You want to just hold them in the water while trying to revive them but don't pull them back and forth. By doing that, you're forcing water through their gills backwards causing more harm than good.
@tmkskilled Muskies are to be released not eaten. If you want fish to eat then go catch some walleyes. Besides, Rowan lake has a 54" minimum size limit.
nice catch i just got my second bass on the banjo minnow few days ago and didnt get a chance to twitch the bait yet lol i let it take it abit then i set the hook
i was usingthe blue back clear minnow with a spike it red tail
your better off just going to the banjo minnow site and getting them there banjominnowcom Ive been using the 4" 5" minnows for a few years. my buddy laughed at me when we went out our first time he saw it tied on asked what it was does it work. first cast I landed a 3.5lb lg mouth my third cast i landed a 3lb and my 4th cast another 3lb lrg mouth within 15mins he was like gimme one on his 3rd or 4th cast he landed a small 2lb. he went and bought some yesterday
@123dukesfan Thanks! Yes, it works great for bass, especially around weedbeds! Northerns will also engulf them. I haven't had any luck with them on catfish though. Let me know if you catch any.
@namtkd1 I dont believe it works for catfish that well because catfish are like smelling hunters with there whiskers. Thats why they make stink baits especially for catfish.
Nice fish. I loved the banjo minnow, I always hooked em wacky style and jerked em fast. It was killer on pike. I haven't seen these anywhere since I was using them when I was ten, fourteen years later I have been looking for them. Someone said bass proshops by there isn't one up here.
@airsoftman4310 no i was fishing up in park rapids minnesota area when that happened. i mostly fish in ely minnesota but the big musky was in park rapids.
Thats a great fish...BUT...The Banjo Minnow isn't what the commercials make it out to be. I spent 40.00 US on the set and it works about as good as the typical jig. I'm not a rookie fisherman and I know how to use the bait so please don't misinterperate what I'm saying. I just mean don't get your hopes up about it ok?
Haha I know. It was one of my biggest muskies! I just watched one of your favorites "the hog under the feeder" video. I had a good laugh after the boot!
if you fish for pike also try the booyah pond magic bass spinnerbait and a zoom c tail worm as a trailer which matches the patern. it rocks on northen
The banjo 006 minnow does work i put it on my hook and i just casted it out and about 25 sec went by and a BIG! bass was on my hook i cought of the dock.
i was fishing off the dock of lake erie in ontario
@kratoes911 yes they really work i was night fishing the other night and yesterday and fish were attacking my banjo minnows. Its so life like even a fucking neutra rat made off with my banjo minnow.
@kratoes911 I would definitely recommend a banjo minnow kit. I have had nothing but good luck and great things to say about it. Caught me the biggest bass of my life, even though it was only 11 pounds.
@namtkd1 indeed :-) we and others snowmobile there in the morning from the resorts on crow, last year my dad caught and released a 45 incher that bottomed out a 40Lb scale!!! it was like 10 inches deep in the gut! it was incredible. got a replica made.
the irony about pike, pickerel and muskies is that they are super badass in the water but when you catch one you hafta nurse it back to life...bass just swim off an continue their day...it makes sense though...they weren't made for being pulled out of the water...
Nice ski. The pulling it backwards will hurt the fish. Just keep it uprite until she can swim away is the best method. Never pull it backwards. Face the fish into the current or waves. Never let the fish drag backwards. Believe me on this or do some research and then teach others the correct way to release fish.
banjo minnow is a lure designed to catch fisherman
sorry for being so honest, dont get me wrong, it WORKS, ive caught fish with it before, But it just as good as using a Zoom fluke style bait, or a Slugo, it's the action of the bait that makes fiserman believe its better than any other lure, truth is, you get the same action using a fluke, with a EWG 3-4" gap hook, rigged weedless, no weight in fact i think the fluke has a better "darting" action, and triggers in-active fish more into a strike
yea i no i i have a few leaders in my box just incase i go 2 a place with pike or musky not many pplace around here have nice pike or musky i did catch a small pickerel on a artificial worm while bass fishin lol
I am sure you would catch fish in Australia if you used the Banjo under the right conditions and location. All big fish eat smaller fish. The wounded imitation of the Banjo is a trigger and an easy target for them.
True, Fish dont swim Backwards (For a resone) When you PULL a fish backwards it opens up the gills and forces water in the wrong way causing the fish to Suffocate or "Drown". Ive been fishing for about 18+ years and never heard of that also untill about a year ago and did some research. Just because you never heard that in 16 years of fishing doesnt mean a person knows everything about fishing... We all learn new things everyday. -God Bless-
