  • Au Moins Il Avait L'art De Trompé Son Monde ! ......

  • requiscat in pace

  • god i feel really sorry for the guy in my religion we believe people who have suffered as much as joseph merrick has will go to heaven

Btw what was the name of the disease he had?

  • @MustafaRadiy Joseph had Proteus Syndrome, and may also have had Neurofibromatosis 1 as well.

  • @MrsJosephMerrick i thought we dont no what joseph had?

  • @SuperTestfreak The most recent research shows he had Proteus. His feet for example are very typical of the condition, as well the bone-growth of his limbs and skull - but the most extreme case. His condition is so extreme and ''mysterious'' though, theres still thought that he must have had a combination of Proteus and NF 1. There are only 200 people worldwide who have Proteus, a relatively recently ''discovered'' condition.

  • I wonder what the latching trap door was used for at 1:18

  • @UltimateTomato It was clearly to remove Joseph's brain, before his skeleton was prepared so it could be ''articulated''( the term used for being set on the stand in the positon you see in the photo). If Treves preserved it, along with tissue samples, it was destroyed along with the other samples when a WW2 bomb hit the place where they were stored.Of course Joseph's brain was absolutely normal, I would say he was above average intelligence - &a kind and gentle person.

  • @MrsJosephMerrick I see. Thanks for the info!

  • My heart feels really sad at what he use to look like. I believe that he is happy now and is with God in his true and perfect image.

  • his dick is bigger then chris brown but all joke aside rest in peace John Merrick it def. would have been a pleasure meeting you.

  • i am glad he passed on he can live the life he deserves in heaven

  • I totally respect that he is a sick man, and i think people are MONSTERS to make fun of him..

But I must admit... I don't really want to see his dick :/

    0:44

  • How incredably sad!

  • It's a shame, either in real life photos, portraits of him or a design of what he may have looked like without his condition, Joseph Merrick will never smile.

  • joseph merrick lived a sad life, many rejected him, even his own father. I say for the people who disliked the video are cruel, messed up people and need to learn some respect

  • Stop do it , is not an animal !!!!!!

  • thought it was john not joe

  • I'm sure he found happiness in the hugh of God.

  • His skull is beautiful.

  • i have the same condition as he has called nf 1

  • i have the same condition as he has

  • @rhiannonjLP No u dont i looked at your page your perfectly fine dont say that this disease is extremely awful to have

  • 'Tis true my form is something odd,

    But blaming me is blaming God;

    Could I create myself anew

I would not fail in pleasing you.

If I could reach from pole to pole

Or grasp the ocean with a span,

    I would be measured by the soul;

The mind's the standard of the man." - Joseph Merrick

Your weary head is finally at rest, R.I.P.

  • Poor man ... short-lived a hard life and feel sorry for

I am very proud that we have done this tribute, because of this I'm going to subscribe

    Greetings!

  • Im cry... God blees.

  • They should really censor the area at 0:45 :O

  • "Merrick died on 11 April 1890, aged 27. The official cause of death was asphyxia, although Treves, who dissected the body, said that Merrick had died of a dislocated neck. He believed that Merrick—who had to sleep sitting up because of the weight of his head—had been attempting to sleep lying down, to "be like other people" "

  • @Sherbeth91 I learned that he had to sleep lying on his right side only beacause of the weight of his head, but then he attempted to lay on his back witch caused blocking him from breathing.

  • @darasta90 He always slept sitting up, with his arms wrapped around his legs, and his head resting on his knees. No one will ever know for certain whether this was on purpose - to sleep like everyone else - or a tragic accident. My opinion is that he fell back, for whatever reason, and was unable to recover himself because of the weight of his head - his death was at once, as his spinal cord was crushed and the blood supply to his brain was cut off.

  • search about this guy he has a really sad story..his mother died when he was 11 and then he was rejected by his father and step mother....R.I.P

  • this so sad well god bless his soul he is unique is his own special way its good to be different. no wonder michael jackson loved this so much john merrick shows how to love urself the way u were made be proud about it.John Merrick God bless ur strong soul.

  • this really made me realize I shouldn't complain about my looks...R.I.P

  • God bless him. R.I.P <3

  • Seeing this made me realize how lucky we are.

Poor man :( He deserved so much more

  • Yes, he was a real man. Someday - I believe - he will be resurrected & healed....

  • was this real? i thought john merrick (or joseph, forgive me im not familiar with the play) was just a character? it looks real here

  • @smileybug14 The movie was based on a true story.

  • @smileybug14 Yes, it's 100% real. His real name is Joseph, but somehow got changed to "John". He happens to be a distant cousin of mine.

  • Poor guy. What a beautiful soul. Rest in peace.

  • He's beautiful.

  • Mr. FREDERICK TREVES thanks for making this son of god has his last years of happiness in a time very ignorant and discriminatory to these poor people .. God bless

  • if i was God or had the power i would have Helped him in a Heartbeat !!

