  • I am sorry but how can people not like hogarth he is a brilliant frontman! I really liked fish and was upset that he left but hogarth is a brilliant!!!

  • A motherfucker don't like it...

  • I'm the coocool in your ness....sign :jesus christ himself

  • @verweejerome It's "I'm the cuckoo in your nest".

  • @JonA001 I'm the cuckoo in your nest. sign: Jesus

  • You may not recall the moment that you ask me....great song

  • I remember this song from the 80s. Great to be able to see the video. No You Tube back in the 1980s.

  • At 0:44 "I'm the thirteenth (13th) at the table"

The name "Mary Magdalene" has 13 letters !

    For Dan Brown:

"you made a big mistake all right The day you let me in" (!!!)

  • @marmendes1970, @totopitbull, @religiaodoespirito, @olivaisblue, @Dinilto

"you made a big mistake all right The day you let me in"

    -------------------------------------------------

    Marillion = Mary In Lyon

Marillion = My Angel Ruler is Lucifer, Lucifer Is Octavia Neronis.

Ah, sim, e eu ia me esquecendo :

Na canção "Blue angel" (no terceiro disco) eles encontram "Magdalene" em Lyon - cidade de Kardec e colônia romana onde nasceu Claudio, o pai de Claudia Octavia.

Mary (Magdalene) In Lyon = Marillion.

  • At 0:44 "I'm the thirteenth (13th) at the table"

  • @marmendes1970

Aos 44 segundos : "I'm the thirteenth at the table" = Eu sou o décimo terceiro à mesa".

    Mary in Lyon = Marillion

  • love Hogarth... he is a great Marillion front man

  • Jesse from Full House?? :D

  • It's hard to top Fish who excels at fantasy stuff (and Marillion used to do a lot of that), but compare what Hogarth did in Marillion and Wilson did in Genesis... Hogarth wasn't half a bad choice.

  • Awesome song, awesome band, awesome album. Who misses fish anyway after having heard H on this record?

  • Ian Mosley's drumming is very complicated in this song particularly in the 1st and 2nd verse. Also has anyone noticed the echo during the second half of the song?

  • Ian Mosley's drumming is very complicated in this song particularly in the 1st and 2nd verse

  • if people have to comment can it please not be to slag off steve howgarth? sick of seeing it everywhere! im glad fish is gone, we've had several epic solo albums from him and if he had remained they would be the marilion albums. theres only ever been one megalomanicac in marillion and it was fish! i love both incarnations and see them as too different to really compare and frankly, the more peope dislike the howgarth stuff, the less commercial they are forced to be. RANT OVER!

  • Great song. Fish is a great singer.

  • For me people that say "For me a group end with the departure of 1 member" don't count.

Music is music, Marillion with Fish and Marillion with Steve are different things but always Marillion, for me Steve Hogarth has voice, class, everything...

  • LOVE it

  • Warlock.

  • @Geges45 No, he looks lite a welder.

  • To Me, Fish will always be the 'Marillion King', Marillion were the best band ever in my opinion from 82-88, H has done a good job, taking them more commerically, but I only really like Seasons End and the Marbles Collection... But this is a class song!

  • @totopitbull

  • Steve Hogath has a fantastic voice in his own right and shouldn't be compared to Fish :)

  • One of the best video clips ever!

  • Season's End was an excellent debut by Hogarth imo. This is a well crafted song. Caught them at the Garage in Glasgow back in April '97 (This Strange Engine Tour warm up gig). I like both eras of the band. Cheers for posting.

  • This is just one amazing group.....new fan.....HOW did I miss them? <3 it!

  • Fantastic video! H = :)

  • Fantastic video......"H" has some kind of WILD eyes!

  • WOW...love it!

  • Simpatico video hahahah

  • This is great video!

  • My favorite Marillion song (Hogarth era)...

  • Great job Hogarth, a lot of expression, involvement, emotion, it was always going to be hard to come after Fish and he did it well!

  • that clip is very cool, & good

We family listen that all day.

  • Powerful song from a fantastic album!Great music.

  • OMG Steve Hogarth is HOT!!! I love this video

  • Love Marillion. Going to see them later in the year. The acoustic tour. Can't wait.

  • Great song

  • gets stuck at 1 41 :(

  • always loved this song, but compared to Fish imaybe it's a bit "incommunicado" - except 1:53

  • Amazing

  • Another awesome Marillion track and film clip!

Thanks again for the post, Geges45.

    Awesome stuff, 5/5 and favourited.

  • Great song.

  • Beautiful song and fantastic lyrics!!!

  • Anyone else noticed he looks like Peter Petreli from Heroes?

  • was just thinking that

  • @AdamDante :|

  • @AdamDante

No, he looks like a welder.

  • this is a very nice video thanks for posting :-)

  • I finally get this song thanks to the video! It's only been twelve years...

    xxxx

  • Mark Kelly with hair! Very scary!!

