Not a big fan but being close to the border I understand the need. They have customs check points in the Atlanta airport and many other that are not on the border? So if they are only at the border how far from the border are they allowed to operate. Do they have to stay within 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile? There is huge illegal smuggling problems 75 miles from the border and just south of Phoniex. Are they just suppose to ignore it? Can they only be on the shoreline?
Customs checkpoints in airports can only be legally utilized for individuals coming in from non-stop flights originating from outside the United States making the checkpoints the functional equivalent of the border gz22ll. Border checkpoints & their functional equivalents are different from the checkpoints depicted in my videos & agents at them have far more enforcement authority then they do inside the country. Here they require consent or probable cause to extend a detention or to search.

The ICE agents where convienced that I had dope in the car because I happen to be a fan of ICP & have an ICP logo on my window!

I think most people would be happy to see the Police out there actively doing something to try and make it a better place. Or is it a mistrust issue with the government in general? For starters the exterior of ones vehicle is not an area where a reasonable expectation of privacy exists, so the dog sniffing the vehicle is not illegal or vilating any perceived rights that you think may exist. Secondly, it is a no suspicion checkpoint. You said it yourself, therefore the dog does not need any suspicion. Nothing more is necessary then your presence for the dog to do its job at a check point
If you were a little better informed elipse172002, you would realize SCOTUS has only upheld the legality of permanent immigration checkpoints near nexus points for border traffic for the sole purpose of brief immigration queries.
The court has never upheld the legality of temporary suspicionless checkpoints along secondary roads dominated by domestic traffic for the purposes of looking for felons, weapons, terrorists, illegal narcotics & illegal aliens.
Additionally, the only SCOTUS cases dealing with drug dogs sniffs were based upon traffic stops where officers had probable cause to initiate the stop. The court has never upheld the use of drug sniffing dogs at suspicionless checkpoints.
Additionally, Agent LeBlanc converted this encounter into a full blown search when he directed his dog onto the back of my vehicle instead of merely allowing it to sniff the exterior.

Half my family is in Arizona, border patrol inside America is a ridiculous concept, considering border patrol is only to be applied at our border. And the Constitution is supposed to apply everywhere our borders extend to.. this makes me sick.
I use a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Even after compression and several file conversions, the video quality is usually pretty good. Additionally, the camera allows the operator to take stills while shooting video & has good optical zoom capabilities.

Not a big fan but being close to the border I understand the need. They have customs check points in the Atlanta airport and many other that are not on the border? So if they are only at the border how far from the border are they allowed to operate. Do they have to stay within 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile? There is huge illegal smuggling problems 75 miles from the border and just south of Phoniex. Are they just suppose to ignore it? Can they only be on the shoreline?

Customs checkpoints in airports can only be legally utilized for individuals coming in from non-stop flights originating from outside the United States making the checkpoints the functional equivalent of the border gz22ll. Border checkpoints & their functional equivalents are different from the checkpoints depicted in my videos & agents at them have far more enforcement authority then they do inside the country. Here they require consent or probable cause to extend a detention or to search.

I tell you I wish I had video equipment in my vehicle last month; I live n Detroit MI right by the US/CANADA border & drove to Canada for a concert. On my way back home; at the US check point, I was asked where the drugs where & ordered to park & exit my car, both me & my car where searched; invluding a K9. The ICE agents where convienced that I had dope in the car because I happen to be a fan of ICP & have an ICP logo on my window!

Look, What you're doing is really ignorant. The reason why you have to stop is to be asked if you're a citizen or not. Because the U.S does not want illegal immigrants to be in the U.S.
I simply don't find why you're questioning the agents "Am I being detained?". You've only been stopped to be asked if you are a U.S citizen. If you say no then you get sent back. Easy as that. And you're free to go after you have answered their one and only simple yes or no question.

The creator of this film is a remarkable idiot. For starters the exterior of ones vehicle is not an area where a reasonable expectation of privacy exists, so the dog sniffing the vehicle is not illegal or vilating any perceived rights that you think may exist. Secondly, it is a no suspicion checkpoint. You said it yourself, therefore the dog does not need any suspicion. Nothing more is necessary then your presence for the dog to do its job at a check point

If you were a little better informed elipse172002, you would realize SCOTUS has only upheld the legality of permanent immigration checkpoints near nexus points for border traffic for the sole purpose of brief immigration queries.
The court has never upheld the legality of temporary suspicionless checkpoints along secondary roads dominated by domestic traffic for the purposes of looking for felons, weapons, terrorists, illegal narcotics & illegal aliens.

Additionally, the only SCOTUS cases dealing with drug dogs sniffs were based upon traffic stops where officers had probable cause to initiate the stop. The court has never upheld the use of drug sniffing dogs at suspicionless checkpoints.
Additionally, Agent LeBlanc converted this encounter into a full blown search when he directed his dog onto the back of my vehicle instead of merely allowing it to sniff the exterior.

I use a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Even after compression and several file conversions, the video quality is usually pretty good. Additionally, the camera allows the operator to take stills while shooting video & has good optical zoom capabilities.