  • No-one deserves to live like that. Terrible, but honestly if I was seeing him like that for the first time, I'd definitely freak out

  • Poor guy, I feel sorry for all the suffering he went through.

  • Joseph Merrick is one of the most respectable men to ever walk the earth. He lived through a terrible disease, hate by bigots, and rejection by his own father. Through all of this he never gave in to revenge or ending his life early. He only asked for help and solitude and at the end of his life he got just what he wanted, peace.

  • Wonder if jesus had to go thru what this guy did

  • @SrslyStfu I wish he bloody did.

  • GOD BLESS HIM. RIP

  • @songoku21able Douche

  • @songoku21able STFU KID!!!

  • this is so sad but honestly he frightens me...

  • People just hated him because despite his sickness he had a bigger dick.

  • For all the sick minded people who played hell with this man.! I hope they all did end up there..!! If only they could read this..!!

  • RIP

  • He shouldn't have worn that mask to sheild his beauty. R.I.P

  • Your idea of beautiful is what you've been brainwashed into believing. Tv, films, magazines. everything. society says this man is ugly, nothing else.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrsJosephMerrick everyone judge people like you just did...second im sure i explained to someone why i played the race card.....for the one that race doesn't really matter wouldn't even respond to this...why did you bring up muhammed ali?? because he's black, and you're not.. it's like you're saying hey ali's black i like him.. i have plenty white friends, but before i even think of them as white i see them as people first..i have my reasons for saying what i said..thank you

  • iflores1102 ....I'm sure you would have been. You don't even have the brains to know how to talk English so you definitely wouldn't have had the brains to realise there is more to life than your version of perfect. So would you not love your child if they had this illness? or are you just a completely heartless, thick as shit nobody? i'm going for the second option to be honest.

  • To the people who say that he was a freak and he was disgusting, get a grip and grow a heart. It isn't his fault he was born the way he was, I personally think he was beautiful even with his disfigurement. & no, even if I did meet someone like that now I wouldn't run away because i'm able to look past appearances and see what's truly inside someone. He was kind, gentle and he never hurt anyone. The people who bullied him were truly ugly, to the core. I hope he's at peace. R.I.P Joseph.

  • @KAYJAY48 Of course I agree with you. Its really terrible that people were afraid or disgusted, and many women really did scream when they saw Joseph - can you imagine how he felt? He was used to it happening, but that doesnt mean he wasnt frightened and hurt deep in his heart by such reactions.

And still today heartless people say cruel things.

He was a lovely man and brave man.

  • @KAYJAY48 Sorry but honestly if i saw I'm I would be frightened, not because I'm a terrible person but just because I just find him scary and plus i'm a coward.

  • Comment removed

  • You cannot bag people for how they were born, it depends what you do with your life, or what you do to your face during your life, but the way you naturally are, no one should ever bring someone down how they naturally look

  • You know no affence for ppl who wish they knewed him i bet not cuz in a way i bet if you were to really meet him beforeeee all of this sadness i bet you would be screaming cuz im being honest i probably wouldve been one of those scared ppl

  • Joseph Merrick is beautful just the way he is r.i.p

  • @Megahammerheadshark now thats a damn lie..i know you feel bad for him, but that man is not beutiful...maybe on the inside but who isn't to some degree...

  • @stfameent Your mean.

  • @Megahammerheadshark no i'm really not, but it sicken me to see how some people act like they are so humane, so caring. not trying to play the race card but stroll though anywhere on the youtube where there is a black person mexican, anyone who is white, and its nigger this beaner that. even tragic events, it's the same down grading insults....so forgive me if for seeing him as a person and not feeling sorry for him...just love!!

  • I'd pay to look at him.

  • am i related to him????!!!!!!

  • May you have all the love and affection you so deserve Joseph in Gods beautiful home xo.love Ads

  • me 2 I wish I could have known you

  • RIP to the guy noone deserves that

  • Wow

  • Very unfortunate, I should really forget about my insecurities

  • Rest in peace. God bless you.

  • we are so lucky we dont appreciate it

  • 29 people who disliked will get their time when they stand before GOD. And so will the other people who make fun of this man and other people who were born deformed.

  • @TheBeastFrom941 If God existed, this would not exist. It's just a mutation in his genes.

  • @RoundHouseRecords Yo, quick to sick your dogs huh? I hope for your sake you're right. Because I know if I was God, I would create this. People with stupid insecurities and worries over nothing need to see people like this in there lives. Yes, if God existed, this would exist. But like I said, I hope you're right. For your sake, not mine.

  • @RoundHouseRecords Perfection is perfect with imperfection in ir, life cannot be a rainbow all the time. Personally for me God does exist and this man was amazing. It teaches me a lot, what a guru. Mankind is sow narcissistic and materialist about life, i even include my self in. Perfect needs imperfection it makes life mystery and questionable.

