i actually read something about the mayan calender. from what i read, the mayan calender- though it stops on Dec. 21, 2012- doesnt say the world will end on that day, but it actually says that it is the end of a cycle. it was something i read a few months ago on yahoo news but i dont remember the name of the article so what i said is something paraphrased.

The Calendar works by numbers.
Scientists say that the Mayans worked by the numbers 13 and 22.
So one day the Mayans want to construct a calendar that is longer then all the rest.
And that calendar ends Dec 21/2012 which apparently looks something like this 13.000.000 on the calendar, and so when Dec 22/2012 the calendar will start again like 00.000.001. Something like that.
The Bible says that the world will end 2015.

In the 1800's peopel would stand on street corners wearing sings that said stuff like "REPENT and save your soul before the world ends." or " look at the world arround you. SATAN is free and hell on earth is here" There have always been crazy people who want the world to end because they think life sux.
