i use a led lenser for now but looking for something brighter cheaper if its possable
mine costs $50 to give an example, i know mines not the best and they make a $70 version of this light also, i had another light called a lightstar 220, i liked it but this light i got now has more punch, also have a duracell but it runs 2 3v batteries adn batteries costed more than the flashlight, i guess i got the sickness also =)
@tacomabanga1986 Led Lenser is not up to the level of Fenix, 4Sevens or Thrunite. All of these companies will offer lights in about the same price as led lenser but with more efficient LED's and regulated circuits. What ever you do though, don't go to CandlePowerForums, or the Sickness will become malignant.
Go to Dealextreme, order sku: 30987 If the R2 isn't bright enough for you find an XML on a 14mm board, and replace the R2 board with the XML board.
I would Direct drive this setup on protected 14500's but 14500's are not a very good power plant for the XML, the S2, R2, or R5 would probably be best with a 14500 battery.
Stay far away from Surefires, they are built like corvettes with 4 banger engines. They want $500 for 800L when the XML@4A beats that for $15.
Keeping up with the latest led emitters is pointless after a while from a user standpoint. LOL My Fenix Q5 LD20 is so "outdated" now lol... funny it still works just fine though x)
The xm-l emitters are pretty crazy though. I am really wanting to get the TK41 at some point.
@OfficerSheepDog Yeah I'm the same on CPF, I hope Greta can piece it back to gether. I would be excited too, looks like a cool light, really innovative rotating tail selector. If you go to the cpfmarketplace there is a good thread on it called "ThruNite first Tactical flashlights coming"
Both seem to be very nice lights. I do have a soft spot for 4 sevens though. How do you find the comparison between the throws on both lights, and the clarity of each throw outside? And also the spill? do they both have a fairly uniform and clear spill and focal point? and if one or the other has more artificats or not? Thanks for the quick review on some great lights, especially considering they use AA batteries
@jeffjuice3886 I'll make a video review of the Thrunite so you can make a judgement. Personally I like the thicker body and stainless steal bezel of the Neutron. Both are great lights with excellent beam patterns.

@martinaee XRE Q5 and R2 are great led's and I still use them. I just have the sickness, only cure is to continuously buy/build lights.

@hugo2x yup.... I've got the sickness too... I need more fundz though lol.

@martinaee actually the Q5 is a particularly good thrower for the lumens.
apparently due to the more focused beam it actually out throws the R5 version.

Hey are you the same Hugo2x on CPF?
Had a question, since you have your hands on new thrunite lights.
Whats your general take on the Thrunite Scorpion?
I bought it anyways, (Shipping soon) but since CPF is down , i need to talk about it with someone! =D