  • @LoboDeBayamon Who should judge what is true perfection? Joseph was a beautiful human being inside and out. He was perfect, because he had a gentle soul, a kind heart, and a spirit which has inspired so many people.

  • @LoboDeBayamon i would have written this myself but it seems you have save the trouble, what you speak is true. but,we cannot give up on our species there is still time to fix ourselves ......... stay strong LobodeBayamon.

  • @mrRexninja thank you friend :). You read me their; sometimes i dough are species. Its selfishness an egoistic. But theirs still wise thought in mankind. ^^

  • @bluekrackmunky actually that was not factual at all. Michael confirmed that was never true. He was interested in the story but he never wanted the bones.

  • wow thats weird disease its on the discovery channel tmoz might watch it

  • re last comment, which I wont reply to : Your disgusting mind is beyond words

  • he wasnt an IT he was a THING. do warts have names? and when he had FEELINGS to LOVE himself he couldnt becoz his hand was 2 badly deformed.

  • it sucks for him, because it semmed like he had a real talentmaking those models of buildings

  • @coolprowler He didnt make and paint them himself. The models came in kit form, and Josephs nurses helped him to assemble them. Joseph gave them as presents, the only way he felt to express his gratitude for peoples kindnesses. The model you always see in a photo(not the one in film) is the only one which survived, and which he gave to Mrs Kendall.

  • he looks like somat outa star wars...... so ee should have bin born in bout another 3000 years tbh.....

  • Godbless his soul ,dear man xo

  • It's hard not to get emotional watching this.

  • he was a great man, he heaven forever. he greater than me.

  • my fucking god, how can the bones grow like this in the skull? it seems imposible

  • Eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww

  • i bet he got all the bitches

  • @AdamRyanKirkwood He might have allowed it but he probably didn't like it, and since when was YouTube a medical database? The fact that we are seeing the pictures shows they were used for more than medical reasons....u bigger dumb fuck

  • Comment removed

  • God love him, he must have been tortured. Why did they take pictures of him naked? Its no ones business the way he was, people are sick

  • @TheMandaxx Those photos were taken of him while he was at the hospital, and therefore originally for medical purposes. Mr Merrick really HATED being ''paraded'' by Treves in front of eminent colleagues of his, and once refused to do it.He said he felt ''like an animal in a cattle market.''At least, and these are his sentiments not mine, when he was in the fairs, he was paid well and shown with decency . I daresay he felt the same profound discomfort in having those photos taken.

  • @TheMandaxx Well maybe you should do some research on him because in fact he allowed people (doctors) to take pictures of him for medical research. You dumb fuck.

  • Such a sweet and beautful person. I wish I could have known you.

  • @joazim Shut the fuck up... we all know you would freak out. So cut the crap!

  • beautiful light

  • He is my hero and will always be

  • rip

  • @DuncanzeDwarf:

    YOU sir, are a dick.

  • He was only trying to sleep as a 'normal' human, horizontal.

    He died.

    Brave man.

  • that's some freaky shit - poor guy.

  • he doesnt look like an elephant at all poor man the only friend he had was sir Frederick treves

  • the surgeon sir frederick treves was a nice man

  • @GOTCOL Yes. He really took the complete responsibilty of Josephs welfare upon himself by ''rescuing'' him from the mob at Liverpool St Station, and bringing him back to the hospital, even though he knew it was ''against the rules'', and he foresaw the difficulties that lay ahead to keep Joseph there and safe.

  • his dick is kinda small, then again at least that normal

  • @DuncanzeDwarf dude.....just no

  • @DuncanzeDwarf Because he could totally control how he looked, right?

  • I pity all of those with no compassion. You are the ones that make the world ugly. I wish their were more human beings out there like Joseph. The individuals out there that do not understand, I pray that you might someday. There is much you don't understand. All of us have some deformity and the ones with no love or caring in their heart are the only ones I fear for. Anything that people go through is harder than we think. Just like the people in your lives that you wish they would understand

  • Nice tribute. Thanks.

  • GOD bless you John and others like you......

  • @xTheNightWatchmanx His name was Joseph actually.

  • @RhythmPanda Soz

  • @xTheNightWatchmanx Haha, no problem. Nice of you to give people like him your blessing anyway. c:

The mind's the standard of the man. —poem used by Joseph Merrick to end his letters,

  • Poor man, the most terrible thing is the time he lived, a time when the people didn´t have the knowledge and technology we have, but I think people still heve the same prejudice and discrimination against diferent people.

