I am almost certain that my cough is like that, it fits some the of the diagnosis. Mine is triggered by a ticklish tingle in the throat and usually if I'm laughing. I've had id for 6+ months now and it won't go away...Sometimes its really hurting my chest and I have trouble catching my breath for a couple of seconds. Is it really untreatable, because I feel like it's become more persistent ?
Dr. Bastian, I believe that my cough may fall into this category, it started in 1992 and has persisted until the present. I am currently living in Brussels Belgium. Do you know of any Doctors in Belgium or France that treat this disorder?
I just want to thank you for providing this information. This has been going on for me for just over two years and I thought I was losing my mind. Unfortunately, sudden, sharp coughing also triggers migraines for me, which I also have chronically. It's not a good combination.
I just got diagnosed with this and got prescribed elavil. Horrible. Heart raced had to be rushed to ER. Only on 10 mg. Doc is going to try something next week. Does this ever get better or will I have to take medication for the rest of my life? I am on a liquid diet and would love to have more kids in the future. This has been a horrible thing to deal with as solid foods really trigger it for me.
@DbaBro1 same here. it's been a while after i found some smoke after my cough started up again but it stopped after i smoked up again. Good thing it's the only cough medicine I enjoy taking haha.

It went away after I started smoking marijuana. I'd like to do that kind of study haha.
