@stroker383vega Hi i can tell you the size its a volvo 140 series and its the org: engine as i can see B20 so that vould make it a 2000cc if you are from us you have to calculate it over to your system cui? hope it helps::: regards from denmark
My 90 year old father saw cars in Paris just after the war in Europewas over running on wood chips. He remenbers tanks or cylenders or tanks on the roof or along the running boards.
Thumbs up! Great work. The Germans used this technology quite a bit to power vehicles (e.g. delivery trucks) domestically in the latter part of WWII. Every vehicle they powered this way saved liquid fuel for combat.
Vedbil, three questions: 1) Could most of that pipe have been channeled under the body rather than over it? 2) How hard would it be to build a small stationary wood gas plant, and liquefy the gas after it is generated? 3) Is the gas mostly composed of methane, or other compounds?
@NorkiddExo You are very wrong if the gasses are filteret well theres no problems here in denmark we had a truck that ran on woodgas from 1940 TO 1967 over 400.000km without any problems and that was on org engine and a very simple woodgas system it drove for a sawmill, so they just continued running on wood after the war. all the sawdust and woodchips =free fuel
You are the King! Great car. I want to build one. Where can I find the principals of operation. Create the wood gas and engine setup to burn wood gas. Is pellitized wood usable?
@bluemoondiadochi lol, I saw that like 2 minutes after i posted that comment, but if it was like a Lada or something equally horrid it would be the ultimate soviet shitcar.
hello, ive seen your other videos but did you make video on how to make a carb to use the wood gas? i just have a hard time thinking up a configuration. i plainly see that its possible but i would like to know more. GOOD JOB!
Oh, I believe you, no offense, but isn't there a way to make these look more attractive? I have seen one of these here in America, up north years ago. There's just so many pipes everywhere, and the main fuel source itself is boxy looking...must it be this big? I am thinking if this idea is to be viable for many others, should it at least be a little sleeker, more aerodynamic, perhaps? Thank you!
You seem to be under the impression I am not. On the contrary, everything I suggested is viable...we, as inventive humans, just need to figure out how to improve upon this design so that it is more visually acceptable to the masses for the idea to ever gain further implementation. Let's face it, we are brainwashed to only want to see beautiful design...I was thinking...why can't the pipes be inside the body of the vehicle? Why have we not already made this for the open market?
Further, there are so many regulations on crumple zones, liabilities for accidents where the resulting damage is worse due to a secondary explosion, etc. I could go on and on. The thank you at the end is for the post in the first place...perhaps you interpreted it as sarcastic; it was not. For an example of what I mean, look up the radio interview of Robert Patterson. Listen to the whole thing. Why must we direct airflow through a long hollow tube.....anyone's brains ticking on this one?
Sorry, it's already out there, online, for others who really understand what I was getting at...so keep your umbrella statements over your head so you don't get pissed on again.
PS for someone who actually favorites Teletubbie, Sesame Street, and an unusually large number of fail videos, and who is only 19 (19! See aforementioned videos), you might just be an authority on "Fail". lmao. Your mother is calling you.
I see also you have marked as favorites videos on people playing the didgeridoo, as do I. Awsome! I am not sure of the practicality but great to see that people still have an element of madness and crativety!! Long live Steampunk!!! I wish you all the best in further development of this porject.:)
I beg to differ....Nazi Germany powered entire fleets of vehicles, cars and truck by woodgas. This is not a new technology. It's been around for more than a century and is being improved upon everyday.
i really like the idea of using a gasifier to reform fuels. it allows a great deal of freedom, even liquid fuels can be used in a gasifier! practically any hydrocarbon can make syngas to burn in an engine.
the future is not "alternative energy", it's alternative FUEL! and the gasifier is, in my opinion, one of the [oldest, and still] most promising technologies available for this application.
What a way to go! Love what you have done. I was wondering to make this a day to day usable mode of transport could some of the wood gas be taken off and compressed? This compressed reserve could be used for starting the wood gas burner and having a true cold start enabling the wood burner to get up to temperature whilst you are driving.
Hello from America :D Nice car :) it looks like its from the MadMax movies with all the pipes and custom work done to it, and w00t! its a Volvo, we have them in America i like those cars, the old ones are the best, 240's 740's 940's etc. :) take care..
