  • Last November I dislocated my elbow just as bad as Yoshida while training. It is the most painful experience I've ever had in my life. Man, that is the best sling they could give him? That is cruel and ridiculous.

  • Majority of American Judo clubs do not practice much newaza. Just basic pins, escapes, a few sweeps, arm bars, basic chokes ... maybe blue belt BJJ level. There are a few (not many) judo clubs in USA that are influenced by oversees martial arts (eg Russian Sambo, etc) those are good clubs and practice 50% up and 50% down. But if you want top level Judo newaza, you got to go to some Asian countries and European ... newaza there is much better if comparing to America. Russian judo is the best :-)

  • can someone PLEASE tell me what year this doc was made

  • @nicolasito007 Bonitas polabras.

  • i do judo and bjj i find that bjj SOME bjj people think that bjj is superior. You even get that from the gracies.Doing both makes you a well rounded grappler.

  • counter- throw @ 7:30 is super sweet

  • come with some translation please

  • BJJ and Judo: just categorical illusions in the minds of men. There was battlefield jujutsu. Kano established Kodokan Judo, his modern, scientific method of jujutsu. It established dominance and absorbed most of old jujutsu. It was transplanted to other countries including Brazil. One such pocket, the Gracie family, continued with the methods of that time and was not influenced by changes in judo around the world. .

  • They retained the superior ne waza. Judo retained the superior tachi waza. Judo is jujutsu is BJJ is judo. Either you have killer throwing techniques and strangling techniques and locking techniques, or you don't. An arm bar is an arm bar

  • couldnt agree more. the rules of each arts competition further the schism unfortunately.

  • Oh? What's your name then, a national champ will have some record. And Don't go crappy quoting Genki Sudo without credit

  • BJJ = Basically Just Judo ; )

  • @Islo123 hear that!!

  • @Islo123 How so? BJJ derived from JJJ and it's pramarily ground work and Judo is about 80% stand up.

  • @AudienceKiller66

True, But Do you know Kosen Judo..it's almost the same as bjj..so I would say that bjj comes from judo and judo from jjj

  • @Islo123 no I haven't actually, I'll check it out. But still the gracies were taught JJJ from a Japanese guy way back when.

  • @AudienceKiller66 They were taught Judo by Meada not JJJ, Meada was a 7th dan in Judo not JJJ

  • @Judokkaa judo was called japanese jiu-jitsu back then

  • @Myself0101 No it wasn't. Judo was Judo since 1882.

  • @Islo123 no basically its not

  • why are people hating on BJJ? you do know that the Gracies learned judo from a japanese guy right? they were like brothers, and now you're hating on BJJ which derived from judo. so you're indirectly hating on a judo master that tried to spread his art form

  • yeah i know its a bit weird but BJJ is very well known as a competitor against Judo as a choice for what type of Martial Art is better... and what makes it hilarious is mostly only Judo people making this competition! most BJJ people i have met are humble about learning Judo but Judo people seem to hate BJJ.... i dunno its crazy i do Judo myself and i love to rag on BJJ people i train with just for shits and giggles but i think they are both good just that BJJ needs to be more well rounded

  • It's generally assumed by westerners that BJJ is superior to other forms of grappling because Royce Gracie made a much larger impact in the US by winning the first 4 UFCs than the Gracie family's less than stunning preforming in PrideFC that not as many know about. Not that most people are aware of the former history either, but UFC and Western MMA glorify BJJ as a result of what happened. It's just irritating. Like when everyone took Karate.

  • @odin23581 actually Hidehiko Yoshida beat Royce gracie, so I wouldn't call BJJ superior.

  • @AudienceKiller66 Did you read my whole comment I was defending Judo. I was saying ignorant people assume BJJ is better because of the impact the Gracies had in UFC.

  • @odin23581 I did, I was just kind of adding to it. and the fact I'm a westerner, I was showing I didn't believe BJJ to be superior to judo.

