Hi, I'm kinda curious; does the engine not need a timing advance system due to the fuel/air charge in the cylinder being much closer to it's pre-ignition flash point? From what I understand a turbocharger does not heat the intake air but the act of compressing the air forces all of the ambient heat into a smaller space causing the temp to go up.
The main reason is the runner length, draw through systems will need and like more advance to help with throttle response off boost so you would want to bump the timing up to make the engine more lively. But once on boost you would want the timing lower based off of the total amount of boost and your combo.
do you ship overseas? i live in Australia in south australia, could you give me a quote on how much shipping for a kit would cost if you do ship overseas?
We do but its hard to give a price, I can tell you Its 2x big boxes at 45lbs each so the US Postal gives a price on there site at: $260 each box. Not cheep!
is the block on that 1600 stock was there any thing done to the bottom end also how much is a basic kit coast i have a 1970s 1600 stock will there be any issues if i bolt all that on also is it easy to maintain for some one who doesn't know turbo's
Normal boost is 7 psi. If you really want increasd e horsepower, need at least 14-17 psi... That requires a bigger wastegate than 38mm cuz the spring will give too fast.
Not true as the size of the valve will not dictate the total boost unless you out flow the valve size and 14lbs will not do that. Most wastegates preset open point is based off of the springs in them. We have 8,11,14,16, and 18lb springs that can be adjusted from ½ the set point to over double the preset spring rate.
We do off other brands to replace if you like, you will have to pay the difference just like any other fab shop! This would push the price up and you will have to pay for it. We just give you more in our basic kit.
and what? build your own kit with a bunch of cobbled together parts like you did? Or buy what these guys offer, ready to bolt in kits that fit with little fuss, no cutting, unlike your homebuilt system...
But go ahead and piss on these guys for offering a high quality kit because you want people to see that shitty looking mess you have stuffed in the back of your bug.
Umm learn VW's dude. My "cobbled together kit" as you call it, is a CB Performance hideaway Blow thru turbo kit. Nothing Homemade here guy. My turbo is a Schwitzer S2a. This Kit is a draw thru kit not blow thru. The turbo's used on these kits are the cheap china turbo's that are found on ebay. The boost controller in kit is a knock off of a turbosmart. The pro billet distributor, knock off of an MSD dizzy. There are many "knock off" look-a-like parts in this turbo kit. BUYER BEWARE!!!
The turbo in your CB kit is not from the USA, Turbosmart parts made in Australia not USA, MSD Distributors are not 100% made in the USA just some of the parts,
100% of all our turbos have been and will all wise be assembled 100% in USA, Come with 1 year warranty. So sorry to bust your business bashing dreams but these are not eBay turbos. We use parts from many different country's of origin, Thats the same with every part in your life,, TV's, cars, the sheets on your bed, etc. If you don't like what we are offering thats OK, I just want to know if your investing the same amount of time trying to slander your TV, car and sheet manufacture?
Rattybmxbug yeah the turbo is carbon sealed. I have a kit from these guys. I upgraded my 71 dualport to a chromoly cw crank, dual high rev spring, eng 100 cam, stainless valves, solid rocker shafts, and chromoly pushrods. Im making about 220 hp on race fuel. Total cost with engine upgradesabout $3200. alexeka when they say 300 to 350 thats the max power that kits good to like on say a 2332.
Thats just shit man! No way a 1600 vw pounds out 325HP. A maxed out turbocharged 1600cc leavs no more then upp to 200hp, and then you would need real race heads, counterweghit crank and a lot of other stuff. And you would have to burn at least 10K in to a motor like that.
Remember, there's a difference between a 1600 that's bone stock, and a 1600 that's had a ton of stuff done to it, and a 1600 with a turbo. I have a 1915 naturally aspirated motor and I made 108 hp at the wheels, it's in a daily driven 1968, had the motor built three years ago, NO motor issues.... and oh yeah, this guy built the motor for me!
omfg! 325hp! out of a bug motor most i think iv seen was 211 out of a 1835cc motor that's insane and i think that kit would fit on my 1600 cc dual port! how much is the kit!
Will this kit work for a lowered 65 VW bus? how far below the oil pan does the exhaust hang down?

In terms or PSI, what type of boost is "normal boost"?
davejcarter 2 years ago
@davejcarter
Its the detonation on pump gas that your concerned about. You will want to run the most boost based on what your combo will awol with out detonation.
mrkadron 1 year ago
will all that will fit under the decklid and the rear apron?
shogunballa14 2 years ago
Yes, but on our larger turbo combos they will not do to just the size of the turbo.

Yes but on oval windows its hard, we like to build it on ovals so then we know it fits!
