I notice everyone who's been hating on Brink are COD fanboys and people who support it are TF2 or Enemy Territory/Quake Wars veterans, that says a lot about the play style of the game. I've gotta get this.
Generally the lag is not quite as bad now, though I prefer to play co-op with some friends, so there is very little lag.
This game is very different to COD and other shooters, closer to TF2 and so it does seem like you wouldn't enjoy it anyway. Doesn't quite seem like your cup of tea.
@The789adaptor No, not really, firstly the Artificial Intelligence ( AI ), are very unintelligent and often won't help you kill nearby enemies, revive you nor escort you when you are attempting to complete a Primary Objective, that said Online there are several people who slide a an excuse to evade being shot at which is rather annoying if you fall victim to it, that said when you are incapacitated it is horrible since the enemy can melee you to death which from your perspective looks like you
@The789adaptor Are being T - Bagged which is very annoying and dishonorable of the opponents and it is also annoying when you are frequently being shot at while incapacitated until you are dead, which is even more annoying since Brink motivates you to do it by giving you 20 Extra Points if you do so, also the majority of Objectives ( mainly Hacking ) are depressing and are a total buzzkill if you are doing really well during a match to the point where you progress is slowed down too much at once

Why is there a problem with the matches being long? Surely a longer match will give a better gaming experience. The only difference in timing is that each primary objective completed adds more time. Why does kill/death ration matter? The game isn't singularly competitive, so don't treat it that way. Having the whole map in the palm of your hand demotes player independence. The smart system requires practice on the player's part. The whole argument about Brink is about personal taste.
Brink is a good game in is own way but unfortunately alot of people compare every FPS to COD it's time they grow up and see the good sides of other FPS
like KZ3, Crysis 2 and BBC2 and new FPS's like Brink

the reason why you SHOULDNT listen to him about waiting to buy the game is because of maintenence. WoW was so successful because the monthly payments allowed Blizzard to regularly update the game and make it better. I think this guy needs to give brink a break: its a new direction for first-person shooters. i find it a refreshing break from CoD.

The controls are fucking horrendous. There's no campaign, and only 6 maps. Bethesda failed on this game.

@Darkwaffles13 You do realize that Splash Damage ( The Developers of Brink ) made an update to the game a couple of Weeks ago to patch the lag which is likely why you don't have it, that said I remember when I first started playing Online on Brink and the lag was terrible and somewhat mesmerizing, so it is nice that they patched it, however the Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) is still a big issue.
If you're going to review a game, you need to first make sure you understand the basic concept of the game and its mechanics. By not even loading a tutorial, you approached this game as a typical FPS which it is not. It is a team based shooter with Smart Movement. Neither of which you discussed clearly, understood, or demonstrated it. As a reviewer, you need to do better homework before giving your impression, browse through the manual, or the very least, read the back of the game box, please.
I couldn't disagree more. You aren 100% not playing the game as intended, did not learn even how to Parkour at all, did not do a single challenge to learn how to play. What you did was this: Thought it was like an average COD game where you could jump in and play without even checking the manual. Go play COD please.

So your giving a game a bad review because the game has some severe glitches that will probably be fixed within a week or 2? Really? You sir are a complete idiot, the game is created be Splash Damage so it was obviously designed for the PC. Try the PC version of this and you will see my point. There is almost no lag, the S.M.A.R.T system works like a charm and the game just generally runs perfectly. Hell Black Ops was the same in it's 1st week of release.
I hate that so many people are giving this game a bad rep. I bought the thing when it first came out. I love it. Honestly, its just fun to play. The actual gameplay is smooth, the SMART system runs great, every gun in the game is balanced, and the teamwork aspects works surprisingly well. The multiplayer is hell, I know, but I expect that to be fixed. The arguments that the game is slower paced and the style is bad is just invalid. I would just like to people to realize that this is NOT COD.
I am having incredible lag in Norway at this point. I love the game i just want to be able to play with my buddies and online with some other people. Why is there a problem with the matches being long? Surely a longer match will give a better gaming experience. The only difference in timing is that each primary objective completed adds more time. Why does kill/death ration matter? The game isn't singularly competitive, so don't treat it that way. Having the whole map in the palm of your hand demotes player independence. The smart system requires practice on the player's part. The whole argument about Brink is about personal taste.