  • @AudienceKiller66 but it is!!! if you put a judo guy and a bjj guy in the cage in a no holds barred fight 9 out of 10 times the bjj guy will come out the victor! its the style of fighting! pull guard or takedown by any means necessary be it a flying armbar, thrown, leg attack then take control, get mount position and proceed to rain down punches or apply a choke/submission...

  • @hekoka Nah man, after watching some Kosen Judo I'm pretty much convinced they are very much so the same martial art. Fact is that most people who practice judo don't practice newaza much anymore because it's not much a part of competition. Judo guys can do all the things you just said too..look up some Kosen Judo.

  • @odin23581 BJJ was an unknown art before Royce Gracie went to UFC and submitted every boxer, kickboxer, karateka and especially wrestlers and judokas!!! then came the BJJ craze and everybody was doing it!

most Pride champions were BJJ practitioners! its true that UFC rules favour the grappler but Royce was choking everybody when there was no rules.

  • Oh, as a result of the assumption previously mentioned, many BJJ don't give a second thought to Judo and consider it somewhat irrelevant or trivial. That's why Judokas are the ones to complain. :)

  • im a bjj practicioner, and to me judo is the missing pieces. i love all grappling arts if they're efficient. plus, judo and bjj are so closely related in history. to me they compliment eachother, and fit together.

  • Yes scum that practice the art that came BEFORE Judo.

  • Why is it scum BJJ?

  • Brazilian..........

  • because he is a Judoka

  • asian lady in the start was ugly as sin kinda looked like jackie chan but hey she could kick my ass no doubt

  • lol @ 7:18

  • You should put some subtitles

  • just pouring sweat @ 6:29 NOW THERE'S AN ATHLETE

  • not really, the humidity in japan is so great you can sweat that much just sitting down doing nothing

  • Bah you want humidity come to northern Australia dude...

    It doesn't snow here ever

  • Laying it all out on the sacred mats.

  • 怎么都是 英文啊

  • No, he did not. That was a luxation but ... anyways that hurts. I felt that pain too.

  • haHAhaHAhaHaHA

    COITADO DO yoshida

o honorato deu um pal nele

  • We don't really now how long the brazilian was celebrating. It is possible that he celebrated for a little while and went over tollok at Yoshida. The way that the film was edited, we just cannot know.

  • the great yoshida

  • "Yoshida Hero of Judo and Judo-kas world wide" that's true, and maybe the brazilian guy won this fight but Yoshida is the best Judo ka of this time, and who is the brazilian guy???? only someone who beats Yoshida once. And he is a dick he didn't even check his oponnent after the throw. Japan is not only about Judo Kendo or fighting, It's all about respect and the brazilian fighters dont know that

  • Honorato is an amazing, world-class judo player. Give him the credit he deserves. There are a ton of great Judokas coming out of Brazil.

You have to realize that these guys grew up studying Yoshidas tapes. Of course they are going to be ready for his Uchimata with a counter.

  • I don't think anyone is doubting Honorato's skill. Everyone has a problem with his sportsmanship. He didn't even go over and see if Yoshida was alright. However, it could be possible that Honorato just didn't notice. When you win a judo match, then you are in a very special moment. I don't think that Honorato was ignoring Yoshida on purpose. HE was just so happy, he probably didn't notice Yoshida was hurt.

  • To show proper respect you should not commemorate while inside the mat... Only after leaving it you are allowed to commemorate. This is Judo etiquette. It seems that Yoshida doesn't show respect either. You don't know what you are talking about Honorato. He's a guy that respects very much all his adversaries. He did not realized Yoshida's injury, since you don't expect a top judoka like yoshida doing such terrible ukemi, will you?

  • yes

  • Ugh... gave me chills that wasn't even fun

use his arm to attempt his balance then just break...UGH -.-"""

    still that was skilled

  • fuck the brazillian guy didnt even give a damn.

  • That Hurt

  • Fucking hell, that was nasty..

  • Long live Yoshida! god that break looked terible. damn that replay looked BRUTAL!

  • damn... that got to hurt
