  • One of the finest matches I've ever seen. FOR SURE the best match I've seen on a Monday Night Raw.

  • Shit even the ring sounds better in these days !

  • I miss British Bulldog!

He was awesome and he represented Britain!

  • honky tonk man was great here

  • how sad is it that this match in 1997 completely owns 90% of current WWE matches.

  • yea this has less views than a fucking diva match shows wht wrestling about today tits for the men wannabe models for women and cena for kids! fuck wwe

  • Owen Hart R.I.P. in 1999 year,Bulldog dead too...

  • I remember when the Bulldog was a fan favorite. I bet he liked getting cheers again. In a match with two villains, being European in Europe made him the face. Listen to the booing when Owen does stuff.

  • These guys are doing everything in this match, fluid grappling, moves powers, top rope stuff, flips, great psychology and brawling move interesting than punch, punch, stomp, stomp, clothesline.

Feeling embarassed yet Cena? How about you Orton?

  • 2 greats who passed before ever gaining a world title. RIP

  • This was a fucking classic match damn this was good i wish this style of wrestling would come back owen hart u was the man R.I.P. i love and miss u soo much! damn this was very good! shout out and R.I.P. to davey boy to love and miss u as well!!

  • I think CM Punk and Bryan Danielson could pull a match like this off, if they wanted to/were allowed to.

It would blow the rest of the show away, though.

  • @TheBoltVanderhuge But now that Punk is back in the WWE title picture, and Danielson holds the Money In The Bank contract, we could see Punk v Danielson for the WWE title at WrestleMania. Now how freakin' ironic (and awesome) would that be?

  • Hard to believe thier both dead such potenional

  • Sounds like they're wrestling on a snare drum

  • This a classic match. R I P Own and Britsh Bulldog

  • Who is the colour commentator dor this match? It sounds a little like Cornette, but I don't think it is...

  • @linesinaconversation It's honky tonk man, he commentated a lot back in 97... he was good I miss him :D

  • thank you owen hart & davey boy smith for this match- RIP

  • I've watched this match for 20 minutes now. Sad that this match destroys today's RAW whole year.

  • true classic

  • absolutely fantastic!

  • "not a very nice thing to say." - vince

  • I can say that Raw will NOT have anything close to this caliber of a match tonight. : (

  • How can the superstars not today look at a match from the past like this and say to themselves, "gee, this match had great psychology, great selling, great athletics, fluid action and told a great story. I better stop making my match 70% flying shoulder tackles and Hogan-esque comebacks."

  • @dust0fnations

You tryna make a jibe at cena

  • @dust0fnations Yeah but then again, if you were to see a match of this caliber in the WWE, the crowd would more than likely start chanting "Boring" because they're not into the classic mat wrestling like this. Nowadays, the wrestling kids are into stuff like Rey Mysterio or John Morrison or Evan Bourne who do all of that flippy high flying crap. If WWE put CM Punk and Daniel Bryan against each other for 20 minutes and let them call it shoot style in the ring, WWE ratings would sky rocket.

  • @elijahpryor John Morrison does flippy high flying crap?

For one thing it's not crap when it's pulled of as well as John Morrison does it. For another thing, Owen Hart did many of the same moves that John Morrison does now (enizguri, the landing on his feet after being flipped, missile drop kick).

Just because some is athletic doesn't mean they're crap. John Morrison is a fantastic wrestler (and this from a die-hard owen hart fan).

  • @Lewis1711 John Morrison is crap... and don't compare him to Owen. So Owen had a few similarities, but he didn't rely on the high flying/no selling to get him over. He used straight up mic work, ring skills, and passion. Something that Morrison will never be able to gather. Morrison is the worst guy in WWE right now, followed by Evan Bourne and then Khali.

Not to mention the "landing of feet after being flipped" has all to do with however much momentum they get going into their rotation no them

  • @elijahpryor you same to have it out for anyone in the WWE that's a high flyer (which was own harts main gimmick in the late 80s/early 90s).

I'll just tell you this, as a die-hard '97 hart foundation fan I came back to wrestling last year because Bret Hart returned, and the one man that kept me watching was John Morrison (who Bret Hart thinks is amazing btw).

  • @Lewis1711 i have nothing against people who use highflying, but I just hate Morrison, Evan Bourne, and to an extent rey mysterio but only in the beginning... I find Primo to be entertaining, as I do Justin Gabriel. So no, i don't have it out for highfliers... I have it out for people who simply suck. Morrison's been carried his entire career, the guy's not that great no matter what Bret or anyone says.

  • 6:07 outch

  • funny how vince says WERE GIVING YOU ACTION.... not Talking..... ...

today he would be saying we are giving you nothing but talking & boobs + gay ass usa boringwood storylines

  • Yeah Vince is pissing on his own product right now

  • @hayabusafmw agreed !

  • one of those hidden gems of a wrestling match that was truly awesome to watch , reminds me of how big a fan i was of the two

  • How suitable that the first WWE European Champion WAS European

Just proves that the UK had just as much wrestling talent as the US back then

    RIP Davey Boy Smith

  • Aw, it cut off the handshake at the end.

  • Why Owen changed to ''Th e Blue Blazer''? I alwys knew he was the only one who could defeat his brother more times than anybody.

  • Owen used to use the blue blazer gimmick in Japan if I remember correctly. But rumor has it he was asked to get into a story line where he'd have an affair with Debra and feud with Jeff Jarret and he refused because he didn't want his kids to see it. So Vince Russo stuck him with the blazer gimmick. According to Russo it was to accentuate Owen's sense of humor as people have said in interviews he was always the jokester.

  • Owen Hart and The British Bulldog = 2 of the best wrestlers that have ever graced the wrestling ring. Wrestlers today are not as great as these two men were. I wish wrestling was as good as it was back then.

  • This match I've watched about 20 times now and I still never get bored of it. It maybe be the absolutely perfect example of what a great match should be. Great technical moves, great psychology and an intreging story line (this eventually led in part to the Hart Foundation reunion of 97)

    I miss these guys.

  • Definitely one of the greatest matches of all time. I think this was much more entertaining than steamboat vs savage at wrestlemania III.

  • I wouldn't go that far, although I know it depends on personal preference,(I'm a Savage mark first and foremost) but yeah this was a fantastic match.

Owen and Bulldog held together the tag division for awhile there. How bout them v. Hart Foundation, that would've been a great match.

  • Yea that would be a great match.

  • Agreed

  • OWEN HART : the master of the spinning heel kick.

  • I loved Davey Boy.

Probably beats Kobashi as my favourite of all time.

  • ...I miss those guys...T.T

  • 2 leggende!!
