  • anyone know of any pesticides labeled for stink bugs? I just recently found out that Demand CS recently updated their label to treat stink bugs. So that's now aboard my truck.

  • i couda thot of this :-/

  • The stink bugs leave a pheromone that attracts them back to a suitable living area once the temperature starts to go down. This pheromone lasts for about a year so during late spring, early summer you want to seal all the cracks and holes that they might be able to squeeze through. If you can keep them out for one year, the pheromone will dissolve and they won't and shouldn't come back.

  • Don't smash them. Hold them in a kleenex or paper towel and flush them.

  • Also tape your roof.

  • Tape your house off inside and out, and use wire mesh or mosquito net for un-tapeable stuff they can get through. Being august now, this is when they return. Slowly but surely. So tape up! Duct, electrical, whatever! They won't get in.

  • Good basic portion of what needs to be done... or should I say "one" portion of preventative maintenance...

  • well thanks for the complement frank, actually i am not a kid, and am sorry i called you a moron, that was not very nice of me:( but this info just is not useful and i really dont think you know what you are talking about, hence all the other comments on here also stating the same thing, why are you just replying to my post? maybe you could do an update and let us know if there is any new useful info??

  • omg this guy is a moron-we have no shrubs or weeds around our house and we have them all in our attic-more useless info

  • @conniecorn4 You're a moron, Theres more than one type of stink bug... Don't go trolling on the internet kid.

  • Use soapy water, spray directly on bug,and it will die. Use very little soap in the mix. They pick a house because its in thier path, or the primer color is dark behind the paint on the house . They need heat like all bugs to digest thier food. poisons are listed for them but are not effective, because of its grooming nature. Remove plant waste and weeds from base of house-mostly on sunny side, you will notice some days these bugs are plentiful and others they are sparse, thats normal.

  • Its just that easy.....huh? I cant wait for that man's home to get invaded by stinkbugs!!! Does he REALLY believe what he's saying?

  • These pest control people DO NOT know what they are talking about! I live in Maryland where the stink bugs have invaded! They are even in our homes in the wintertime. Here is the problem, stink bugs "mark" their territory with their stink. If they find your home a great place to nest, they are going to live there again next year. You have to have your house pressure washed to get rid of the smell that attacts them AND spray the pesticides to get rid of them! I know!

  • @MsAmerica57 I live in PA and I completely agree, they are EVERYWHERE here, but one of the mistakes I made was to wait and see if they die off.

  • Semon seems to kill them, Yeah I stand out in the yard and just jerk and squirt on the little bastards! I've got the the neighbors doing it to. You should see my block.

  • hair spray blow torches seem to work pretty well too haha

  • @kgpatrick21you fighting a war you can't win

  • I put a dawn dish soap/ water solution in a spray bottle and mixed it around. It stayed homogeneous for a while and really works... And it cleans while it kills too so there's a bonus haha

  • Dawn dish soap kills them on contact.

  • i tried dishsoap and water in a pump sprayer and it seemed to work!

  • Wow a ton of bad information in this. I would be embarrassed to have this up.

  • Your right CyberDruid. That advice sucked. I'm in W Va. and I can't stop em. Sprays pesticides......

  • @bluekid105 Im in W.va i cant stop them.

  • That's weak advice. I live in the woods and there is no stopping them. I could spray residual oil from sprinklers 24 hours a day and they would still invade from the surrounding forest. Might work for PA, but in SW VA we need stronger measures.

  • @CyberDruidtheModGod lol, believe me, this "expert's" method wouldn't work here in PA either. They're all the same invasive species here in the mid-Atlantic states. This guy is feeding us misinformation. From the other comments posted, everyone knows it. Good luck!

  • @CyberDruidtheModGod My answer was based off the stink bugs here in Atlanta. I had no clue about the major issues happing up north. My apologizes for a very vague answer for a serious issue up north. You are more than welcome to contact us and I can give you advice on "control" or dropping the problem around your house.

  • @pestfreegogreen no worries man. They only showed up here in 05...just a few. But by 08 they were legion. They are sap suckers...and there is plenty of it...with no predators...plentiful food...we are doomed.

I did find a persistent residual pesticide that kills them (bipenthrin) but new ones just take their place. I sprayed at least a dozen times, wetting the whole exterior of the house. It was raining a lot so I had to reapply...but the bipenthrin works for a couple of weeks if not longer.

  • is neem oil good???
