Greece's problem was not the bankers. Greece's problem can be summed up by the fact that the Greek government wanted to be a big economic hitter but it was a small relatively backward country. The Greek government tried to fund lifestyle spending on loans. A 1st year economic student will tell you that you can't fund current spending with loans. In spite of HUGE EU subsidy they still ran up huge debt. Corruption+ Ambition = Greek Debt. They have to cut and they can not blame bankers..
The banks need to get their house in order and stop trying to think that because you run the markets that they own people, you don't!
This move by the Greek Prime Minister, is brilliant, putting the future of the Greek people into their hands.
You know, you would think the banks would have learned their lesson and started to control themselves and their lending, but I doubt it! Greed and expectancy is the cause of this mess
not the car not the shop of that hard working person...
not the window of that house of that old woman who barrely come round..
THE BANKERS you need to target..riots oke..frustration oke but get the people who are realy responsible for this mess..you people are so stupit so grrrrrr i get furious watching this..take the speculators the bankers
every time its the same thingm wrecking youre own city and they are just lauching at you they all are...
wish all greeks go down under the ground with this crisis. i wish they get bombed or something like the serbs. maybe they will come out of it like better people.

Where is the balance? Winners and losers. All I see is the IMF giving "money" to help countries pay debts. Where is the IMF getting all this "money"? I see the losers. On the other hand who are the winners and why do they hide?
The people of Greece have already protested en masse on the streets of Athens over the EU agenda to dominate and subjugate them economically via austerity measures. The people of Holland, France and Ireland have rejected the EU Lisbon Treaty via a referendum. Financially erudite English have fought off the prospect of the pound sterling being replaced with the Euro. The traitor politicians that have surrendered Europe’s sovereign states to the criminally corrupt EU project must be punished.
haha, spend more, he does not care where the money comes from. I'm a university professor, I speak shill for the elites, who need more money. Deficit spending is just theft. The crisis is a moral crisis, a crisis of intervention like in the 30's. The government is a group of people who are allowed to steal (tax) and murder (war). Gvt theft has risen too high for the productive people to carry. They fold and this stops the flow of money to this professor. He not likey
@allgoo19 I am not a professor, I was paraphrasing this guy, schilling for the elites.
But I do know that there was a credit boom in the US which burst with the great crash of 1929 which lasted in the us until 1945. This is more commonly known as the great depression.
@modelmark "the great crash of 1929 which lasted in the us until 1945.."
You have it all wrong.
The depression peaked (as far as unemployment rise went) in 1933, then got better and by 1950-60s, the dollar was by far the strongest currency.
Even before 1929, sign of something big to come was everywhere. Did you know the president didn't even want to run for the re-election while he was eligible? What else could be if not for seeing market collapse was eminent in the future?
@allgoo19 ofcourse the crash was bound to come. After the fed was founded in 1913, credit expansion began to finance WWI. The new credit caused prices to rise including stock prices and everyone ws happy in what was known as the roaring twenties. The Florida land boom was the first to crash, stock market second. The depth of the depression was could be placed in 1933 when the stock market bottomed.
Most will say the great depression ended with the start of WWII, but I'd argue it was after WWII.
@allgoo19 something is not true or false because some state funded economist says it is true or false, just like someone is not peaceful because he got the nobel peace prize, someone is not true about economy when he gets a nobel prize for economy.
Something is true because it is internally logically consistent and compliant with the facts of reality. I debate ideas on those merits and not on weather how many people you can fund to claim an idea is true.
@allgoo19 I don't know how to debate with someone who has a different standard of truth. Every debate in my view is about the truth or falsehood of a thesis. You have different ideas on that than I do. This results in a situation in which we say opposite things, but we both claim to be right according to our own standard of truth. Opposite or logically contradictory claims in my view are always false.
Don't make an excuse for not having the answer. You never had your own opinion, you read it somewhere and believed it because you just liked it, then decided everything else is stupid
What's so difficult about describing the definition of "end of great depression" if you came up wih your own conclusion?
@allgoo19 you are doing something called projection. You say the GD was in the 20s, but also claim the highest unemployment was in 1933. You proceed by haughtily asking me a definition of depression. You claim I can not think for myself and just adopt something I hear and like, but you are projecting here as well. I used to have a very different point of view. The problem with stabbing in the dark at your unknown opponent, is that you only reveal a lot about yourself.
@modelmark "asking me a definition of depression .."
I said, definition of "end of GD", nor "definition of "GD". I always wonder about that. Where that comes from, who decided it?
And your answer?
