  • 240p, here we meet again. Old joke, isn't it?

  • 473 people like Nickleback

  • Puts all the bands that have double bass break downs to shame sheer talented, and diverse music

  • anyone who is basing their opinions of this band off of this song really shouldn't. i suggest listening to "unretrofied" or "black bubblegum" and then listen to "milk lizard" or "gold teeth on a bum" and then come back to "panasonic youth" and then maybe some of your opinions will change. :)

  • mathcore

  • 1st song i heard was milk lizard checked out some other stuff from them and didnt like it to much,

but it grew on me now i fucking love them.

3weeks and they open for system!!

  • FUCK MY DRUMSTICKS FLEW OUT OF MY HANDS!!!

FUCK MY PICK FLEW OUT OF MY HANDS!!!

FUCK THE MIC GOT DISCONNECTED FROM THE WIRE!!!

  • Why is this still up here in 240p? I swear there's only 5 fucking pixels. Dillinger deserve high definition, damnit! The audio quality is terrible and does not do this track any good whatsoever.

  • 467 unlikes? what is wrong with these people?, mercy, mercy, mercy.

  • The Bass guitar is fucking eargasmic ^^

  • The first DEP song I heard was Unretrofied and I was hooked on that, then I was like WTF mate with they're other stuff. Then I grew to love it. They're just good at everything, they could be huge with catchy still intelligent music, but they choose to stay true to their vision

  • youtube's relatively shitty quality doesnt do this song justice either

  • listening to the dillinger escape plan is like drinking beer, at first you are wtf is this shit? this tastes horrible, but then you are like I need more of this shit!!

  • @acm222 the best description ive ever seen about them , i thought the same bro

  • Holy shit it took me forever to figure out the time signatures in that guitar break at 1:00

    4-7-7 4-5-6 4-7-7 4-5-6

a lil help to everyone :)

  • @SabianAHX thanks, but just do it by ear man! pretty sure they don't even know all their time signatures, they just do it!!

  • @PearlJamm From a drummer's point of view, you gotta know the time signatures of that stuff. You can't rely on your bandmates to play it perfectly and listen to them to hear the parts, all while keeping time. That's just a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Either way, I just did it for fun. I couldn't play this shit for my life haha

  • like if the next thing that came into your head was cry your eyes bloodshot

  • And people compare these geniuses to bands like bring me the horizon or other crap mainstream heavy bands. The closest you'll get to DEP in terms of quality is Rolo Tomassi.

  • @joshm3055 rolo tomassi is awfullllll melvins is closest not in style but in creativity

  • @TheDallyLama Rolo Tomassi are brilliant. Listen to Kasia, it's RT's equivalent of Mouth Of Ghosts pretty much.

  • Ok. Single word - 'hardcore' means nothing, but there are genres like NYHC, beatdown hardcore or metalcore as combination of metal and hardcore. So you can't say there's not a 'hardcore' genre. HC has its own subculture, history and musical heroes. There's no point in comparing DEP and f.e. Mastodon. I like both of these bands, but they are just incomparable.

  • I understand all the haters when they say it's too chaotic and too loud, BUT you gotta be f***ing retards if you claim they're randomly hitting notes. For the last time - quit with your ignorance and stop being spoil-sport and if you don't like it, just skip to bands you like.

  • @SiriusAl Of course they aren't randomly hitting notes. They know what they are doing, but it doesn't sound good. It sounds like shit and it isn't even that complex. Their live shows are even worse. They're a disgrace to metal.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood Maybe, cause they're not metal, they are hardcore

  • @SiriusAl Hardcore isn't a genre, and if it was, it would be a really shitty genre.

  • @SiriusAl it actually sounds fucking awesome and its harder to play than a lot of metal in my opinion

  • @wafcake I totally agree :)

  • I'm going to see these guys in February next year, fuck yeah!

And to the people saying it's all noise? FUCK your inability to cope with such complex structures and technicalities.

  • This is all noise to me.. talented noise. But it's hard to tell if I can like this band or not all of their songs sound different. I have to listen to every single song they've done to know if I like it. I guess that's pretty impressive for a band! xD

  • @KrossPoison1 It's hard to appreciate it if you don't have an ear for it to begin with.

