Lin Dan played like he was injured and not his usual attacking style. Not to take anything away from Lee Chong Wei's play, he played amazing and glad he won but I wonder if LD was taking it easy a bit.

To make things very clear, chong wei won this match out of his own effort and not because lin dan gave him chance or didn't smash or conserve energy and any other bullshit. Secondly, at 1:27 when chong wei asked lin dan to change d ball, both of them looked at d umpire at 1:30 who said no. So please stop swearing and cursing lin dan for that coz both lin dan and chong wei r gud frens. Who wouldn't wanna use a new ball and play? Both men played well but chong wei was better. Thats all peeps!!

Congrats to LCW but, like some have said, it seemed as if LD wasn't too bothered; too passive and willing to extend rallies to the point where he got predictable. In the 2009 finals, he was far more aggressive; not attacking incessantly, but just more willing to inject pace to seize or create opportunities. When he attacked here, he was still effective, but he didn't do it enough. Simply put, the way LD played works on others, but LCW deserves his best, and anything else is disrespectful.

@onguy3n It looks as if LD isn't that motivated. And who can blame him - he has won this tournament 4½ times and every other title worth winning in the badmintonworld. To me LCW, hasn't been better, so fast extremly strong. Still you can find at least 7-8 opportunities for Lin Dan to attack infront of the double-service-line, yet he chooses to either drop or clear(for instance 3:54). It's such a shame we haven't really got that one match, where both of them are at the top of their games.

I believe Dato was playing mind game for point No.20, he goaded Lin Dan into rushing for the net kill and was ready for the interception. A very patient game with deep high clears... is the 'stroke' playing style back in fashion? Salute Misbun the stroke legend! The Japan Open 2010 game was very much like this. Or perhaps LD is too lazy to smash these days!?!

I agree with you here. And c'mon ppl., LCW won thro' sheer GRIT and determination and ofcourse excellent skills). Lin Dan's refusal for shuttle change speaks much of itself. Certainly NOT the qualities of a TRUE GREAT SPORTSMAN.

Chong Wei is always a humble and gracious.... in victory as well as defeat..... HE THOROUGHLY DESERVES THIS MAGNIFICENT VICTORY.........

@zafishark no, the umpire refused, not lindan. Lindan and lcw are both very friendly already. However years ago, humble rocks (LCW). Now there is no more apparent egoism in LD. LD has also gone humble. That's why more people non-chinese have become supporting LD.