By the way, you took my word in the wrong way. It was you, made it sounds like GD happened in 1930s. It happened in 1920s, then spilled into1930s. The recovery started in 1934.
It is most refreshing to see someone who can combine information and formulate a sound case. Intellectual dishonesty is today EVERYWHERE because the masses have largely 'chosen' -largely subconsciously- to follow authority rather than truth.
In fact, most people haven't got the slightest conception of what truth even is. They can merely BELIEVE, and since they know which side their bread is buttered, they figure it's best to side with authority no matter how insane its discourse.
By the way, what the comment above really means? You mean college professors are biased because they are all paid partly by the gov. so they have the obligation to make opinion in favor of the gov. policy?
Name a few of those.
It sounds like to me, the economists you are in favor of are the ones paid by the corporate bankers who are in no secret making their opinion in favor of of their profit.
@allgoo19 like I said:I am only interested in truth and that requires consistency. Yes, if you are paid with stolen money, that will influence your opinion of the thieve. You are in his service, for no one would voluntarily employ you for your nonsense.
@modelmark "like I said:I am only interested in truth .."
Your truth is about the articles you read, not from the historical occurence then drew your own conclusion. Quite similar to the way religious people do.
Not surprisingly, they think all the scientific evidence are nonsense too.
@allgoo19 There is no such thing as 'your truth' and 'my truth', there is only truth and that is what you debate about. When you state:"Your truth is about the articles you read", that is an assertion. I can do nothing with assertions. Just postulating an assertion as truth is what religious people do. I count you among them. They state 'my bible is truth' and others postulate 'my koran' is truth. My standard of truth is that reality is consistent and so must truth be consistent.
@allgoo19 In the recovery in 1934 you call the end of the GD, unemployment never dropped below 14% and in 1938 GNP falls by 4.5% and unemployment rises to 19%. I do not consider that to be the end of the GD. Stuffing everyone in an army, I also do not count. I'd say it is something like unemployment below 10% for a year. But even if you have 10 year unemployment of 15%, one year of 8% and 5 years of 15%, I do not have a fundamental problem tying these periods together either.
@modelmark "In the recovery in 1934 you call the .."
There's already answer for that if you look a little deeper. This means it's the first time you looked ino this subject? And you make fun of a college professor who has more credential than you?
@allgoo19 I'v read a lot about it, what you are doing is not debating in my book. It is just trolling and, arguments from authority, shaming. I have also debated a lot about it and can detect someone who is willing to debate on first principles, from someone who is .. not. Credentials are not a proof of truth to me, no philosophical principle states:those who have credential hold the truth. If you think so, you must yourself be sensitive to authority in quest for truth, good luck.
@modelmark "Credentials are not a proof of truth to me.."
Have you tried to have acknowledgement from academia, by publishing, submitting a report etc?
If not, your opinion hasn't been challenged, which means yours is no different from anonymous blog on the net. On the other hand, professors like you see in the video whose opinions are always beind subject of criticism.
@allgoo19 For someone who blindly follows authority, my opinion is indeed not different from any other in any blog on the internet. There was a man called Gallileo and he said the earth was rotating around the sun and not the other way around. All authorities who published a ton of work, claimed he was wrong. Yet he was right. Authority and acceptance is no proof of truth. If it is to you, you are just an empty vat for someone else's ideas.
@allgoo19 Why do you even bother talking at me? Do you seek my approval for your endorsed theft and murder by governments? The only thing that matters is who controls the guns of state and can coerce the other to obey by his laws. It does not matter who wins any debate, force is all that matters in your world. I will not participate nor approve your actions. But I do not even believe you will come out on top in the scramble for power.
@allgoo19 for me it makes sense. I enjoy thinking and seeking truth by looking for princiiples. For you it does not, because you move others through coercion and control of the power apparatus. You can stop using arguments, you are not in an intellectual debate or a debate what so ever. You are in a fight, it has nothing to do with truth.
Make sense of what? You are not thinking, I can tell you that much. Like so many people, you are selling someone else's opinion and you don't even know it.
Ordinary Joe who has no talent to speak of living in the illusion that whose (someone else's)opinion is worth the same as a college professor with good credential.
'Ordinary Joe who has no talent to speak of living in the illusion that whose (someone else's)opinion is worth the same as a college professor with good credential.'
Incredible statement. And of course it means your own opinion is completely worthless since it is worthless even in your own eyes, since you're obviously not a professor.
I'm not comparing myself to a professor in terms of credentials, but he does.'
