One of the stronger entries that year and even described as ethereal by Terry Wogan (not only on the night but on the preview also), and expected to be in the top three at least. All in all, probably too good for the show as was Italy's entry that year, and an insight to Luxembourgs desire to win with strong ballads. Thanks for posting this, even though I'm a Brit, I'm ashamed to say the show came from Harrogate that year. Where? Exactly.
What Italian entry? They didn't compete again until in Munich in 1993. But you're right, why host the contest in this village that I seem to have a lot of trouble locating?
because it was a way of de-centralising the competition - after all why let London have all the fun? Harrogate is a small, well-off village in Yorkshire.
What you mean 'I'm ashamed to say it came from Harrogate'? ... Ashamed?? Harrogate is one of the richest places in the UK, with more millionaires per sq mile than anywhere in southern england! Least its not surrounded with great big blocks of grotty council flats like London!
A lady commentator - how nice! Though RTL seemed not to want people to come to Luxembourg, as the postcard is awful.
Svetlana - such a typical Luxembourgian name... She looks a bit like my grandma. As most Luxembourgian entry, hard to recall, but when you hear it you know you like it. Svetlana is a bit too squeaky here, but the studio version is better.
The guys in the back were perhaps originally members of the Swedish delegation, or work as middle managers for IKEA Luxembourg.
The studio version is better because it has significant emphasis on dialog between the singer and backing vocal that is hard to notice in live version. Her voice is also much much softer that adds the ilusion of internal dialog.
I'm somewhere down the middle. I think this is a nice tune, and thoughtful lyrics (e.g. "You want to win, I want to love"). But the 6th place was certainly a little overrated - I'd rather have seen Spain or Portugal in its place.
Svetlana is Russian.

Does anybody know the guy on the left? Son of the president of RTL :) He is back vocalist for almost all Luxembourg entries.

The guy on the right, not on the left. sorry...

Yup, he did appear quite a bit. France 1981 and Luxembourg 1983 to name but two others! ;-)

The translation of the BBC is not right. It has to be "Run after time"

Philosophical lyrics: Toi tu veux gagner, moi je vais aimer.(You want to win, I am going to love.).Unfortunately the music is quite boring!

You're right; judging from the postcard, Luxemburg could double as 'the Bridge', with no population. (LOL at the backing singers, btw.)

That high pitched singing at the end must have shattered your thick black rimmed spectacles

Don't know about them (never wore them) but my watch will never be the same. LOL!

@Bravadaa Svetlana is a Russian name, not Luxembourgian!

Not that year's or Luxembourg's best, but still a very nice song and performance, and a worthy 6th place.
