  • Actually all the soundtrack to the film that is missing from the technicolor sequence can be found somewhere on the Vitaphone Varieties website.

  • it shows the real romance was between the two men -- cute!

  • Life after death the right way and 4ever young on You Tube. This is magic. Love vintage pearls like this.

     .

  • @isleofyew1 Isn't that the truth? Robert Woolsey's been gone 75 years, turned to dust long ago, but

here he is as lively as ever. Its a strange thought, almost as if its his ghost on a piece of film.

  • Aw, this is great!

    I love Wheeler & Woolsey! :)

  • they had colour in 1929?

  • Yes, as early as 1922

  • was this a big buget production?

  • Yes, one of the biggest of 1929, Rio Rita. This film is 100 minutes, but 40 minutes is lost. if it were complete it would be over 2 hours

  • soooo - where's bebe daniels..?

  • Actually, they had color in the early 10's. It just wasn't popular until "The Toll Of The Sea" with Anna May Wong in '22

  • Dorothy Lee the girl on the left no?

  • These fellas are great! I've been surfing around youtube to catch all their clips. Thanks for putting this up. What a treat!

  • A clip of picture "magic" thank you so much!

  • Two of the same, but wonderful....wishin' the whole flic was available.........who said Musicals are dull............5 stars for the color and the posting...........

  • I love it that the little man-to-man kiss did not get banned by the censors!

  • Robert Wheeler looks a lot like Harold Lloyd

  • lol, "don't get sore now!"

  • Loved this!

  • What a couple of nutty fellows! The song is so beautiful is brings tears to my eyes. Thanks! 5 stars!

  • Those guys were so screwy...

  • the song is 'sweetheart, we need each other' which originated in the rko pic rio rita. that chorus version was from 'vagabond lover' ALL KNOWING OZ

  • I saw another version months ago (instrumental)

danced by a group of girls just after another song (waltz) but it was removed and I havnt seen it again.

Too bad as it was great. It was done in a charleston

    style. I miss it.

  • Absolutely wonderful...! Beautiful women, lovely song & those two were cracking me up the whole time..!

  • Yes....direrctly after this act there is supposed to be a jazzy instrumantal tap dance by a huge chorus....but alas it only survives in a "lost" "stolen" or "misplaced" print held my the Museum Of Modern Art. This clip is from the 1932 re-release. Another youtube user has the other vocal of this song up. I have it filed under my favorites.

  • This song has an instrumental version doesn't it?