How interesting your post immediately starts with a lie. Although it was completely obvious, you didn't get that modelmark was insinuating that the guy he was talking to had a ridiculously authoritative mindframe relying blindly on authority. You thought modelmark was talking about HIMSELF but he wasn't, and he CLARIFIED this:
'I am not a professor, I was paraphrasing this guy, schilling for the elites'
Again, your post simply showsvery bad reading comprehension, forcing me to repeat myself which is completely pointless. I'll do it once though.
I said:
'How interesting your post immediately starts with a lie.' and you react to this sentence apparently without even getting what I'm referring to, although this is clarified with my ENTIRE POST to you.
So, WHAT LIE was I referring to?
It's RIGHT THERE, I'm QUOTING YOU, at the beginning of my post:
No it isn't. Since you've demonstrated that your atrocious reading comprehension excludes an exchange, I've decided to end it. It's not a concession, it's a rational decision based on awareness of your condition. I sympathize, but I'm not a social worker, sorry.
If it looks like a concession, sounds like a concession, it must be a concession-- to ther people and that's where it counts. It's not for you to decide.
I'll believe you if you can answer this
How do YOU interpret this "Credentials are not a proof of truth to me.."?
'I'm not comparing myself to a professor in terms of credentials, but he does.'
The lie is of course that modelmark is comparing himself to a professor. Why must I repeat a post?
Here's what I said, AGAIN:
'Although it was completely obvious, you didn't get that modelmark was insinuating that the guy he was talking to had a ridiculously authoritative mindframe relying blindly on authority. You thought modelmark was talking about HIMSELF but he wasn't, and he CLARIFIED this:...
This 'choice' has profound implications and it's quite scary to see how many people are simply psychologically incapacitated to assess the validity of perfectly clear and sound reasoning. It means nothing to them, like a foreign language...
@suddenlyitsobvious haha, a foreign language. Well said, it certainly feels like that. Today a new episode of the insane running the asylum. Lots of banned and mandatory things, stock markets crashing, Greenspan says the USAA+ can never default because they can always print money. Europe rulers in a spending contest, London in flames. The productive tax slaves are to fold further, bend deeper for their masters. The cup must be emptied.
The entire crisis is designed. They now all go: 'WE' have spent too much, 'WE' have been irresponsible, when since 1913 there has never been a 'WE'.
They knew exactly what they were doing when they lowered interest rates in the US in the early 2000s and pushed unsolvable people to get mortgages they could never repay.
At the moment it's all about a very rapid push to massively increase debt, while making sure society gets nothing to show for it (austerity).
@suddenlyitsobvious I think it has some more to go as well. I once heard that you used to be able to buy a decent family home for about 2 kg of gold (65 ounces). I think that time will come back and it will overshoot on the other side.
Overshooting meaning the purchase of a decent house will require LESS than 2 kg? I don't see why not but neither do I see why that would be good news.
Seeing how goldprices are skyrocketing because the $ is losing value at an astronomical rate, it stands to reason to figure 2kg of gold -today worth approx 112,000$- could within months easily suffice for such a purchase. Goldprice increased about 40% over the past 12 months.
@suddenlyitsobvious I just look at gold, since you need a measuring stick independent of fiat crashing currencies. If you look at the Dow in gold, there has not been a recovery since 2000, the whole thing was fiat inflation phony recovery. Measured in gold, it was down all the way. Housing was the last mega bubble with everyone fully committed, I think it has more to fall and gold more to rise. I also think the Dow will sell for an ounce of gold.
@suddenlyitsobvious not claiming this is good news by the way, rioting and misery, but inevitable by now. Just as inevitable as a junky going into overdose.
I see, a person can't stand to a challenge looking for a comfort of friends?
Like a child crying for mommy's help? ^_^
Which part of this you don't agree?
"The economy kept going up since the unemployment peaked in 1933 to end of 1960s. New Deal started to be dismantled in 1960s, then economy never recovered to the level once was."
Do you like the economy we are having now, modelmark?
'Something is true because it is internally logically consistent and compliant with the facts of reality. I debate ideas on those merits and not on weather how many people you can fund to claim an idea is true.'
He he he. Well said! When the programmed and the deluded don't have actual arguments -which tends to happen- and can't address the argument of their interlocutor since they can't process data individually, they always start to whine about references and sources.
Greece has problems. The US has problems. One of the problems of Greece is the deficit. One of the things that isn't a problem in the US is the deficit. Why? Currency-sovereignty. There's a huge difference in how fiscal and monetary policy are run in the Eurozone and in the US and the biggest problem for the Eurozone is that no one in it is currency-sovereign. It will lead to either US-type federal politics or decentralisation of the currency, eventually.
