  • i love how jay always put some traditional taste into his songs..

  • jay ,happy birthday=)

  • sigh. why cant people just listen to this amazing and beautiful song without bringing in politics. We are all people of the earth... why can't we just get along and stop sticking labels onto each country? geez.... all these biased remarks towards china and taiwan are making me sick...

  • awesome song !

  • nice song krub :)

  • not all korean music imitate the american culture. Yes, Jay chou is good and we all know it, why bring in kpop at all?

  • i have something want to ask u ! we are chinese why we have to say Eng in here :-D

  • @yenjiaxing100 cuz not evryone is chinese here

wait are u chinese or Taiwanese?

  • @bobthej23 sr for my late ans :)) , i am chinese and u ???

  • @yenjiaxing100 half us half Taiwanese

  • Learn the difference between ethnicity and nationality

  • very poetic MV. Very classy. Jaychou is THE best!

  • Pls stop politic discustion .En joy music and peace.

  • Like Jay Chou so much <3<3<3

  • i fell inlove to this song even if i don't understand the lyrics at all =)

  • stop talking about polictics shit here guys ! just enjoy music .

  • taiwanese is pretty much chinese they look the same talk pretty much the same

  • @cushion7991 Taiwanese mostly have fujianese ancestry,Jay Chou's ancestral land is Fujian.

  • Who made this MV? It's very good. It seems that Chou's MVs have gotten much worse recently. He should rehire the old director for his MVs instead of making them himself...

  • i'm glad he represent asians by presenting our culture and staying in root unlike the korean pop that imitate american culture only.

  • @groovyome yeah!!! i agree with u

  • @groovyome your comment is pretty stupid. Just enjoy music, don't need to be a racist prick about it.

  • Very romantic

  • From watching his videos, it seems like he has an appreciation for culture (east and west) and the aesthetics of Americana.

  • 我们不知道为什么的时候神总在。

  • i don't understand the story in the video either...but i do looove the Chinese music style =)

  • he's always been the most poetic modern musician in asia. and that's exactly why i love him ^^ been a huge fan since he first came out. i'm 18 :)

  • i don't get the story line of the video....

    explain please??

  • @KayKayKellie I'll try my best. Overall, it's a song of longing and reminisce, the lyrics resonate with the chinese style of the song."East Wind Breaks" is a name that sounds a lot like a very famous chinese poet's name. That explains the chorus, "Who's using Pi Pa (old chinese instrument, like the one in the background) and performing a song of East Wind Breaks?" And he goes onto sing "and in these windy times, even seperation is in silence," "but the whispers of my longing, you never heard."

  • 好多英文評論喔~~

    The song is very good.

  • damn jay chou intrumental kicks ASS.... is there any other songs he makes similar to this?

  • @tragic4eva you can try 菊花台 (Ju Hua Tai) - Chrysanthemum Flower Bed

  • @tragic4eva qing hua ci

  • damn .. jay chou intrumentals..... really kicks ass.....

  • Looks like lots of people can't differentiate between ethnicity and nationality.

  • Taiwan for Taiwanese! Keep Taiwan Free! You rock, Taiwan, ROC!

  • @janeRsg WTF man

do u even know what ROC standsfor

if u don't then shut tha fuck up

if u do then screw you

  • this song is so peaceful....love it....:)

  • I really like this song..I hope i can learn how to speak chinese language

  • My gosh!i was hopping to find comment about have great (or bad) this song is but all i see is political disscusion!!! There is no right or wrong answer to them because everyone point of view is different....

  • This song makes me feel so relaxed :D

  • ....... enough bullshit. this is a MV, pls bring your other discussions elsewhere.

  • uhm please shut up and listen to awesome music. :]

  • What you said might be true but can never be proven. If Jay was born in China he might also become a great musician like Lee, Yundi and Long Long. I cannot justify your claim that China is a culture desert but it can be much improved.

Again, circle back to my topic, if people would like to discuss nationality issue then here isn't really a proper place.

  • 15个人的东风破了

  • ok, Taiwanese keep saying they are not chinese. so why taiwanese write in Chinese, speak Chinese? they were part of Japan. should speak Janpanese.

  • @HamtaroKawaii You're writing in English, are you from England? Dumbass.

