I agree!! Slang was a good album!!..I like 80's Lepp and I liked the "new" sound Lepp too!!..I guess they had to move on with times!! proves they were a serious thinking band!!!...
i think its ok to have an opinion...i also think that having people say they like one album better than another is good for the band because they have made different sounding albums... if you want some more pop rock then Hysteria and Adrenalize....you want more hard rock then the early albums or Retro Active... i cant stand Slang but i 'truly love Def Leppard'...not having to like everything they do is called being independent
I agree with u. Def Leppard is my fav band, but i prefer Hysteria and Adrenalize. i dont like Slang either. everyone has got their own taste in music. :)
There is a lot of us out there who agree that early Lep rocks harder. It's a fact. Some of u prefer a slower pop sound--fine--but don't try to say that we are stuck in the past--we just prefer a harder sound. They have evolved--some of us like it, some don't.
joe's voice is unmistakable. Its very hott, and THE BEST rock voice ever...even if it is mellowed out here...its still electric!! Plus, i'd recconize a phil collen riff anywhere...ya'll need to be a little bit more die hard and loyal...
I like the old Lep albums...sorry! I am glad that they are still around but I just don't dig the new stuff too much. It's just a preference tho I agree with trying to evolve as a band. I just don't enjoy this song and the way he sings it.
To be "die hard and loyal" doesn't mean u need to like everything they do.
This is simply putrid dance rock compared to the high octane rocket fuel rock'n'roll they used to play back in the 'High N Dry' days. Sad what these guys have turned into.............
Never got to see this the first time around. Very nice camera work on that show. I don't think I've seen that many close-ups of Sav in a while. Awesome!
Thanks so much for posting this, I'm a HUGE Lep fan but had never seen this before. Slang is one of my favorite albums by them even though it's different from the early stuff. Heck, the early stuff is different from Hysteria. If you're a true Lep fan, you probably like all their albums, not like the casual fan that bashes some of their stuff.
I agree that Slang is soo underrated, it is not the bad. Whats wrong with a little change, Slang is just a fun song and Work it Outm is good. You can't judge them one one album. Hysteria is the best album ever made.
probably 1996. this is actually my first time to see it. i never thought anyone would put them on tv at that time given the attitude of everyone towards them.
Slang is an album that ages well...Not to take anything away from their earlier work, just think Slang ages well...like, well, like Me and My Wine which sounds totally different
The were one of my favorite bands in the 80s, but in the 90s they flaked out and put out a lot of crap. I think they were to worried about fitting in as a 90s buzz band and that was a mistake becuase it just was not them.
Slang is just an amazing piece of work. Listened to it through top of the line headphones and wow all the little nuiances and sounds they created are just a delight to the ears. Its my absolute fav.
Not true. They haven't had as much commercial success, but that is in part because how can one keep selling 10 million+records per release, and also because frickin Nirvana came in, and totally screwed up the rock scene allowing alternative and all this other crap that is so-called "new" rock gain popularity. Most of their albums are kick-butt.
I love love love High And Dry, though, it's a wee bit rough. I love Pyromania. For me, Hysteria's good...but I'd rather hear the songs in a live format, rather than from the album. I truly don't think they've made a BAD album. But there have been songs that haven't..rung true, I guess. I can't wait to see their new material!
Such an underrated album - at least the good news is that the new material they're working on is "half Slang, half Hysteria". That could be a very interesting combination...
The next day Nevermind was released and the eighties were officially over.

JOE ELLIOTT's voice is amazing. He can scream, shout and rock out then cool it down and breath out a deep ballad...what a man!!

Great song from a great album. Some of you are stuck in the past.

That's cool. But listen to Gift of Flesh or Truth, and tell me it's not as hard as anything they've ever done.

They look really good---but this song is unbearable.

Joe looks hot here---his voice doesn't sound anything like his "rock" voice. I agree w/ trying something new---but this just doesn't work.
I would never say this was Leppard if I couldn't see them and only hear them. Sad--

Slang is their most under-appreciated albums. If you haven't listened to it for a while, bust it out.

I think Slang is Def Leppard's second best album only behind Hysteria. All must hail to Hysteria. Pearl Of Euphoria is one of their best songs ever.

Slang's one helluva album, Joe's vocals are impeccable and there's such a rawness to it that's phenominal.

Amen! Joe's vocals ARE impeccable and Slang, in my opinion, is one of Def Leppard's best albums next to High and Dry. LOVE this tune and the album!