@badsign1980 Where are your sources from? Prostitution is illegal in Greece, therefore it cannot contribute to the gross domestic production if it pays no taxes. As for bambling. It goes on in every western society, including yours... I suggest you look at your own mess before you start pointing fingers.
The socialists in Greece burden themselves and more importantly the rest of the EU countries taxpayers with "a crisis born of" an enormous budget deficit spending and then they blame it on "neo-liberal". Incredible. The Greeks should never have been allowed into the EEC/EC/EU or they should have been thrown out when they threatened to veto Spain's and Portugal's membership unless they were paid a lot of money. Or at least not allowed into the Euro. Treat them like spoilt children!
@ssesf When did these "socialists" come into power? Could they possibly have contributed to the problems? You better ask some questions before you make those statements, dude. It's simply not okay. As for the gov't debt - The problem with the Greece debt is that it 1. is in a foreign currency and 2. has been run up by military dictators and later on by corrupt politicians. The problem with the Greece economy in general is the disdain for government and endemic corruption.
There's no such thing as "neoliberalism" its a myth made up by the Far Left because they don't like liberalism. Which is what they are actually talking about instead. The Far Left believes in Democratic Socialism which is different from liberalism.
@FRSFreeStateES Bull. The far left like liberalism more than i do and i like it. For an example, the theoretical construct of communism is actually egalitarian liberalism in a communitarian setting. What the left doesn't like is market liberalism. Neo-liberalism exists and is mainly opposed to social-liberalism, which is the other big faction in liberalism.
Neoliberalism means absolutely nothing, its a word fabricated by the left to mean whatever they say it means. Like "Prochoice" means we believe in choice, but its not about choice its about life and death for a fetus, but when your motives are evil you have to change the argument to choice. Another liberal word is "Racism" its defined by the left as something that occurs only by whites towards any and all minorities, "Minorities another made up word to make some people feel disadvantaged
Liberalism has been kept alive by Conservative compromise and tolerance. You don't compromise with Darkness because no matter how small the compromise the world becomes a little darker and this is the hope of the liberal, that little by little the Light becomes Dark
@JesusNonEnviromental You don't know what neoliberalism is do you? Does it ring any bells if I tell you that it is the economic theory underlying the Reagan and Thatcher administration?
but you are wrong my fellow economist Greece is having a large inflation because multinationals that are oligopolies can maintain increased prices while smaller Greek companies close down. These corporations have so large market leverage that they are able to gain profits and at the same time cause inflation.
I'm wondering how much longer untill the shit hits the fan here in the US. Just like Greece the US deficit is impossible to bridge, and just like Greece it is all in foreign hands Saudis, Kuweitis, Chinese, Germans etc. How longer will these people keep buying US Treasury bonds, especially since NOTHING is produced here in the US anymore. Or perhaps they're afraid of the US military: keep lending us money or will flatten you like Baghdad lol
usa owes trillions yes but the money they owe is Not based on Gold silver but on FA u got desent politicians?print your own money based on FA pay them off print few more Trillions n "BUY" u r ford knox gold back then print few more trillions n buy all the roperty they "OWN" in the usa AFTER THAT MAKE SURE THEY ALSO SWEAT FOR THEIR LIVING LIKE THE REST OF THE PPL hard at first but they will get used to it THIS IS THE REAL PROBLEM NOTHING ELSE
how can you possibly have a bunch of crooks PRINTING MONEY AT WILL BASED ON FA RESERVES yet the whole world must use their BOG money to trade with so a country like the usa with the BEST industry in the world owes so much to so few who produce NOTHING WTF gave them the right to print money at will But crooked POLITICIANS ITS MADNESS work all u can for u r money all they have to do it print more u rmoney is worth less u poor they rich they got u by the balls
Who is this guy? Dude, I like you but can you get a lapel mic or something? That echo makes me think you are in your garage with a newsy looking backdrop behind you.
No. Greece Should be in crisis!!! In the 70's and 80's we had a saying - 'You are in debts like Greece' - Since the WW2 Greece has been only spending foreign money due to their geopolitical position in the Cold War. The pet of the West. And just because of that they are in the EU. All they mastered in between was creating bogus projects for extracting money from the EU funds. That is how Yugoslavia desintegrated. When the money stop pouring from outside, it was time to re- shuffle.