  • @saigonpunkid nope, bull head

  • @HamtaroKawaii deng man your a fuckin dumbass

then why do americans write english

    fucking dumbass

your not even from Taiwan so shut tha fuck up cuz u don't know shit

  • For those who have identity trouble, why don't you join the respective political party and fight to your last breath, and let alone the rest of us here to listen to Jay's songs peacefully. Thanks.

  • @carmeoc If there's no Taiwan, there's no Jay Chou. Look at China and see what a culture desert it is now.

  • @FMAddict13 Also, be careful, as there are ethnic groups in Taiwan that are not of Han descent and legitimately cannot be called Chinese at all. Granted, it's a small minority, but it's worth acknowledging. You can't exactly call A-Mei Chinese...

  • @FMAddict13 True - however, for 99% of the world, when you use the word "Chinese" in English, it does refer to China, which IS currently defined by the CCP . Chinese as an ethnicity in the Chinese language is "hua" - making it clear that it doesn't have to do with the political system in mainland China. However, in English, there's no way to distinguish. In the same way, someone of English descent in America wouldn't want to be called "English" so yes, "Taiwanese" vs. "Chinese" does matter.

  • To the viewers: thumb down is not downloading !!!!!!!

  • love Jay chou love his voice love his song

  • I like his hat.

  • i love dis song.

every time i listen to it, it brings me to tears. soo sad.

i love jay chou. his music is timeless & forever loved xD!!!!!

  • great song !! nice arrangement !

  • @FMAddict13 Don't say the Chinese didn't elect them. 1.3 bil Chinese help keeping the CCP in power. What an ignorance people!

  • favorite jay chou song. EVAHR.

  • @FMAddict13

I love the culture of OURS, but please DO NOT pollute it by politics on these performs!

    please!

  • @FMAddict13

    Bullshit !!!

  • the beginning piano is the best part..:)

  • love this version but i like the other version he sang in his concert recently better<3

  • I wish that their is a cantonese version but 95% of china speaks maderin and cantonese and taiwanese is now a dieing language

  • <3 <3 <3 this song.

  • whoever dislike this video dnt know wat true music is

  • @lilazngurl1217 agree :) or it is that those people seriously need to clean their ears

  • @lilazngurl1217

I agree! Whoever disliked this video doesnt know its meaning...oh well, shame for them. At least the rest 905 actually KNOW real music XD <3

  • who’s using the flute to play that song, “East Wind Breaks?” the years peel off the old walls revealing childhood beneath we were just two youths then— but now those zither sounds haunt me my waiting never reached your ear // who’s using the flute to play that song, “East Wind Breaks?” though falling maple leaves colour our story the ending becomes apparent I take your hand past the fence onto the old road even as hazy smoke floods our years there are no last words

  • worry burns as I turn to leave; Loneliness has been standing by the window; and I’m at the door, pretending you haven’t left. perhaps you’d have somehow returned. the round moon waxes and wanes in solitude and the candlelight cannot bear to blame me the Wanderer has gone to the ends of the earth and finds his kettle difficult to swallow wine warms thinning nostalgia; and the rivers always flow East can you steal time? flowers only bloom once and I have missed the season.
  • hey does anyone know the hmong version of this

  • @lilazan15 there's a hmong ver of this

    hmong ppl these days

  • @lilhershey7 nvm it jay chou other song

  • @lilhershey7 yeah but i dont remember the song call i only remember the beat

  • @Andiew218 lol. r we still having this conversation on every single video like this.... It's just a song.. Besides, have you even been to Hongkong before and after 1997? sigh.

  • @mgtully Hong Kong is given autonomy until 2046. Besides Taiwan, Mainland China, ABC,ART, Singaporean, whatever. We are still all Chinese in our ancestry and heritage. Why not be proud of that and stop the stupid political arguments. Mainland Chinese are not all selfish, its mainly priority and what can be done without killed the country's economy and stability. A country with over 4 billion people will have problems with hygienics and it won't be cheap or fast fixing that.

  • @xxwtheoxx er... is 1.4 billion~~

  • I agree with 2000711 completely.

I'm an ART (American Raised Taiwanese) I refused to have Taiwan handed back to China. Because...exhibit A) Hong Kong. After Hong Kong was handed over to China, that place has been a pigsty. Granted it may be under a different government it still pretty gross. China may be growing economically; but hygienically and mannerism is just not there. They're way of thinking is really selfish.

