I was gonna get the super 40's but people were sayin it aint worth it for a first car, i got the 96' v8 with 150,000 on it. Run real good, tho there is a gap somewhere between the head gasket and the muffler
@Guitarfollower22 If you got a 5.0 V8 Explorer or Mountaineer. It's worth modding it, taking good care of it. These trucks will LAST. And by gap, are you talking about an exhaust leak?
@xoxobrantwonxoxo lol your videos of your sounds are kool but its too bad your a dousche bag lol fucking chevy fanboys man what would youtube do with out you?
@NathansBackwoods I'm actually thinking about it. Since doing that to My Mustang I've grown to love the lopey idle even more. Since this is an OHV engine though instead of a modular, it's gonna be alot more work. The engine is gonna have to be pulled. I plan on beefing up the valve train and replacing the rings and valve seats anyways in another year or so it may get a new cam when that happens. I'd have to talk to Comp Cams and see what they could do for me.
@TekMan05, i completely forgot they went to ohc in the 90s 302 explorers, that would not be to fun, every one tells me they are alot harder...it would be cool though.
I got a 97 Explorer motor and it wasn't an OHC, so not all of them are. I put the motor in my Bronco. Has the GT40P heads, bitch is probably the quickest Bronco in my town.
@Honda4wheelin Oh I plan on it. I'm just gonna have to research what kind will work best with an Explorer application. I do want some kinda lopey idle with it. I should also see if I can upgrade my intake at all and maybe port the heads.
@TekMan05 Good good glad to hear it. I have an 01 explorer myself, and the V8 with Awd, the acceleration, Is insane for an suv. I'm going to throw a magnaflow in it, just because I can get it for 40 bucks.
@acedogg692005 It's fast enough for what it is. If I really want to go fast I'd hop in my 2005 Mustang GT. My mom chose wisely getting this "Ford". She traded in a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for this back in 2000 because the Jeep was already having issues that the warranty didn' want to cover. This has proven its worth with it's reliability. Never left my parents stranded when they were still driving it.
I have a 97 and I made mine dual by dumping them in front of the rear wheels. the piping fits right in between the fram rails and sid skirts on each side and a magnaflow 5" radius round muffler on each side.
@nissan1578, Yes I did because they tried to tell me the same thing until I told them I had the spare tire removed long ago. They were like "Ooohh okay" lol.
Well the Muffler Shop did all the custom piping. It was 2.5'' tubing the muffler is a dual In/ Dual Out 40 Series! I'd hope to get some High Flow cats and lop off the rear ones. I can't seem to find a set specific to my model though!
I have a new video of this exhast along with my Mustang and my friends cougar doing a three way rev. I'm gonna try to get more videos of this beast soon hopefully, maybe a drive by on level ground with more acceleration. So stay tuned!
I wasn't talking about the explorer, it was tward someone else... I'm not an idiot that explorer is obviously a V8. it was 3 months ago when i commented. i dont even remember who it was tward.
Yes it's the 5.0 V8 with mods. The whole setup costed $320. Then I had to order a second tip to match the other which was around 60 off Flowmaster's website and only $20 for the tip installation! it's Nice, I like this way more than the previous Dual in , single out 50 Series I had before!
Is this Cat-Back? I'm looking for a nice true-dual kit for my '04 X. I was figuring on having my exhaust guy custom fab it with two 40's, but I heard Flowmasters might make a kit.
Also, do you happen to live in southeastern PA? I think I've seen this truck a few times...
No , lol I live in Gladstone(Sub-urb of KC), Missouri. It is cutom from the 2nd cats back. The shop did the piping themselves. Then added the tips at the end! It's a 2.5'' Dual In/Out Super 40 Series Muffler!
Ah, okay, it's the gold explorer with the horse decals on the back looked familiar...actually, come to think of it, it might have been a gold Expedition with those decals that I see every now and then, lol...
nice truck! i love them.. have a had a few all different motors. 5.0 302 is the best
