how can you know that this is original 3000 years old melody? I mean I don't want to say it isn't, in fact it is much more interesting if it is, but how can we know for sure that it is?
This is one of the melodies claimed to be deciphered by the late Suzanne Haik Vantoura, of the 3000 year old music once attached to the entire text of the Hebrew Bible - these melodies were sung by the Levitical Choir in the Courtyard of the Temple of Jerusalem, as part of the ancient Temple Services...
Check out the "teamaim" channel to hear the reconsituted 3000 year old music of the Bible! The notation Suzanne Haik Vantoura deciphered, was based on the mysterious "Te Amim" accents found in the oldest copies of the Hebrew text of the Bible. She realized that these markings were trascriptions of hand gestures - a system of musical notation used also in ancient Egypt called "chironomy", whereby hand signals indicate specific pitch/ornamentation
I have seen the Begena here on YT, and I was quite amazed - it is, quite literally a bass register version of the Kinnor of King David and the Levites, even down to the 10 strings - exactly the same number of strings used on the ancient Kinnor, which the ancient writings of the Jewish historian, Josephus Flavius clearly describe! The Krar is perhaps even closer to the Biblical Kinnor Lyre, as this is of a similar size, and so shares the same tenor register as the Kinnor.
Wow, you really rose to the occasion on this one! :D The changes in mode would indeed be a challenge on a high-tension lyre (though as you say, not nearly so much on an ancient lyre).
I am now in the initial planning stages of my first EVER album of this fabulous ancient lyre music!!! What tracks from my Youtube Channel would you most like to hear on such an album? I'm thinking of including the 3400 year old Hurrian Hymn, a small selection of ancient Greek melodies, my improvisation on an ancient Egyptian scale, a selection of Jewish Klezmer music, and some traditional Jewish melodies; all arranged for lyre...WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
Thank you very much. for this free time machine trip. Really beautiful song. I show my gratitude by saying to you:
May the Lord bless you and guard you -- יְבָרֶכְךָ יְהוָה, וְיִשְׁמְרֶךָ
May the Lord shine His countenance toward you and be gracious to you -- יָאֵר יְהוָה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וִיחֻנֶּךָּ
May the Lord lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace' --
יִשָּׂא יְהוָה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם

Are these te exact same songs they sang in the OT? If so what were the purposes? Just festive, or to God himself?

The original Harp is the BEGENA,it is used to play Davids chants in Abyssinia ( Ethiopia, Eritrea). They still use it for many church related chants.
It sounds like a base guitar and if played in a proper manner it can be quite impressive.