  • @Andiew218 agree 100% esp i am from hong kong, sad to see how HK is turning down hill

  • @Andiew218 Just want to say that I grew up in HK, and I'm half Chinese/English - Hong Kong KICKS ASS.

    :)

  • @Andiew218 hey smartass. first of all taiwan doesnt need to be handed bck to china, it IS part of china. didnt u know tht taiwan has been trying to be independent all these yrs? also, dont bash on hong kong and china, yeah china is dirty in some places but thts cuz there are so many DAMN people living there. china has like 1/7th of the worlds population, dont think tht its easy to keep it clean. BTW, taiwan isnt tht clean either so shut the fuck up and the taiwanese people are CHINESE.

  • @linda200507 Really? Taiwan in itself an independent self governed country. Only native Chinese people from CHINA would say Taiwan is part of China; and other countries that are under influenced by China either for economic or military reasons would also say that Taiwan is already part of China. The way I see it; China is a parasite. It takes from the world; but never gives back. The only thing it gives are diseases and bad quality products.

  • @Andiew218 oh really now? apprently u havent met enought people in ur life. plz man, know who ur talkin for here. i have taiwanese friends' parents tht say tht taiwan is still part of china. why? u jealous tht china's military's better than other country's military? oh plz if it werent for china, taiwan wouldnt be a called taiwan right now, it be called some other name in a different language. and its not like taiwan doesnt have CHEAPASS products too so dont be a mr.know-it-all.

  • @linda200507

I agree Taiwan does Cheapss products. But their quality cheapass products. Not some second rate knockoffs. Furthermore; why is it then most people in the world trust Made in Taiwan over Made in China products? Riddel me this, why do most people i meet out there prefer Taiwan over China any day?

I traveled the world and met many wonderful people thank you very much. & fyi, Taiwan is also called Formosa. As a matter of fact, Taiwan was colonized by Holland, Portugal, and Japan.

  • @Andiew218 i meant cheapass as in quality -_____-x and u dont speak for most of the people in the world. i'd like to see u do a poll/vote in every country in the world to prove tht. no dur taiwan was colonized by japan before....i think i know my history thank u very much.

  • @Andiew218 lol mr. know-it-all, I wonder how come you have met so many native people, saying that Taiwan is better than China. Let me tell you the fact, if Taiwan wanna be isolated, it will be 10 times faster Taiwanese to face the worst economy. no doubt there are quite a few famous technological firms in Taiwan, but please, do some research, there is no way to avoid chinese parts, raw materials, manufacturing plants. it is no good to judge China and Taiwan politically as an ordinary customer.

  • @linda200507 You're hilarious, but to start off with, those "Taiwanese friends' parents" almost certainly came to Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War. They were the Nationalists who lost to Mao and even in Taiwan, they aren't considered "Taiwanese," they are considered to be "wai sheng ren" - most of them were born in mainland China, not Taiwan. Ask how many of them even speak Taiwanese - yes, TAIWANESE, not Mandarin.

You obviously DON'T know your history.

  • Comment removed

  • A lot of his lyrics come from Fang Wan Shen

  • who is the lovely gal in this mv? who knows, who knows?

  • The instruments used are "gu zheng" and "erhu OR called chinese violin".

  • can someone identify the beautiful instruments being played in this song? the chinese instruments....

  • i don speak mandarine but i love most of his song, thanks for sharing...i 'd love to learn mandarine if i could :D

  • LUV...JAy Chou.

  • "Cute woman" is also a good song. The words seem to written by Vivian Shu.

  • "Maternal Grandmother" is very touching, too. ^^

  • "Where Is The Promised Happiness?" is awesome, too.

  • I luv Jay Chou and this song. But my favorite song is Orange Jasmine. ^^

  • this guy is obviously from taiwan and has no idea as to what he is typing in english. as a taiwanese citizen, we are taiwanese demograpically but chinese ethnically, well at least this stands true for the vast majority of us that live in taiwan. the issue i think he was referring to, is the fact that to most people the word chinese has connatative meanings as to being from mainland china, which i think is the cause for disdain as people from taiwan generally dislike communists.stereotyping ofc;)

  • @shin2chou U r right.

  • @shin2chou U r right. Finally someone said something right.