  • @AktionF1413 I made up my mind a few days ago and decided these guys are pretty good

  • I never heard these guys until i seen them open for Mastodon and they Freakin kicked A!!!!!....I LOVE Dillinger Escape Plan...reminds me of old school hard-core like Black Flag...

  • Do anyone of you remember what did you think when you heared DEP for the first time? As for me it was 'WTF is going on?', but later: 'OMG, they are GODS'

  • @SiriusAl first time i was completely puzzled.

it's now one of my favourite songs ever

  • @SiriusAl ah ah! yeah! the first time I heard them I said: "they must be erased from the planet face!"....one year later I went to their concert ^^

  • @abc15003 I had exactly the same with Converge! First time I heard them I was like WTF is this garbage! And now their my favourite band haha.

God how funny it can be to look back at yourself. :D

  • @SiriusAl lol, Panasonic Youth was the first song I ever heard by them. I had sworn off the band for about a year and a half because it was such a punch in the throat, until I got Option Paralysis.

  • @Gillhero I'd love to tell you that there's and apostrophe in "I'd" in front of your English teacher :P

  • yeah i guess unretrofied was BEFORE the design the skyline inspiration

  • Id love people to tell them their music shit right infront of the lead singer lol.

  • @Gillhero

Have you seen the lead singer? He's like 240 solid muscle lol... He's been known to step on fans faces, imagine what he'd do...

  • @YayPancakess which is the exact point i was getting at....

hmmmm i think i should have made it clearer. i love TDEP

  • @Gillhero i won't lie, didn't enjoy them at first. Grew on me bigtime.

  • scratch it for the don

  • soo boring

  • Comment removed

  • Great name for a band. Saw that these guys were touring with Mastodon. Was really hoping to like them but they are not for me.

  • @lowend922 To alternative to me?I cant hearsome sogs by them,to much crazyness XD

  • wooooow, anyone whos hatin and thin this is "random shit" doesnt know wat theyre talkin about. look up Design The Skyline. literally THE WORST band ive ever heard. listen to that, cuz thats shitty music.

  • @tklink9 CONFIRMED

  • The only reason I'm watching this is because of Chris Pennie.

  • che pagliacci sono questi?esibizionisti con le pezze al culo che farebbero di tutto pur di farsi notare.............

  • Check out HateFace-Knuckledragger

  • So do these guys play anything else or r they stuck in the metal box with this same sound all day? Sorry but this shit gets boring!

  • @MrAO79 look up widower

  • @undernorm ... Lol no you couldn't haha it's really technical. And noo it's obviously not just screaming there's drums, bass and guitar also dumbfuck. You obviously don't know anything about music

  • @Deanguitarman123 I know enough to recognize what's good and what's shit. This is shit. It sounds like a bunch of mentally disabled kids pretending to be rock stars. If you like this, you must know less about music than I do.

  • So a friend told me to check this band out, and I have to say they're fucking terrible. All they do is fucking scream, it's not even music! I could play this shit even though I don't even play an instrument!

  • @undernorm

Hahaha i fucking dare you to learn this song on ANY instrument..

  • @BotchUpAndDie shouldn't be too hard. Just randomly hit a bunch of strings and scream like a fucking idiot. Then afterward I can brag about how "technical" and "complex" it was.

  • @undernorm

    ..No.

You obviously have no idea what your talking about if you think there just randomly hitting strings.

Personally, I can hear the emotion in this, the energy, the thought that went into it, the mindfucking rythms etc, and if you cant, well yer missin out buddy. :)

  • @undernorm I've never understood this criticism of the band. They aren't randomly hitting a bunch of strings, the guitarists are very obviously playing in time with the complex rhythms of their INSANE drummer. I know you're a pleb, but try to listen closely. It SOUNDS random, but it's not. As for the screaming, well, you'd be the kind of guy who bitched out the punks in the 70's. Because you're a square and so thoroughly uncool.

  • @BotchUpAndDie Haha, exactly. It would end in a minute with all of his fingers bleeding

  • @undernorm Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't music, dumbfuck. Music is anything with a beat and notes. I'd like to see you try and learn any part of this song. I'll make sure to keep a lookout for your vid. Until then you're a little fucking troll baby.