I think there's a chance we will build one. Have just the perfect old Chevy truck to do it and plenty of trees around here. I'd also like to run a generator for an 'off the grid' cabin.
i'm not quite sure what you mean by "still the contamination". gasifiers are technically "carbon neutral" because any exhaust put into the is consumed by the growth of plants that will be one day used for fuel.
besides, with a properly functioning gasifier, the exhaust is only CO2 and H2O! that's MUCH cleaner than gasoline.
it doesn't have to be run on wood. you can run a gasifier on practically any biomass (garbage, corn stalks [which are thrown away], wheat chaff [also thrown away], leftover breakfast, coffee grounds, walnut shells, etc. just to name a few). so no, the trees will not disappear, but if we play our cards right, the landfills very well could!
but the conbustion like my breakfast, walnuts are not the same.. well but maybe technology will inprove it, that thought it´s awesome I like the way you think make´s me feel like the movie ¨Back From The Future¨.
@L33TFooMaster Don't forget some feedstocks don't have the same efficiency, only because they don't behave phisically the same in the feeding hopper. Just an example, using coffee grounds makes your gasifier clog up.
Way, way cool Daddy! I'm living in the middle of a forest on the Atlantic side of Canada and I'd love to scoot about in that rig. When is Ikea going to add this to the catalog? Heck, that's where all my furniture came from, why not the auto too. Thanx guys, that was awesome.
yeah sweden really is good to the people.. here in denmark you, as in italy ^^, cant really run legally on anything else but fossile fuel. you can put vegi oil on you burner in the house but just because there is not a way to put tax on green fuel :) yet, they dont care about the earth, just there paycheck. pigs.. but really great all these things come out, even though it is tecnology from second world war.. its still fascinating.. great vid makes hope for all off us :) lol
Man! You Swedes sure like the wood-gas stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Volvo made a proto-type as their bid for alternative energy. Thanks for the video!
Think about that: here in Italy you could not do such a thing. We have a law, according to government, everything you use as fuel wich is not taxed by the government makes you outlaw.
Same thing in the US, but it is not enforced very much. Usually, the only ones who get caught are truck drivers using non-taxed heating fuel (it has a dye added) in their diesel trucks. The police in my area think it's cool when people run their diesels on vegetable oil. They see it as a law that need to be broken for progress to be made for the greater good.
Hey shut the fuck up, you don´t know anything about Sweden. Just because the US economy sucks big time and ours is on a big surplus doesn´t mean you can talk like that.
Wow! Swedes are all socialists? Well, you sure are well educated... The social democrats here have been painfully successful in fooling enough stupid people to vote for them as well, but the typical Swede is a pretty egocentrical individualist, and as of now we do have a non socialist government dominated by our conservative party.
The US runs the world right now but the whole world will be out of oil by 2070 and nations like the USA will implode because our illiterate kids are playing X-Box and exploring trisexuality while Swedish kids apparently recycle their grandparent's Volvo to run on scrap wood and will be able to live without oil!
agreed. btw it's called "try-sexuality"... they'll try anything.*shudder*
but when (not if) the US collapses, it will be those who are currently exercising their rights that will rebuild. those that know WHY we need the right to own a gun, those that would look to this kind of technology for alternative forms of locomotion and energy.
someday things will improve, but unfortunately for that to happen we as a country need a disaster to wake us up.
Thanks for posting these videos, this will give a lot of people incite to alternative fuels/energy. Really an inspiration to all of us trying to make a difference in the world.
Right now I am experimenting with HHO-Cells, wish me luck..
Regards, and best of luck in your future ventures..

bluemoondiadochi 1 year ago
sorry to bother you guys, but i'd like to ask a question, i just can't figure it out:
so:
gas is produced in the gas producer, then goes to the cyclone, and to the filter, and then to the cooler. this means you have hot gas in your filter.
i'm asking because, in Imbert blueprints, the gas goes first to the cyclone, then the gas cooler, and THEN, when gas is cold, to the filter!
so, how come you didn't have problems with your filter?
bluemoondiadochi 1 year ago
Engine won't last long haha, pre detenation and the gum from the fumes wearing out the piston bore.