  • @shin2chou no man

its cuz china abandoned taiwan to japan when they loss to japan in tha war

and now they want Taiwan bac cuz Taiwan grew so much that they became jelous and view Taiwan as a threat

it has nothin to do with china as a communist country

if u don't understand its ok cuz afterall ur not from Taiwan anyways

  • @bobthej23

Manchus abandaned taiwan to Japan. Chinese is nothing to do with Taiwan.

Chinese were just only the subject people under the Manchu-Mongol union empire. Manchu-Mongol ruled Koreans, Chinese, Taiwanese, Tibetanis and Uyghurs. Sun Yixian made up Han Chinese forged teritory after the Chinese Revolution.

  • @bobthej23 i think u are right !!!

  • @bobthej23 You're shitting me right? Since WWII, Taiwan has been ruled by the defeated Nationalist Party from the Civil War that was basically waging concurrent with WWII.

As for why China would want Taiwan back, would any nation be ok with losing a part of their territory that has been historically theirs? With over 100,000 missiles pointed at Taiwan, I doubt China actually see them as a threat. Dumbass

Go back to history class before you spout bullshit online.

  • @SoulTrii c'mon ur the one talkin bs

its true that after WWII Taiwan was ruled by nationalist party that lose the war against the communist party but right now china is ruled by communist party and the nationalist party is now considered a political party of Taiwan

right now Taiwan is a free country unlike China they have freedom to do everything they want again unlike China

by the way ur one stupid ass mofo cuz ur just a nerd that reads lameass history textbook ,study random biased shits

  • @bobthej23 A free country? If by that you mean a "democratic" country then I guess you're right. Whether or not China is free makes no difference to me; I don't live there. "The national party is now considered a political party" means absolutely nothing. I could say that "the communist party in China is now considered a political party."

Don't try to deflect the fact that all that stuff about Japan that you spouted earlier is just plain stupid.

  • @SoulTrii nah the its not the same cuz in Taiwan theres other parties But in China theres only one that makes them kinda like a dictator

and wtf u talkin about i said nothin about japan!?!?!

  • @bobthej23 "Dictatorships" or a one party rule is not necessary a bad thing. George Washington actually preferred a one party state for the US, and look at all the squabbling going on at Capitol Hill. Generalizations like yours about the effectiveness about government are the reason why a country can go to war "for the sake of democracy". Look where that has gotten the US.

  • @bobthej23 Taiwan had been passed around by Europe and Japan for almost a hundred years due to an inability to defend it on China's part. No country fucking abandons a province unless they have to.

Right now Taiwan needs more from China than China needs from them.

As for being a nerd, at least I'm reading biased stuff and not just straight up making shit up because you can't read.

  • @SoulTrii thats total bs Taiwan does not need China They never did and never will

whos the one makin shit up? Taiwan was never passed around by Europe WTF

  • @bobthej23 Really? The joke of a Parliament that they have? The fact that China has the 2nd largest economy in the WORLD? Do you know how economics work? If Taiwan didn't need China then why are people talking about reunification?

Also, Holland fucking owned Taiwan for years.

  • never thought after so many years, this is still my favourite song by him. this song is definitely written during his musical talent peak period of his life.

  • I know many people don't care about Taiwan is part of China or not. Sorry for bothering on this message board. But since u know Jay. He is Taiwaner. When u read a book or listen to a song. People may know the background of the writer or singer.China government set over 1,000 missiles toward Taiwan and threaten to massacre Taiwaners. It's true. I don't know there's Justice in the world or not. I just speak out the truth. So if u care about Taiwan, we'll be glad and appreciated.

  • @2000711 its Taiwanese

  • Gee, people, get a life. Go do your history and political lesson somewhere else. Let us Jayfans enjoy his beautiful music.

Hey, Jay, keep up the good work. We love your Chinese "wind". 0)

  • who cared the God damned PRC?they just claimed we're part of PRC like they did to TIbet, just a stupid country.Besides due to the stupid PRC's pressure on the united nation, no one admit we're China, cause there's only ONE China which is PRC, but we're goddamned different countries. So nowadays we don't call ourselves China, but Taiwan, and we're Taiwanese, and communist shit should die. Consider how many democratic countries there are in Afirca, can't believe there's still that huge a one in Asia.

  • This is definitely one of my favorite Chinese-style songs from Jay. As usual, the lyrics by 方文山 are as meaningful and poetic as ever. It's such a beautiful combination!

