  • Gah, love those brutal downshifts of Nige. :)

  • very exciting to watch, how do we get the excitement back???

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting. I miss these cars and the racing.

  • The Trans-Am version of this race, anyway...

  • Did you know that Walter Payton crashed and got minor burns qualifying for this race?!?!?

  • Its a shame Mansell didn't stay. I've always thought that if he had the foreign interest and investment around Mansell in particular would have killed the IRL before it got off the ground.

    Great vid BTW =]

  • Yeah I agree Nigel should have waited a year. I love Road America it is the US's best circuit!!! I wish F1 would race there!!!

  • best looking single seaters the world has ever seen! - That Penske is perfection. Mansell actually made a rubbish career move racing for McLaren in 1995. Roger Penske would've happily apointed Nigel for 1995. He even said so at the end of 1994.

  • I also wished Nigel would of stayed for another few years. Nigel was an Englishman though and F1 was always in his heart. If he didn't go back to F1 I bet he could have raced in CART for another 5+ years.

  • Agreed, that Penske was a fantastic looking car.

  • Those were the good old days of Cart/Indycar racing.

  • Robby Gordon. Lol

  • Wonder if IRL will ever come here??? Would be interesting at least.

  • I used to love those Marlboro Penske Champ Cars. I got pissed at them though when they ditched CART for the IRL. Still kinda hold that grudge against them, thats why Newman/Haas/ Lanigan racing is my favorite team. They stayed in the REAL indycar series.

  • I love NHL but I'm just glad they're a united series once again. I just wished the economy was a little better and its a shame how some of the most talented drivers in the series are still unsigned such as Servia, Wilson, and may I say Paul Tracy.

  • These were some of the coolest looking Champ Cars ever (not the safest, however). Low, thin profile with low side pods. How much was that A-Arm Advertising, by the way.

  • MANSELL ROCKS!!!

  • Wish he would of stayed longer but I'm no sure how much whining I could of stood.

  • Kind of agree , and thats hard for me to say as I'm a Mansell fan.I'm looking at highlights of the 1994 season and his second season wasn't exactly a disaster. He could have won at Surfers Paradise and showed the chassis still had speed with podiums and poles. He should've been patient in 1994 and stayed on for 1995

  • How many cars were in this race?

  • I think the high count of the '93 season was 25-28 cars...

  • Thank you for all your wonderful Champcar videos. My 11 yr old son is a bigger CCfanatic than I am and he loves watching your videos with me. We're both amazed that the cars and racing 15 YEARS AGO is so much faster and better than the ugly, fat, slow crapwagons they drone around in now. We still watch the IRL at the road courses hoping to see Graham, Will, or Justin win but the entertainment value is about zero. Thanks Tony for all the progress. Deevolution Indy style.

  • 7:09 thats my dad again running for the fire extinguisher

  • At 3:56 thats my dad walking around the car in the back and at

  • Thanks so much for posting champcar4ever. This was one of the few races i missed in 1993 and have unable to see any footage of it until now. Thanks:)

  • The reason champ car is failing is because the racing is boring. I was at this race and it was so much better than it is now. When I saw the 07' champ car race at RA it was a dissapointment.

  • man the good ol' days! Long live CC!!!

LOL makes those crapwagons look even more pathetic....Go Milka Duno.....LOL, riiiight

  • The other series isn't doing any better. I think they'll be missing some cars and teams next year. Bye Milka and Tomas.

  • Yes bring it on. I'd like to see how the Ilmor crapwagons of the other series will be since Honda will be gone by then.

  • Well they'll be waiting a VERY long time if they do that. Besides it would be good for the IRL to go there so we can see how much faster the DP-01 is. I bet even the Atlantics would give the IRL cars a run for their money.

  • Actually, I saw one of Ganassi's IRL rookies during open testing at Infineon in Sonoma last year the thursday before the race. There were also F1 Historics, some SCCA Formula Fords and a Formula Atlantic there. You could really tell how slow the IRL car was off the last corner compared to seeing turbocharged Champ Cars at Laguna & San Jose.

Some of the old F1 cars and the Atlantic tackled the front straight an hill and didn't appear that much slower than the IRL car.

  • no way is that Patty Tracy, Paul's current wife, she looks totally different now if that is her

  • At 3:55 I think thats my dad as that pit marshall.

  • The best track in North America!!

  • awesome track and wonderful years, FTG, you f'ing moron.

  • This track is a very good track. I like the old CART indycars on this track. Champcar4ever, more of the classic champcars (Classic Indycar) as usual!

Oh I forgot: Christiano DaMatta, get well shorty!
