  • This cartoon was on the very first episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, when King of Cartoons says "Let the Cartoon... Begin." Nothing beats them real classic cartoons from the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Ones that Pee-Wee Herman/Paul Reubens grew up with.

  • Credit title is wrong. It is from "Little Lamby".

  • Great vidio

  • Great vidio

  • That Jack Mercer (Voice of Popeye) gets around. He did this and "The Cobweb Hotel (1936) "

  • i have another version of this

  • Thank you So much for uploading this cartoon!

  • Magic! I have been wanting to see this cartoon ever since I saw it a long time ago as a kid & then in the 80's I saw parts of it on Pee-Wee's Playhouse! Didn't think i would ever find this again, Many Thanks!

  • -]. Fried see, YA FRIED!!!!! legend .[-

  • thank you!!!

    Awesome production as always.

  • ooh ive seen this before! idk when and where...but ive seen it

  • The villain in this disturbed me greatly as a kid, because you didn't know what the hell it WAS. Kind of looked like some sort of insect, or a little like the monster from THE CREEPING TERROR. Only thing worse was the spider from THE COBWEB HOTEL!

  • OMG i cant find the cartoon with the little dwarfs the save the kids from the witch in the gingerbread house one ive been looking for hours i know its on youtube but where

  • @4wonderland I know what it is,

babes in the woods (1932) Walt disney's silly symphony cartoon.

  • i remember this was the creepiest show i ever saw as a child..

  • I like the older cartoons bettter. They don't need a series. You can make them about anything at all and are darn funny!

  • I was going nuts trying to find this!! Thank you for posting it!

  • This takes me back

  • i remember I was so scared when I saw this when I was little. But now I simply love it.

  • This plus "The Kids In The Shoe" were favourites of mine when I was younger.

  • Damn I love this cartoon! I remember seeing it on this old videotape I used to have but than it was sold at a garage sale.

Now that im older, I see what the cartoon actually portrays; stereotypical drunken irish cops, police brutality, people being "pickled" (drunk).

This cartoon was really really deep and dark now that I think about it...

But anyways, it will and always be a classic. In my opinion, cartoons should still be this way.

  • I saw a very weird B&W 'edited' version of this last night at a film festival, I videotaped it off the screen. What DVD is this on???

  • I know it appears in the first episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse but it's most likely the abridged version.

  • oh my babies my babies aaaah ahhhh ahhhh

    lmao

  • omg...masterpiece

  • Even in the 30's, people were concerned about police incompetence and brutality.

  • When he sees th note It looks like he's humping the bed! xD

  • I loved watching these cartoons when I was kid... x}}}

  • THANK-YOU SSSOOOOOOOOOOOO Much for uploading this!!! I haven't see this in a very long time and it was starting to drive me CRAZY trying to find this! THANK-YOU!!!!

  • I very much liked it when I was 5, and since then I've been trying to find at least the title of this short cartoon :)

Many many thanks for uploading it, it gave back a moment from my childhood :)

  • he also makes fun of the characters features like here the onion bad breath and other things, mostly animals feature like an elephant memory,a dirty pig

  • thats what I like about fleischer, unlike disney, fleischer dont want to do realistic cartoons like disney, evrything in fleischer cartoons are mostly either animals talking singing and when its human persons theenvironnment is alive,.the bst example is popeye.sometime he breaks the fourth wall asking something to the audience or when he eat spinach, this is when the absurb come.this is what cartoons are for, imagination not realistic persons,

  • I've always loved this cartoon, its just so odd lol

  • Those Irish potato cops are pretty violent. It says a lot about the times...

  • hahah i been looking everywhere for this, i just remembered it as the cartoon where the lemon got squeezed by the rats under sheets. haha classic! i remember watchin this with cartoons like "porky pig - notes to you" "buggs bunny - falling hare" on a 6 hour tape i had... Also had the donkey who wouldnt eat his food that was bugged by a horsefly "YOU CANT KILLL A HORSEFLYYY| hahah. and the boy who defended the plaque from the baddies and the teeth got all messed up till he blew his whistle loll

  • This cartoon is one of many featured on "Pee-wee's Playhouse".

  • The First Episode.

  • Yep, that episode is called "Ice Cream Soup", and the secret word there is DOOR.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • This was one of the few cartoons that do not plastered the NTA and UM&M TV logos. It does have the 1938-43 Paramount logo just like they used in all of the 17 Superman cartoons from 1941-43.

  • actually, it's a recreation.

  • Ahhh!!! I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! I used to watch it at my grandmas...and I've been looking for it everywhere...but I didn't know what it was called...I just called it that vegetable one with the baby peas...lol

  • OMG. I've been looking for this video for SOOO long! Thank you!

  • I had this on a video with other cartoons like it. A fish one("Small Fry" I think), an old woman who lives in a shoe one, An anterater one, a greedy humpty dumpty one. Does anyone know where I could find the these?

  • That is the same video I had!!! It was sold at a garage sale though, I wonder what its called?

  • Sure 'n Begora! As a potato of Irish decent, I find the stereotype in this cartoon very offensive. ;p

  • There seems to be a little too much color in this print: I have a print of it on a DVD.

  • Is the DVD "Cartoon Crazies: Banned and Censored"?

  • Boy, Eduardo of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends likes Potatoes, and his creator, Nina Valerosa, is a police officer. Guess that's what inspired Craig McCracken to make Nina's character, to be the police officer/creator of a potato-loving Minotaur.

  • Oh thank you tweedlebop. I haven't seen this since it was featured on the old "Matinee at the Bijou" series on PBS about 20 years ago. Had taped it on my VCR and accidently over-recorded on it. Thrilled to see it again!!!

  • That was a horrible ending. Unhappy climaxes and endings seem typical of 1939 Fleischer Color Classics

  • wow thankyou so much for putting this up, I have been looking everywhere for this for years!

  • Incredible!

It almost seems like this is as surreal

as some of the earlier 1930s Fleischer cartoons, I had no idea their cartoons stil had this level of surrealism in them in 1939.
