish with bait casters but much more of the time I use spinning. I have landed 9 pound bass with spinning rod.
Ive fished with this rig before. Its GREAT around docks and overhangs during the summer when bass start to hold tight to cover/shade. My only complaint is that the rattle package that came with the kit I bought makes the bait fall nose-down instead of horrizontally. Doesnt seem to effect how it fishes too much though.
Spring is coming fast, and i have a question for ya Roger. Im 16, and i have limited access to good fishing spots. However, there is a lake closeby, and its only 55 surface acres. It does have a good self sustaining bass population, and i was just wondering, around mid march, where will i need to be looking for bass? Will they be up shallow, looking for beds, or is it too early? Im lost on this one man. Thanks alot. Great videos. Keep them coming.
Im not sure what difference it will make, but there is also quite a bit of pressure, from people fishing off of the bank for the trout that they stock.
Focus on the north shoreline (it gets more sun). Look for shallow wood like logs or downed trees. Fish the shady side of the wood. Also if you have shore line brush with about two feet of water try that. look for areas like small bays on the north shore. The water will be warmer there! Use tube jigs, senko and Jig ang craw worm. Fish in the afternoon for warmer water. Also docks can be good in the spring. The pan fish love docks in the spring and the bass will not be far away!
Yes good point I match the rig to the conditions I am fishing. If the cover is thick I need to move up in weight and place the weight on the front of the tube. but if there is a hole in a bush or a dock that I can skip into I will go with the internal weight for the added skipping ability. but for fishing dock and more open water areas I stick with my internal weight. I have landed bass up to 9 pounds with this setup. Good question. Do you have any other thoughts?
thats very smart...... i tryed to once to put on a split shot, on the hook just before the shank and rigged the tube by putting the shank down the hollow part of the tube and pocked the eye through the top...it works pretty good
I fish this more in natual lakes with good cover but I fish this rig next to cover not in the thickest cover. It is not heavy so will not penitrate thiscker cover. What this bait does is get under docks (skipping). and fishing in pockets or on the edge of lilly pads. One more great place to fish this bait is skipped into trees hanging over and into the water. This rig works great in rocks too.
The hook will normaly not come out of the tube untill you SET THE HOOK. Plastic worms have more plastic for the hook to pass thru. So with worms I run the hook point all the way thru the worm and skin hook the point on the other side.
heh - i was trying this method in Europ, myst say just teak a bigger tube and it is great for Norwegian pikes, but work also great for pearch in Poland :)
Thx for the tip!
Btw; in a week or so im going to USA, any good advice what fishing baits to teak? Or to buy? :)
The weight of the quick clip that I use is 1/32 oz. The is the big ke for this rig. It has a horizantal fall that the big bass like. It is one of the best lures to skip under docks
I use all kinds of tubes! you will find that some are thick some are thin the strand part in loger or shorter from the rounded tip of the lure. I like thick tubes for flipping and skipping in to brush or downed trees. In open water I like the thin tubes. As for color I like white at dawn and then browns, greens, black, purple mid-day and if the water is off colored I will use chart.
why dont u use a baitcaster roger?

You will have no problem with hook sets with tube jigs. The plastic on tubes is thin and it's not any problem landing bass fishing this way!

quick question, if i put my hook inside the tube it will come out when the fish bites? would that also work with the soft plastic worms?

you can also plug the tube with cotton and fill it with scent attractant.
acm4bass 3 years ago
They can work too. I also take pencil lead and smash one end and poke a hole in the smached end and that works too.
Looks like you have all the eqipment you need. You must be a good fisherman!
Thanks for the Video reply!!!!!!

Most of the bass have spawned so crank baits early, Docks with senko's mid day and buzz baits after the sun goes down till dark.

how does it catch fish if the hooks not out?
lane007007 3 years ago
Tube jigs are hollow and a hook can pass through the tube jig with no problem!
