"I hate Mao Tze Tung, he's a crock of dung"--never heard that version before. I'm more familiar with "I hate Cho En Lai, and I hope he dies". Is there a version where Phil sang the Mao lyric? I wonder if there's a back story about the lyric switch.
@pjcdrummer Don't know...but as I replied to sregdoor, I taped the entire concert in a format I can, unfortunately, no longer play! (...unless you know someone with a functioning V-Cord II player)
@pjcdrummer No such luck...been looking everywhere for over five years, and only one V-cord II has appeared (on e-bay) Before I could get the money together, it was de-listed...but I keep looking
@pjcdrummer The Sanyo V-Cord II is slightly larger than the original Betamax: appx 2' wide, 1 1/2' deep and 6" high. It is a top-load with a pop-up gate. (The cassettes - max 2-hrs - are appx the same size/shape as an 8-track tape - I have 172 of them!) The recorder/player has two speeds on a toggle switch, which can be changed while it is playing/recording. You can also press the record button while playing. The timer was a remote unit, and the channel selectors, knobs.
@sregdoor It IS good to see them sitting there...the only problem with that is that Harry Chapin and Steve Goodman did not appear at the Phil Ochs Memorial Concert - I know, I taped it. (Unfortunately on the old Sanyo V-Cord II format, and my player no longer works.) The recording you are listening to is Pete Seeger and Fred Hellerman (of The Weavers). I have no idea why this photo was posted with this soundtrack.
@Mickagume Because, there are no pictures of the tribute concert that I could find, why do some people always have to criticise and moan. It's better than just having the audio and a blank screen.
@IrishandFolkmusic Sorry...I wasn't criticizing OR moaning... just curious. For all I knew, you didn't know. I was not aware the concert existed anywhere except on video (PBS). Or, that the audio was available by itself. Your post makes sense now.
@Mickagume No worries. It's just when you look through comments posted on your videos a lot of people are just moaning about something or other, I think I have the whole concert stored away somewhere.
The picture is still wonderful - so much talent in one shot. Too bad they are mostly gone.

Good posting. Sad to see Harry Chapin and Steve Goodman sitting there. Who would have thought Pete Seeger would outlive them both. Thanks again.

@IrishandFolkmusic The whole concert? Great! You should find it and post it all...(it was a Who's Who of people from that era.)