  • lol stupid people tht keep talking bout wether taiwan is part of china or not, who cares lol. thot people clicked this video to listen to jay chou not argue about that. pfffff lol

  • @XxLenaxRawrxX he is him. an individual. doesn't concern about country issue btw. please think about it.

  • I love how his earlier works have so much chinese / taiwanese sounding tunes and styles. :3 His lyrics almost sound like poems.

  • ya bring back to old time >,<

  • if you dont know about chinese language, u wont know the meaning of atmosphere

  • err.. who is that actress? Lin Chiling?

  • Hauntingly beautiful in so many ways...

  • 水向东流 时间怎么偷 花开就一次成熟我却错过

  • he is chinese. taiwan is part of china, but not mainland

  • @wantingness wtf taiwan is NOT a part of china. do some fucking research u dipshit.

  • @nuitaridark If you dont think Taiwan is part of China, then your are the one who should do some fuking research you dipshit

  • @raycao88124 Taiwan fersure isn't part of China

  • @luvkdramagirl Then you do not know Chinese history. Get your fact straight

  • @raycao88124 it's you who don't know, first, in WWII the Jap signed the contract to "return" Taiwan, but they didn't say return it to whom, and second, the one who represented to sign the contract with them was the KMT government, the ROC, not your goddamned communist China. Either Legally or historically, you own nothing here, not even a fur, yeah, keep dreaming then one day the Christ will save you.

  • @raycao88124 zip your mouth you dirty china people, what goes around comes back around, see what happened to your country, waves and waves of disaster hitting your country, bad karma.

  • @wantingness

No, he is Taiwanese. If u don't believe me, go check his passport. No one can mess up with the nationality in the passport.

  • @2000711

On Jay Chou's passport and al the other 'Taiwanese' it says he is from the Republic Of CHINA.

  • @siuyutlong And on the cover of the passport, there's "Taiwan." ^_^

  • @2000711

But somewhere in that passport it has the word 'China' in it.

  • @siuyutlong U don't inderstand? Let me make this clear. ROC = TAIWAN. You are from PRC. So they are 2 different countries. Taiwan is a freedom and democratic country. People can vote for their own President. But PRC (People's Republic of China) is not a democratic country . Understand?

  • @2000711

So can Hongkong and Macau but they are not countries and you don't hear them whining about being free do you?

  • @siuyutlong Hongkong and Macua are parts of PRC for sure. Taiwan is not part of PRC for sure. I know u know this well. Taiwan is never , and was never governed by PRC. Not a single day, even now.

  • @2000711

Yes ROC was never part of the PRC/CCP. But Taiwan has always been part of the land 'China', Taiwan and China have the same history and civilisation because they were once together until Japan took Taiwan. Are you saying the KMT are not Chinese?

  • @siuyutlong U said " Yes ROC was never part of the PRC " is true. Another truth is that Taiwan and PRC (People's Republic of China) are two different countries.

  • @siuyutlong Ireland and the United Kingdom are two different countries. Taiwan and PRC (People's Republic of China) are two different countries, too.

  • @siuyutlong By the way, Taiwan and PRC (People's Republic of China) don't have the same history. The history of Taiwan is only 400 yrs. Not like China, China is about 5000 yrs. (someone say 4600 yrs.)

  • @siuyutlong The civilisation in Taiwan and PRC (People's Republic of China) are also different. Taiwan is a " freedom" and " domacratic" country.

  • @2000711

Politics and Goverment is slightly different but no matter, the people in Taiwan are STILL Chinese.

  • @siuyutlong

And for your infomation the Irish people are still considered to be British.

  • @siuyutlong Ireland and the United Kingdom are two different countries. No matter how u "consider ".

  • @2000711

Dude, I've in UK, I don't really live in China so I would know.

  • @siuyutlong If ur nationality is PRC (People's Republic of China), even ur in UK now, that doesn't matter. Ireland and the United Kingdom are two different countries. Taiwan and PRC (People's Republic of China) are two different countries, too. No matter how u "CONSIDER ". Or how anybody "CONSIDER ".

  • @2000711

I do not consider it because it is FACT, true Taiwan at the moment is independant but you deny that your Chinese? Remember ROC was the orginal China before the PRC so your saying that Chiang Kai-Shek and his people aren't Chinese? The people in Taiwan STILL Chinese but don't follow CCP.