  • Excelent video, best hoghart era

  • This Rocks Iam going to see them in November

  • I was originally a Fish Fan, bbut now after hearing this song, I like both lol, and Im only 13 lol

  • In this particular video S.Hogarth resembles Danny "Weird" Elfman, doesn't he?

  • he´s soooooo sexy, rrrrrRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrr

  • I love this song since it was an anthem of mine when I was dating a woman who I still refer to as "The Evil One."

This song was not only about her, but our entire relationship. I like to refer to that time as "My Own Personal Viet Nam"

  • obviously, a sad, lonely person like you doesn't...the world doesn't need you.

Thanks for the in-depth input into someone else's memory.

    I feel sorry for you.

  • we used this sog in high school when we did a play about AIDS. it is a great song

  • For me Marillion ended in 1989, from that point on I refuse to think of them other than The Steve Hogarth Band. But nonetheless, this song and video are really nice, and Steve Hogarth indeed does look good here. I think this is my favourite song by this line-up.

  • I was like you at 1st, then Ive listen some great song with mister H, & now I think we have 2 different worlds in one band

  • Try to listen "Neverland"

    Great!!!

  • Or the whole marbles album fir that matter. And, you're right, i don't think you should listen to it as being the 'old' Marillion, rather a contemporary band making 'prog pop'(not prog rock!) In their own way, I think, they sound more like Radiohead, Muze of even (AHHHH) Coldplay.

  • Not Coldplay! Never coldplay. ahaha. (I get what you're saying though, esspecially on Somewhere Else. Mostly I think they sound a lot more mature though, I'd say there's some Portishead sound in there, as well as a lot of the New Wave sound that H brought in from The Europeans and How We Live. The XTC influence shows too. Maybe even Jeff Buckley.

  • Maybe so, but 'The Steve Hogarth Band' is goddam excellent. The entirely of Marbles moves me more than any Fish album, and for me Season's End compares too, though perhaps they were more consistent when they had Fish. I think both eras are completely essential listening, and respective side projects.

  • Well, recently I've been listening to h-era albums more and more and I have no other choice but to agree. And yeah, Marbles is damn great.

But I still think Brave is boring. :)

  • @M3n747

That's quite a narrow-minded way to look at it. Fish didn't compose the music for Marillion -- the other four did. So to perceive Marillion's identity as being inextricably linked to Fish is very shallow -- unless you think Fish's vocals & lyrics were the whole of Marillion. Free clue: they weren't. Marillion was and IS far more.

After Pete Best's departure from The Beatles, did you consider them "The Ringo Starr Band" from that point forward?

  • @Ken5244 Please note that I wrote that some two years ago - I had plenty of time to change my mind about a couple of things and I did. :) (Pete Best? Never heard of him, but then again I'm not a Beatles fan.)

  • @M3n747

No problem. It took awhile for some Marillion fans to accept H after Fish left the band, but Marillion has been doing > 20 years worth of great music with H now and it's time for people to either get onboard or shut the hell up.

Glad you chose the former. *laugh* Welcome aboard. :-)

Oh, and Pete Best was The Beatles' original drummer, replaced by Ringo Starr just before they broke big.

  • @M3n747 agreed on all points.

  • @M3n747

I scoured for this comment after lots of people agreed with it, and I must agree!

  • @everton619 You mean the older comment where I say I don't like the new direction of the band, or the newer comment where I say I changed my mind? ;)

  • @M3n747

    Originally the old comment ;)

  • Mmmmh, nearly forgot how damned cute this guy looked ;-)

  • Amazing song from an amazing album. Seasons End rocks!

  • Is it just me? Or does that song get better every year?

  • You'll pretend you've never met me but it's far to late Now I'm here I'm the who loves you best And you made a big mistake all right The day you let me in And you can fly to the other side of the world You know you'll only find I've reserved the seat behind you I'm the uninvited guest Let me in!
  • great! Many years I was looking for it

  • exactly what ive been sayin for months he does look like that guy from heroes

  • Looks like the dude from Heroes. Must have watched this video a hundred times. I remember taping it off the Chart Show when it came out and watching continuosly. Blew me away when I first saw it. Still great nearly 20 years later.

  • WOW! I just discovered this song has a clip! Love Marillion, love h's voice, love Rothery's solos, love the lyrics... By the way, h looks VERY good in the clip! :-)

  • Whoever had the idea for this video was completely wrong. If there were three Steve Hogarths, I don't think this is quite how it would go down. It would be much funnier and not just the facial expressions. Great video and great song.

  • One of the best songs ever.

  • i think it too ! i really like Marillion! many styles in only one group !! :D

  • I was just trying to upload this! Only checking it wasn't uploaded yet, but it is.. ^^

    Lovely, lovely song.x