Thats completely incorrect, drowning a fish is paradoxical, it doesn't happen. You are supposed to do that after a fish has been out of the water for a while, you need to get some water back into its gills to recover valuable lost oxygen. Not to mention all the pros do it, Roland, Bill Dance, etc. Do you mean to say that they are all doing it wrong? Everyone disregard what this moron said.
Well Theres no reason being rude... I never said it was bad to "Swim" a fish after somthing like that, (I do it all the time) Im saying when you pull the A fish Backward you have to be GENTLE... If you watch the "Pros" you will notice that they are gental (Especialy backwards) also if you "Tailwrap" a fish or hook its tail you are pulling it backwards (that is most ocean sports Fishermens knightmares because its hard to revive a fish after somthing that. Do the research before condemning somone
You are a fucking idiot. That comment is completely invalid and in no way helps you to win this argument. The gills of pike and muskie behave the same was as largemouth bass, and I guarantee you Roland and Bill have both been fishing for pike and muskie many times before.
I was sold the first time I saw the Banjo Minnow in action. In my opinion, the crippled action it imitates of an injured minnow is as close to the real thing.
@ChicoSuave14 the banjo minnow phone number is 1-800-950-7993, Their offical website is called "banjominnow.tv" no .C0M or anything just .tv and u can figure out the rest from there.
My buddy pulled a 57 inch out of the Susquehanna River and actually pulled on to the boat that he said made the 57 incher look like a minnow and he's not one for telling stories. Those fish can get big.
yea cuz i went to a lake full of fish but i wasnt sure wat kind it was and we tried evry bait worms,stinkbaits,lures..i didnt have the banjo minnow at the time..but my guess was that it was carp since they are picky.
Use corn for carp. Thread 7-8 kernels and a small piece of styrofoam on a long shank hook and fish it on bottom with a sinker. Toss some corn in the area to attract them to your bait.
Depending on the fishing conditions I am faced with on any given day, if it's calm, sunny, and I am fishing around weedbeds, I would give it a 10! It's my go-to lure and the first lure I toss to the fish.
Thanks for the tip! I will have to give your rigging a try this season. Almost sounds like the wacky rigging method. I just rig my Banjo the standard way.
nice fish im prolly gona get some banjo minnows but 1 thing i learned in fishing camp dont revive it by goin back and forth u can drovn it cause water gets in gills but nice fish
It depends on the conditions and timing. The Banjo Minnow catches lots of fish but like every other lure it has it's time and place. I would definitely carry some Banjo's along with a few spinners and spoons for the pike.
ya it doesnt work good when the fish are deep because it is really light which gives it the action so fishing on the shore line is good with the banjo minnow and when the water is really clear so the fish can see it i went fishing at some stocked ponds with clean water and was only there two hours and caught 14 largemouth with just 2 different colors ranging from 2lbs to5lbs
I used a medium heavy action spinning rod with the 5" Banjo Minnow to land this muskie. The rod action was perfect for twitching the larger minnow through the reeds. When I switch to a 3" or 4" minnow I drop to a medium action rod.
It works! There is no magic lure out there and the Banjo Minnow isn't magic, however, there is a time and place for when it will out fish other lures.
wow very nice fish i have been fishing the banjo at every pond, lake and anything else for at least a month now and i havent gotten any fish on it nice work on your muskie
Thanks for your comment! I find the Banjo most productive when worked over shallow weedy flats inside of bays during spring and early summer. Although I caught this fish mid-afternoon most of my fish were caught early morning and late evening.
I used it way back an i can say i had to put my rod down for like 30 min because i keep catching so many fish. It was crazy out of 4 cast i would catch 2 or 3 fish. I never in my life hooked so many fish, it was something out of a movie or something. It's been years since i had them but now with doing anything costing to much money Im going back to fishing..and i just bought some new B.J.M. from the site..can't wait to use them and see if they still work just like back in the day, nice fish man.
Thanks bud! You'll have to let me know how the new Banjo Minnow works. I am still using the old one and it still catches fish for me. I like that they have small slits along the body in the new design and I am sure that will help create more realistic movement. Keep me posted.
Thanks for your comment! I recommend getting them if you have some spare change. They're worth it in my opinion. I have caught fish with them at times when nothing seemed to work.
You want to just hold them in the water while trying to revive them but don't pull them back and forth. By doing that, you're forcing water through their gills backwards causing more harm than good.

