And in the facist side it went the "Rata" (Rat) name from the italian bomber crews, because of the Republican avitors strategy to approach flying low covered by the skyline, until the last moment, jumping over the bombers "like rats", so it is kind of an acomplishment... ¡Viva La República! ¡No Pasarán! The Guardian angels of the Republic of Spain. For me each name is good. The Mosca one (that was because when they went to Spain in ships from the Soviet Union they did in crates that said Moskva (Moscow), which sounds like the spanish word "Mosca" -Fly). That was in the Republican side. CONTINUES...

Polikarpov I-16 Mosca has a fantastic roll rate, not displayed in this mild flight. I don't know if even the Focke-Wulf 190 could keep up in the roll rate department, & it was no slouch.

The Engine is not the Original. The one thats installed here is taken from the AN-2,....

Sound is the same but i bet its more funny to use it in the I-16 :-)

Excellent video and sound. That I-16 has the Russian airforce markings. However the Spanish nationalists pro Franco were the ones that called it Rata. The Republican side which was the one that flew them called it Mosca. A very maneuverable plane, during the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936.

@asconese Rata was the name that the Franco's forces gave him in Spanish Civil War. That's the name given by the enemy of that plane. "Mosca" is how the pilots of the I-16 call them in the opposite side, the republicans.

I think it's better to name a plane as they pilots did, not as they enemies did, isn't it?

Aber eine Gnome Rhone lizens , von dem 14 cylinder motor (montiert, auf den Bloch 152 und verbessert auf Bloch157) , wurde den Japaner werkauft und von ihnen werbessert: benutzt auf den Mitsubishi A5m6 "Zero" jäger und andere)