  • @mjfansweetchild ... Yeah you are right. But we should never forget, arrogance is also just a weakness. Arrogance is a result of a low self-confidence and not a child of intelligence. Those people need it to hide something and to building up the own ego. For me it is amusing to know, because every really intelligent man in history was not arrogant against other people. It´s easy to ignore those people with prejudice and discrimination, and simply smile about a lack of intelligence. ((-;

  • us in englsh were studying about im and joseph was aband and someone took him for a freak show poor merrick and he was very courageaous man i feel sorry for im the stupid guy that took him for a freakkkkkkk showwww hes so stupid

  • no one deserves to be mocked for being born the way they are, he had much patience and was very brave, i dont know much abt him other than wot i saw in the movie, but when it comes to strengh and courage his name should be near the top

  • SIR. J.C. Merrick was appointed by the queen as sir for his mind, his spirit, and his scale models.

  • i feel sorry for him

  • He often said to me that he wished he could lie down to sleep 'like other people' ... he must, with some determination, have made the experiment ... Thus it came about that his death was due to the desire that had dominated his life—the pathetic but hopeless desire to be 'like other people'.

    —Frederick Treves

  • And tell that the world is a wonderful place.

  • that's a hard life. we havent changed much. he'd have suffered a great deal of ridicule in today's society.

  • There is a rick roll in this.

  • this is what happened he wa born regular but he caught a diseases and tumors that made him look like that

  • @DallasStarsNHL neuroflibmatosis and proteus syndrome

  • idk if im a hundred percent correct but all that was wrong with merrick was that he had many benign neoplasms or tumors that just kept growing and growing

  • Holy shit. Someone tell me what disease he had that's messed up

  • this sucks! you cant get girls, cant take a shit, cant play xbox! i would have killed my self if i was him, not to mention no one had invented the television yet.

  • Brave guy. When you find someone that complains alot about there life and the small thing that go wrong just tell them about John, one look at him and anyone with problems will think twice about complaining.I think half the people of today would have just given up on life, john didn't,maybe we should all learn from him!!!!

  • They see him rollin', they hatin'

  • this is sad

  • I really get distressed seeing people disfigured in such a bad way. They must feel so hopelessly lost and alone and so depressed. He must have gone through years of suffering and ridicule. It's very unfair how some people are born destined to live the perfect life, and others destined to die of terrible disease and suffering. It makes you think about how much we take for granted. People these days get depressed over a few pimples, imagine how they'd feel looking like Joseph Merrick.

  • im just wondering did it hurt...

  • wtf was wrong with him blaaa

  • At 1:19 you can clearly see a hatch thing in his skull.. what's that??

  • @m0nsen93 I am not saying anything against you, but what disturbs me is that no one ever asks how Josephs skeleton was prepared. It is upsetting to know. Youre the first ferson I've seen to query about that. I think anyone can work out after some moments thought why that ''hatch'' is there.

  • @m0nsen93 Its probally were they did an autopsy on his brain or something

  • God Bless you for making this. It was wonderful.

  • @myg0Troll

Are you really such a retard? Go make fun of him you bloody aashole! Always one retard who comments!

  • me gusta el video

    i like it !

  • #OMG clownload movie роор.su

  • I wish I had 1/10th the courage of this man; a truly remarkable human being.

  • 1:53 made me cry....his eyes were like "please,I want to be this way please"..damn

  • This really moved me and i feel great sorrow for him, as they were so cruel. I know it's a bit late but r.i.p.

  • NIP SLIP AT 1:11 !!!!!

  • cute

  • OMG

  • The saddest part is always seeing his "real" face in the end ,,, almost makes one glad that he never got to see the construction,

  • His hot

  • @Prankcall12 lol :)

  • i dont get it why they called Joseph the elephant man??

  • @MultiAngie100 His disease is called elephantaisis or something like that.

  • @RandyLeeSnyderJr thanks :)

  • @MultiAngie100 It was the spiel used when he was working the fairs in England, nothing to do with elephantaisis. He suffered from Proteus syndrome &NF combined,as far as research on his remains have determined. However, his skin was very rough, like the hide of an elephant, &he also had a growth which grew outside his mouth which people ''thought'' looked like a rudimentry tusk . (The worst of this was cut away, but grew again when he was at the hospital,)

I wish he was no longer called the EM.

  • @ mrsjosephmerrick just who are you? Why call yourself by that name??

  • Another good looking Englishman.

  • Very cool video......Well done! Thank you for posting!......Love the Music also!

  • any coward who is thinking about commiting suicide should compare their little problems to the torture that this brave man overcame on a daily basis...

  • @megaguitar15 That is just a stupid comment! You don't commit suicide for no reason.

  • @termometen but compared to being showcased as a freak all your life and still having the strength to move forward any other reason would be stupid.

  • @megaguitar15 I'm not saying that I don't admire his strength to keep on going, but the my point was that you don't have to be a freak to have reasons for suicide. Hope you get my point of view (I'm from Sweden).

  • @termometen yes I do. and I respect your position.