Brink is a good game in is own way but unfortunately alot of people compare every FPS to COD it's time they grow up and see the good sides of other FPS

@carsontroeh I would like you to know that I do like COD and I am not a bc2 fanboy. Yes I like COD, Brink, and BC2, but that doesn't mean that I am a BC2 fanboy. A fanboy is someone who likes a genre so much that when they decide to play a new genre that can't get into it so they have to go back to the old genre. WTF is going on? Every review is saying this lags loads. I have this on PS3 and I played it all day yesterday and there was no lag, no glitches, even the AI wasn't that bad, seriously stop hating on Brink it's fun to play and it's a great game.

1. The campaigns took me 2 hours to beat.
2. The "story" was just a few short, ambiguous cut scenes before every level. There was no draw or established sense of purpose whatsoever.
3. The AI is terrible.
4. The levels aren't terribly unique from one another, and mixed with the same 2 or 3 types of objectives in the game, it gets insanely monotonous.
5. The LAG. Jesus christ the lag.
I just don't get it.

I am unhappy with this game. I'm just going to say that right now. BUT you are only focusing on the bad. There is plenty of good gameplay and intense firefights in this game, if you can get past the lag. Also, you keep saying how the company [Splash Damage] is just gonna give up on this game and is only interested in the money when I know for a FACT that the first DLC (Which includes more game types and hopefully fixed connection) will be 100% free... But wait until then before buying.

this is one of the most frustrating games ive played in a while. the campaign is the same shit on both sides, no story whatsoever, same objectives every map, useless AI. Also, they make you defend sites for 10 minutes, which is EXTREMELY redundant. im thinking of returning it already.

Everyone says that people don't like this game because it isn't CoD. There is a clear difference between a game that is not CoD and game that is just poorly constructed and supported. The fact that it's not CoD is not everyones reason that they do not like it, so stop using that as an excuse to justify why someone does not like any general FPS. I believe Wings can recognize when a game is just not good.

The only reason Wingsofredemption doesn't like Brink is 1. because it is not C.o.D. 2. you have to play objective 3. Brink is a game to play with friends, not try to "pwn noobs" in an online match and 4. it is not about kills so he hates (a.k.a. it not C.o.D.) Wingsofredemption is a stupid C.o.D. fanboy! Do not listen to this stupid C.o.D. player who thinks everything is about kills and owning! Brink is a 9/10! A very good buy if you like BBC2!! Get it!

the reason why you SHOULDNT listen to him about waiting to buy the game is because of maintenence. WoW was so successful because the monthly payments allowed Blizzard to regularly update the game and make it better. I think this guy needs to give brink a break: its a new direction for first-person shooters. i find it a refreshing break from CoD.

@jfalconi3 It was barely prepared. I've heard that the PC version is the promised version that everyone was expecting, but for consoles you're just buying yourself rage. It's laggy, the AI are fucking horrible. It's l like fighting an invincible wall of enemies that spawn the moment they die and you're teammates are holding the controller with their feet. The controls are fucking horrendous. There's no campaign, and only 6 maps. Bethesda failed on this game.

@Darkwaffles13 You do realize that Splash Damage ( The Developers of Brink ) made an update to the game a couple of Weeks ago to patch the lag which is likely why you don't have it, that said I remember when I first started playing Online on Brink and the lag was terrible and somewhat mesmerizing, so it is nice that they patched it, however the Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) is still a big issue.

If you're going to review a game, you need to first make sure you understand the basic concept of the game and its mechanics. By not even loading a tutorial, you approached this game as a typical FPS which it is not. It is a team based shooter with Smart Movement. Neither of which you discussed clearly, understood, or demonstrated it. As a reviewer, you need to do better homework before giving your impression, browse through the manual, or the very least, read the back of the game box, please.

This guy's "review" is simply too biased, he claims the game is a rip off but never says of which game in particular, he also states that the game is terrible, yes there is horrible lag in the Xbox version but he makes no effort to show the customization aspects of the game or the movement system and still talks trash about them.
If you are going to hate a game at least justify...

So your giving a game a bad review because the game has some severe glitches that will probably be fixed within a week or 2? Really? You sir are a complete idiot, the game is created be Splash Damage so it was obviously designed for the PC. Try the PC version of this and you will see my point. There is almost no lag, the S.M.A.R.T system works like a charm and the game just generally runs perfectly. Hell Black Ops was the same in it's 1st week of release.

I hate that so many people are giving this game a bad rep. I bought the thing when it first came out. I love it. Honestly, its just fun to play. The actual gameplay is smooth, the SMART system runs great, every gun in the game is balanced, and the teamwork aspects works surprisingly well. The multiplayer is hell, I know, but I expect that to be fixed. The arguments that the game is slower paced and the style is bad is just invalid. I would just like to people to realize that this is NOT COD.

I am having incredible lag in Norway at this point. I love the game i just want to be able to play with my buddies and online with some other people.