  • @QueefbagAnil What do you mean by that ?

  • Listening to Mathcore in 240p. yay

  • Tom Hardy = Singer

  • @QueefbagAnil Nope, Kangaroos are only allowed to watch 240p! ;)

  • @Madzguy007 he knows my secret :O

  • @Madzguy007 kangaroos are from Australia lol. ur thinkin of Giraffes

  • @QueefbagAnil Look at the year the video was posted :)

  • Czar.bandcamp.com

    Go. Now.

  • NEXT THURSDAY WITH MASTODON IN INDIANAPOLIS!!!!!!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!

  • @ALANIZMASTODON hell yeah man cant wait too see them in philly with mastodon and red fang

  • Would make a person whos gay for hollywood undead want to commit suicide.

  • This is the legit mathcore!

  • WASH THE TURTLE!!!!!!!

  • What of those pixels are Greg ?

  • 0:36 RIDE THE GOLDEN SHOWERRR!!! XD

  • Comment removed

  • SOUNDWAVE NEXT YEAR FUCK YEAH! CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THESE GUYS!

  • This song is so complex that it would actually take talent to headbang to this. And you'd probably go unconscious at around 1:19.

  • @the300 You would just look like you were having a seizure. It would be better to just headbang to the beat of a 4-4 time signature and you'd probably be perfectly on the downbeat every 73rd headbang.

  • this is what happens when you try to play dubstep. and you make it. =D

  • 2 swole.

  • I love their approach: fuck time signatures

Also hats off to people for not hating and being positive through the comments! These guys are good whether you like them or not

  • Screamo!

  • even though I'm not the biggest fan of this music, it definitely makes me wonder how the fuck they write it. I find whenever you listen to a new style of music you should really put aside all your bias and try to judge it by the emotion it puts out. sure at first it sounds like chaotic shit, but these guys obviously have some message or vibe they are trying to get across. I find the more chances you give music like this, the better you will understand it

  • i wanna start a mathcore band that sings about math, that's be sweet. and retarded. but mostly sweet.

  • Lol at the comment below this one

  • i can get a better resolution on a SNES

  • Truly masterful band, love 'em!

  • shockingly shit

  • it's called Mathcore because the music is written based on math, not because they sing about math, they bars and tempo changes have been written using simple math, therefore it's called Mathcore.

  • down with 240 p

  • this is not the song i'd make a music video for from this album, this makes them seem a lot more generic than they are imo

  • I would like to hear moar songs like Farewell Mona Lisa

  • music is good, too bad the vocals are shit. jens kidman's has more bass, this one just screeches - like an overdriven guitar, or like any other screamo / riff and howl metal band.

  • HOLY SHIT!! This is AMAZING!! The song of FUTURE!

    MATHCORE!

  • people who think this is just noise are not musically matured yet....I hated them too until i couldn't stand simplicity anymore and needed the rush of fresh music

  • @NOBAMAftw no no and no

  • Fuckin' amazing!

  • now this is metal

  • I got math class in 15 minutes, I need my fuel, DEP.

  • When I first heard this, I HATED it. I was at a point where my definition of musicianship went as far as bands like Slipknot, Slayer. Kinda, starter metal, the kinda thing that is quite accessible but heavy.

Listening to it now...there's something about it thats good... Structured chaos like the dude below me said... it's not noise, it's just chaotic.

  • @DopeDethrone "Just noise" - ?!?!?! This is way, way off from my kind of music (was hearing Cole Porter and Chet Baker just a while ago....), but these guys are incredibly talented musicians! The sudden changes in tempo and outlandish use of rhythm is just mind-boggling! It is totally beyond me how they can pull it off. This sort of "structed chaos" is very, very hard to do - hats off to these guys! Their brilliant!

  • @waltersmetak I was a bit skeptical before I heard these guys live. It sounds like they must have been using protools to make things tighter, but they're seriously this talented. They are this good in a live performance.

  • @cassandramorrigan Yep! My friend's band was fortunate enough to open for these guys. They opened with this song, then 43% Burnt. I couldn't have been happier :p

  • @waltersmetak it's all over the place. meshuggah actually has structure and meaning in their songs. There's no hook to this music at all. Seems to me they're just a bunch of musicians who want to show off how good they are at odd times and stop-start rhythms, instead of actually contributing to music.

