why are some versions of this aria slowed down? does anyone know where some of the slower versions come from? there's a classic version out there but i do not know the performer.

Sally Matthews is absolutely charming in this aria. Not only does she really fit the role of the young girl in love, but her singing is really outstanding, using vibrato sparingly and never sounding matronly as so many other sopranos seem to do.

I've got this edition of "Gianni Schicchi" in a DVD I bought last year, and I always watch it because it is the best I've ever heard/seen!

The acting, like the make-up, is over done so people in the entire theater can see what is going on. People in the audience don't get the view we're getting, as ridiculous as it might look. :D

Schicchi is hard - very, very hard. I've done lots of productions as Simone. I always resent a little that right in the middle the show, everything stops and the soprano gets to sing this hit tune - to the inevitable enthusiastic applause. Her job done she goes off stage. Then all the relatives have to go back to work - getting all those entrances right, running around and acting up a storm. Injustice I tell you.
