Justin- Just for the recod I think you're great- one of the best teachers out there but...i do want to dispute/clarify the fingering. Slash does NOT use his pinky but his 3rd finger for the d on second string. Matter of fact for you younguns out there using your pinky above the 12th fret at all is really only for very wide interval licks or arpeggios.

The easiest way to tune down a semitone is to tune to normal with a capo on the first fret then just remove the capo.

As always a great lesson. May I make a request? In general, could you please refer to the notes (eg F sharp) you play not just the string/fret? (Thinner string 14th fret) I know we should all be locked on but for those old fogeys amongst us who grew up before the whole tab thing it would be a big help. Sometimes you mask the notes you are playing and if I am listening to your voice I can work it all out a little bit quicker. :) I really am not a whingeing Pom - you are de'best!

When you hear how Slash plays it then he does it differently. He doesn't use the pinky finger at all and you can hear it clearly. Your playing sounds wrong as the A and F# are way too short. You cant flatten the 3rd finger between the notes A and F#.

just my words!! slash did it for a reason. he knew it was gonna be a finger twister in the beginning and he didn't wanted the notes to sound to short or incorrect so he only did use his 3 first fingers

Nice justin... but your tone isn't all that accurate. Try using a delay and chorus pedal. A slight Wah-wah may also be required in order to get the exact same tone.

@ThomasBlithe No excuses bro. Get one at a time. I practiced with no amp for awhile before saving up to get one. The practicing is more important than equipment or pedal effects boxes when one starts out. Get the rest later...no hurry. Once you get to a decent level of playing, when U finally get the amp or effects, U'll be amazed at how U sound. :) Cheers and good luck on your passion/hobby.