  • @ddrumdude you'd probably like some of their other tunes, not all their stuff is this chaotic, not that I agree with you at all because I this is a fucking great song.

  • @waltersmetak yes but does it sound good.

  • I was surprised how few people likes this band.. I know it's noisy, and when people use that as an argument, i think of them as the old grandma conservatives that thought Black sabbath was noisy.. But i guess it's just hard to get in to.. I Introduced my bandmates to Cannibal Corpse and Meshuggah, not their usual listen, and they eventually loved it, but this band is just "Not their style" according to them.. To bad for me then, but everyone has their own taste

  • @94sprite I think the problem people have with this band as opposed to bands like Meshuggah is how quickly things change. Whilst Meshuggah use equally or even sometimes more complex rhythmic structures, the music is repetitive enough for you to get a feel for the odd-timings and polyrhythms. These guys however, will always trip you up if you try and comprehend it too much; what matters here is the whole picture - textures rather than riffage - and I suppose that's why it's not for everyone.

  • @bwebster1992 could be man, sounds about right. I love both bands though, saw Meshuggah this summer at Metaltown- sweden, best gig ever! Hope i'll get to see these guys some time.

  • @94sprite Yeah I managed to catch Meshuggah last year at Soundwave, Australia and it was probably the best live set I've seen! Saw these guys back in '09 at the same festival too, they opened with this track. Pure mind-blowing energy - as soon as they started everyone sort of did a double take and then went nuts! haha.

  • hahah, you're lucky man! Dunno if it's your cup of tea, but i found out Cannibal corpse is playing sweden in february! So i'll get to se them at least, one of my favourite bands

  • @DopeDethrone yeah that's fair, i can see that, i've had a listen to the other songs, i think that the first thirty seconds of this song just make me go wtf lol but yeah understandable

  • @DopeDethrone I'm not going to pretend to like it just because it's different and complicated, sure it's intelligent, complex and unique blah blah but it just sounds like shit. I honestly don't see the point in listening to this. I can listen to anything from death metal to crappy pop but i would never listen to this and enjoy it.

  • Fuck he is buff O.O

  • @SkyRocketGamers He's fucking gorgeous. Have you seen him in Farewell, Mona Lisa? :D

  • Hmm... I like this, but I have a question: how in the world am I supposed to headbang to it???

  • @pimpsonparade Just violently throw yourself around, flailing madly. It'd be a pure example of chaos maths

  • This is definately the worst thing i've ever heard.

  • @ViciousGuitarist definitely*

  • @ScyllaAndCharybdis1 yes that, thank you.

  • @Rotterfest I know what you mean. I was an a7x fan for the first album and it has nothing to do w/ DEP. The only similarity is that both singers scream now and then and sing now and then. That is it.

  • If DEP would do a Mathcore homage to Charles Ives (e.g. play "Putnam's Camp") would be way to awesome for words.

  • @Rotterfest If you actually heard any of what was on their first album you would know that what they played sounded very similar and back when they started out they were the opposite of what was considered popular and that coment just proves how little you know about music and its evolution.

  • @MegaJackass81 lols u mad?

  • @MegaJackass81 dude no one cares what you have to say. GTFO

  • @MegaJackass81 lols u mad bro? don't be mad at the pikachu, its just sayin hi, u loser. trollololol

  • @Rotterfest I agree. They probably wouldn't touch odd time arrangements or try to experiment to far out to where they would lose there old sound. but City of Evil was awesome and the only album i liked cuz all the songs were good. I believe they did experiment. not in terms of odd time sigs but in styles. old spagetti western, flaminco, power/speed metal, a track from megaman inspired, shared vocal harmonizing, orchestras. things they wanted to inspirely do for a long time... its all there!

  • @MegaJackass81 If you didnt give a shit then why did you comment or reply? you just got trolled. trollololol. BTBAM FTW LOSER!!!

  • @Charlizardine Its mathcore! Fuckin sick!

  • What genre is this considered. It's not quite noise. isn't really scream-o. I think they kinda have their own thing, like Korn or Primus...