cydoniashero 2 years ago
Depending on the fishing conditions I am faced with on any given day, if it's calm, sunny, and I am fishing around weedbeds, I would give it a 10! It's my go-to lure and the first lure I toss to the fish.

whats the most productive rigging you use for your banjos? hooking them in the belly and letting it dead fall is how i catch most of mine.
mhsbaseballhero 2 years ago
Thanks for the tip! I will have to give your rigging a try this season. Almost sounds like the wacky rigging method. I just rig my Banjo the standard way.

Nice muskie! So would you recommend the banjo minnow?
wolvesown676 2 years ago
I'd definitely recommend them. Great action and realistic movements!

I can't wait to try my Banjo 006 minnows out this weekend going bass fishing and maybe trout too.
DaveTheSamurai 2 years ago
I think you will like it. I like how it moves in the water. Definitely a fish catcher! Good Luck!

Thanks bud for the comment! I hope to be back there sometime next year to catch the fish again if it's still there.

Congrats dude, nice fish, you sound like you just got laid. I'd rather catch a big muskie like that than have sexy time.

there is a river next to my house and pike always swim up to the shore but never bite on anything, do you think the banjo minnow will work for them.
gdizzlesfc 2 years ago
It depends on the conditions and timing. The Banjo Minnow catches lots of fish but like every other lure it has it's time and place. I would definitely carry some Banjo's along with a few spinners and spoons for the pike.

thx

gee golly now-ah doncha know!! thatsa big fish now-ah!!!!
fatony26 2 years ago
did you revive it
friecook92hughe 3 years ago
Yes, the fish swam away on her own shortly after.

this lure is sooo light you can't cast it very far from your boat or from the shore line. That's the real problem with the banjo minnow.
ninjaman58 3 years ago
is that napolean dynamite talking lol
jjwd1387 3 years ago 7
not napolean more like kip. hahha
pornostar115 3 years ago 2
@jjwd1387 lmao i thought the same damn thing
matt31602 1 year ago
ya it doesnt work good when the fish are deep because it is really light which gives it the action so fishing on the shore line is good with the banjo minnow and when the water is really clear so the fish can see it i went fishing at some stocked ponds with clean water and was only there two hours and caught 14 largemouth with just 2 different colors ranging from 2lbs to5lbs
cas094 3 years ago
i heard that you have to use a light spinning rod when you fish the banjo minnow, but what kind of rod do you use when you go after bigger fish?
JHuggins2010 3 years ago
I used a medium heavy action spinning rod with the 5" Banjo Minnow to land this muskie. The rod action was perfect for twitching the larger minnow through the reeds. When I switch to a 3" or 4" minnow I drop to a medium action rod.

does the banjo minnow really work?
baarr0w 3 years ago
It works! There is no magic lure out there and the Banjo Minnow isn't magic, however, there is a time and place for when it will out fish other lures.
namtkd1 3 years ago
i used the banjo minnow when i went catfish fishing at my lake but all i caught were shity bluegill and one small yellow bullhead
Korndude4561 3 years ago
that is because you dont use a banjo minnow for catfish.try some liver for catfish
mglasgow61 3 years ago 2
use liver or sucker insides or cut for catfish

wow very nice fish i have been fishing the banjo at every pond, lake and anything else for at least a month now and i havent gotten any fish on it nice work on your muskie
muskieman451 3 years ago
Thanks for your comment! I find the Banjo most productive when worked over shallow weedy flats inside of bays during spring and early summer. Although I caught this fish mid-afternoon most of my fish were caught early morning and late evening.
namtkd1 3 years ago
I used it way back an i can say i had to put my rod down for like 30 min because i keep catching so many fish. It was crazy out of 4 cast i would catch 2 or 3 fish. I never in my life hooked so many fish, it was something out of a movie or something. It's been years since i had them but now with doing anything costing to much money Im going back to fishing..and i just bought some new B.J.M. from the site..can't wait to use them and see if they still work just like back in the day, nice fish man.
howlbigbadwolf 3 years ago
Thanks bud! You'll have to let me know how the new Banjo Minnow works. I am still using the old one and it still catches fish for me. I like that they have small slits along the body in the new design and I am sure that will help create more realistic movement. Keep me posted.
namtkd1 3 years ago
I realy havent had much luck with lures i have been useing one and only caught 1 fishing and had it like for a year lol.

Thanks for your comment! I recommend getting them if you have some spare change. They're worth it in my opinion. I have caught fish with them at times when nothing seemed to work.
