i cant even get to unlimited rt ... first there isnt an option in that rt button, but then when i actually set it to unlimited rt, it still has the same thing ....

i love the fcs workflow but this rendering thing is so annoying! i dont know any other editing programs that make you render before playback avid and premiere can playback everything in real time.

i'm making an action sports dvd and would like it to start with a short intro, using motion or fcp, to highlight a few different clips. then going directly into a menu screen with either a looping background video and audio track or a stationary background. maybe using a moving camera in motion.... thanks eric i appreciate any and all help.

There is another very clever way, convert your video to the apple intermediate codec, it will make it so you never have to render, convert your video using MPEG Streamclip. Make sure when you convert that it is in 720p or above! Also this effect works in final cut express.

AIC codec wont stop you from having to render. And you wont be able to play the clip back and adjust your effects at the same time. unless you use this trick. Rendering, you cant do away with it completely no matter what. once you apply filter after filter you will have to render. But id stay with my source media instead of re-compressing it to AIC due to quality loose. Change your sequence to match codec not change your codec to match sequence. Converting to AIC does not do away with rendering

WIth the AIC codec, some filters you apply to the video you have to render with but some you don't, also it is so much quicker to render in aic but takes ages to convert to aic, the quality of aic is not the best as you said but it is good enough, what is apple pro res 4:2:2 by the way?
