Jack Campion was on just about every game show pilot ever. Did he ever actually win anything appearing on these pilots? Did he ever appear as a "real" contestant and win anything?
It's cool to see Jeopardy back in 1984 when Alex was younger. I used to watch Jeopardy when I was a kid back in my day. I miss watching it! I have Jeopardy on the PS1,PS2, and Nintendo Wii.
Somehow Jack Campion, over the course of his game show career, went from being a college student, to a law student, to a lawyer, to a...sales executive?!?!
The show seems to have been done more like it was done in the Art Fleming days. I've seen a few episodes from the original run in 1975 as well as "The All New Jeopardy" in 1978-79. Don Pardo used to introduce the contestants and Art Fleming as "Mr." or "Miss." Also, the way Alex explains the game at the beginning is similar to what Art Fleming used to do. I think in this day and age, a lot of that stuff was stopped to make the game go more quickly.
It is still incredible that this is (I believe) the last game show with the original host. Bob Barker left TPIR last year, and most of the other classic games (redone) don't have the original hosts. It is still really cool how long this show has been on, and that it is still very popular.
@zangazoo2007 As noted elsewhere, Art Fleming was the original host for the first two runs of Jeopardy! (1964-'75 and 1978-'79). He had refused to host this version for whatever reason as I recall, and that's how Alex Trebek (who is far better known now for hosting it) got the role.
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but... methinks the JEOPARDY! logo letters on the set seem wonky. Maybe it's just the video quality that makes the logo letters awkward. I'm not too sure.
@fungirl1950 It never aired because it never was intended to air. This was done to sell to stations across the country for syndication in late 1983-early '84 for the 1984-'85 season.
I'll have to double-check, but I think this was the only time Jack Campion ever had any winnings in all the pilots he appeared in. Granted, they're fictional(?) "previous 2-day winnings" that average to $8,800 per match, but...
Is this the same set used for the Jeopardy! premiere later in 1984?

So this pilot also marked the debut of th well-known Jeopardy! logo, also.

@georgef551 Yeah, for some reason, it only works on the left speaker.