  • @MegaJackass81 na you just think you know everything which makes you an ass for ASSuming i listen to it cuz everyone does. o and u obviously dont know squat about mainstream music like you imply you do because btbam isnt even mainstream. and i wont even bother asking what you believe is "real music" because, no one gives a shit wat you think. loser

  • WASH THE TURTLE

  • @Rotterfest A7X has talent, but like you said, they squander that talent by playing a trendy form of metal. Nontheless, they're insane musicains. but you're right, they would never cross the line that The Dillinger Escape Plan has. *Back to this video* These guys are insane

  • If you all are to stupid to remeber a7x used to do music similar to this when they first became a band they simply evolved as artists and insulting them for that is pretty stupid and im open for anyone to try and argue with me about that

  • @TTTTTJJJJJJJJ hilarious comment. a7x have never done anything like this.

  • Greg would kick everyone in avenged sevenfold's ass at the same time. Bunch of vaginas

  • Awesome! 9,8/10

  • 447 blacks cant understand anything unless its 4/4 rap

  • @Azoresprince9 yeah?

  • @Azoresprince9

You stupid faggot, blacks were the first to play mainstream music with unorthodox time signatures. Its called Jazz you stupid bafoon. Now go back to living in your country names after a bird.

  • @Azoresprince9 there's no need for racism

  • sigh its easy to pile riff, after different out of key riffs, and so on like wat these guys are doing. there is no flow wat so ever. no transition. ive tried listening to these guys hundred times and i still cant figure out how they win an award over BTBAM in best underground metal band. lol who cares about that, my point is wat btbam does is more well thought out than what these guys do. just pile on riff after riff with no flow and out of key. FAIL

  • @TheJeffum you really cant catch the transitions? guess you dont know what mathcore or the meaning is.

  • @rogerlikesbud na im pretty sure these guys suk and avenged sevenfold was right. they do just make a bunch of noise. Well bak to btbam and last chance to reason. enjoy your stay on the wagon of fail guys lols. keep representing the crap thats out there today and stay away from the good stuff. losers lols

  • @TheJeffum I lol'd - 4/10

  • @TheJeffum no A7X needs to downtune to sound 'heavy'..every single Dillinger Escape Plan song is written in E standard....

  • @TheJeffum I listened to these BTBAM before these guys, I fell in love with these guys and love them more than BTBAM now. The amount of originality these guys have is beyond explanation. Not only do they play in standard tuning, but they produce some of the most orgasmic sounds i have ever heard come out of a guitar. They don't incorporate a shit ton of chugging into their music which is also something I've come to appreciate. All their albums have technical mathcore songs and experimental stuff

  • @TheJeffum it sounds to me like you have no idea what being in key means. these guys are way more original than btbam, nobody sounds like DEP.

  • Dat hair.

  • One of the best bands in the world, regardless of genre. No matter how it sounds--heavy or soft--it's constantly interesting.

  • i wish my MATH teacher would teach MATHCORE.

    wouldn't that be awesome, eh?

    1 PLUS 1 EQUALS MOTHERF***KING TWOOOOOOOO(growls)....

  • @philippinekiamoy my old high school math teacher does haha

  • @philippinekiamoy I actually had a math teacher senior year who listened to Mathrock and Mathcore. Was pretty dope, he'd play it at the end of class.

  • @philippinekiamoy I actually listened to mathcore in my senior year math class.

  • @philippinekiamoy they dont sing about math though.. and even if they did.. it would be much more complex than "1+1=2"

  • I'd like if someone directed me as to what the time sigs are throughout the song. I'm not familiar with it.

The top thing I personally like about the band is the vocals. That guy is a monster. I wish more metalcore (not in the mathcore genre) vocals sounded as aggressive. Overall though, it's not very good to me. If the rhythm were more pronounced, I'd probably enjoy it more.

  • Everything about DEP is the best.

  • the mother dies with infant in arms

    the lifeless test tube,

    look what she's done

evolution gave us a clock that's always winding down

evolution gave us a clock that's always

     winding down

  • This is just noise. I don't care how "talented" you say they are. It sounds like crap.

  • & may I ask what music you listen to?
