If these companies believe in Environmental stewardship then they should take the initiative and clean up their mess before they destroy the North. The Suncor plant smells the worst out of all of them. Syncrude has a bit of odor but not as bad as the Suncor plant. These companies are sensitive to the environment but we have to guide them and support them to do what is right and fix the problems at hand.

I have been up there and work up there as well. The worst out of the plants seems to be Suncor - they are right along the Athabasca River and they have tailings ponds that are close to the river. They have a problem with pollutants leaching into the Athabasca but they don't seem to want to repair the pond. I say rip it out - reline it several times to ensure that nothing leaches into the river and fix all the leaks in the Storage tanks.
