  • Grow up for God's sake, stupid children. You are going to have such a rude awakening when you finish school. Know wonder you have to live with your mommy's till you are 30yrs old these days...

  • What a bloody waste of public money, police and security being paid to stop students handing food over. They couldn't even do that legallly so what was the point, they should be on our streets after dark where the real problems of crime are. The police should be protecting us not Cameron and liar Cleggs' ill-thought policies. Thatcher used the police as goons against the people too.

This proves the Tories haven't changed a bit, inspite of , power hungry, Cameron's pre-election promises.

  • superb, i love the food drops, the security couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery

  • An inconvenient truth:

    1) The University is framing the event as if it was simply an occupation. In fact, occupiers have secured squatter’s right to reside in the building on the 22nd November where both the University and the police were officially informed about the situation. Hence, the University was breaking the law and the police connived with the situation.

  • 2) The University was not concerned with safety following the restriction to drinking water and food imposed during the first hours. In addition, security staff have harassed and assaulted students. Moreover, psychological harassment was widely used over night.

  • 3) Social media was initially used to request people to join them in the house because occupiers had squatting rights, which allow people to come and go. Later on, social media was used to attract people to protect those who were inside the house following all the verbal, physical and psychological abuse from the university security so not necessarily to get into the house

  • In fact, although an overwhelming number of students intended to join the occupiers, the later insisted that students shouldn’t join them. This decision was mainly based on concerns regarding the wellbeing of students following the violence used against one of the individuals who tried to get into the house earlier on that day.

  • 4) It has been said that Mr Stuart Richards was at the property until approximately 3am, which confirms that he is fully aware/ responsible for all the abuse taking place at the North Gate House throughout the night.

    5) It is important to clarify here that Carolyn Pike refused to speak to the occupier’s lawyers when approached.

    6) The University claim that 50 people have attended the area at times is outrageous.

  • 7) University states that occupier refused to leave the premises. In fact, occupiers did not “refuse to leave” because they had the right to be in the house under the “Right to Squat” claimed by them.

    8) None of the security guards have been assaulted, but pushed after preventing students to gain access to the house. The only assault, which is now widely known, took place against one student. There were witnesses both in and out the building who provided testimonials explaining the event.

  • 9) The security costs of £2,000 are not necessary as they are dealing with students and not criminals. Students do not pose a threat to the University, but just for some of those who rule this institution. Hence, the security guards were protecting the interests of these rulers and not the University as a whole.

    10) The allegation by the University that the Guild of Students does not support the Occupation is false and has no proofs to be deemed as factual.

  • 11) The University argues that the property was inhabited by an academic. In fact it was inhabited by a family.

    12) Similar legal procedures are dealt within 5 days. How on Earth could this legal process be reduced to a few hours, and in what grounds? How could the judge take such action without taking into consideration the defender’s facts?

  • 13) Indeed, how can the University seek possession order in respect of the campus as a whole if this legal process concerned only the North Gate House? Does it mean that from Wednesday onwards any occupations one campus would be deemed as illegal. What sort of democracy do we live in? It just seems like those futuristic Steven Spielberg films where “””crimes””” are discovered and punished before taking place...

  • 14) Richard’s concerns about how to approach the student’s parents in the case of some sort of eventuality is infuriating and disgraceful. The marks on the windows that he claims to have been done by students were probably produced from his henchmen. Moreover, the argument about appliances being used in the house without any fire certificate is ridiculous... Are all the laptops that get into library/ lecture rooms certified?

  • 15) Richard is a liar in arguing that the University was facing a substantial material cost to “bring this matter to a peaceful conclusion” based on the violence against students performed by him and his henchmen.

    16) The whole thing about “protesting” and “disruption” just reinforces the rationale amongst law enforcers that if protest can be suppressed, it will.

  • 17) The University of Birmingham criminalises student peaceful demonstrations through the use of brutal and violent force and psychological terror though letters threatening students and also though war-type psychological terror when security guards pretended that they would break into the house every 15 minutes from 11pm until 6am... This was the second time in two years that security guards assault students.

  • Love Hattie's interview

  • People get up. Stomp your feet. Let's get down!

  • The actions of the University management and security were ridiculous, security physically assaulted students and spent a ridicuolous amount of money (that must have gone into tens of thousands) to try to get an immediate injunction to get the occupiers out whilst they were doing no harm. Makes me ashamed to be a student here.

  • So proud of all the university of Birmingham students but, massively ashamed of our University. They agree that occupation was non disruptive but yet they came down so hard on it, spending what must have been tens of thousands of pounds on a special high court injunction. Why I guess because the are scared of us standing up for education.

  • Solidarity from Birmingham Against The Cuts. Keep going, the University of Birmingham stands alone in its treatment of peaceful protest - compare to Warwick or Cambridge Universities whose management have allowed free access to their occupations and are facilitating the peaceful protest, rather than spending many thousands of pounds on legal actions, and seeking to supress free speech and critical voices on campus

  • Brilliant escape, security were so confused lol.