@lennycoh What are you talking about monkeydonian? Is this the history you read from Titios history books. Greece goes down monkeydonian. Monkeydonia goes down sooner than a blink of a eye. Our greedy businessmen shipped out to your country for cheaper working hands. If their busness are fucked so is your banana republic understand collega? DA?
lennycoh@messupurpc - Hahaha what a spirit. No pal, I am 40 years old and I am talking from my own experience. I was going every summer for cheap holidays in Greece in the 70s and 80s. You were little poor dogs licking our shoes and that is what you are gonna be again.
@lennycoh You're a funny guy for a former communist and a contemporary clone wannabe ancient Greek tribe. Go read your Tito teachings and feel happy about yourself. You're probably one of those half monkeydonian half queer canadian ex patriots, piss off dork!
@lennycoh sorry buddy we're too busy counting the euros they're sending us! We'll see how we're going to swindle this deal. Mmmmmm the smell of freshly printed money isn't life wonderfull P.S. who wants a pension anyway this is the common dream of all ex communists like yourself collega DA?
i don't understand the media's complete and utter out-of-proportion treatment of the Greek "Bail-out" which is really a 3-year loan. Did the media forget that the American people had to bail out the great US capitalistic system, not once, but TWICE? $ 1 trillion bail out of the US Banks by Bush, and $1 Trillion bail-out of the economy by Obama - total $2 Trillion! Why all this obsession with Greece?
Heil Greece !! I love this country and i feel sad that shits like those happened there ,,but that all because of Zions and Yanks ! Greece is great civiliasation ,,she shouldn't be in crisis !! Greece for the GREEKS !!!!
If Europe is lucky the Germans will once again save it from ruin: Like they repulsed the Romans and the Huns, broke our baleful hegemony during the age of Louis XIV and the usurper Napoleon and were close to defeat the Russia and Americans in the last war; now they may bring down the European Union, that bureaucratic nonsense, by so base a thing as money; we French and the Dutch voted in vain against the constitution and got it as treaty still so did the Irish but the Germans may prevail.
@imre1000 There's nothing apriori wrong with having a large government; that's not what caused the crisis. What caused the crisis is that Greece wanted a large government, but DIDN'T WANT TO PAY for it.
So they got deep into debt. Eventually they hit a wall, they could not legally borrow more money and be a member in the euro currency. Instead of being honest and embracing some combination of higher taxes and spending cuts they committed accounting fraud.
The economist states that cuts would "be a burden on the people". Well, duh.
Greece, just as the US, needs to suffer cuts and a reduced standard of living. If this means dissolution of pensions and having to compete in a non-unionized job market, so be it. The Frenchman is obviously a Keynesian subscriber and feels continued spending and entitlement will buy Greece its way out of ruin.
I'm with Germany (which is a top GDP and exporting country) on this one: efficiency before aid.
Problem = euro too high Germany cant export competatively
Solution= devalue euro
Is it possible? Yes international markets lose trust in euro unorthodox way of weakening the euro. Greece caught up in this on a large extent of its own doing but nicely set up by Germany as an easy scapegoat.
Result Greece goes bankrupt= cant pay its creditors = tens of thousands of Germans out of work Greece owes billions to German and US military industries not a rosy situation for us all!
@mccask13 If you live above your means for a period of time, there will come a period of time where you will be forced to live below your means.
This is blindingly obvious in relation to an individual household, but apparently once we are talking about governments this obvious truth somehow becomes "right-wing nuttery" and what we need is even more deficit spending and inflation(which is nothing more than a stealthy way to cut wages and repudiate part of the debt).
dont understand why cut in wage ,ya maybe goverment wage but not blue collar workers , dont make sense ,less money to workers means less spending which in turn less tax being gather so fourth . just a mad plan!! , the bankers need to be hung
Economists are about as useful as the accounting auditors and rating agencies. We could save a lot of money by just removing all these clowns from the payroll. Half of their ideas are just common sense that everyone understands and the other half is what gets us all into problems.
The solution for Greece is to revert back to there ancient history and sail off towards Rome and destroy Rome, take their gold, and make their people into slaves. Build a huge coliseum so the people can watch the slaves fight and wager bets. The country can impose a tax on the bets and balance their budgets.
Have you a better idea? I think the solution is war and that's plain and simple. Countries do that all the time rape, pillage and plunder. We did that in Iraq so we can steal their oil. The other alternative is pillage and plunder Goldman Sachs, UBS, AIG and all the other Wall St. companies who were responsible for this catastrophe.
We did not go into Irsg to steal there oil,, We went inbecause Saddam threatened to not take American dollors for his oil any more.. The us could not stand by and let this revolt aginst the dollor go on., Saddamy by that action commited suiside.
@pongman Shut up american. Go stuff your fat cholesterol filled body with KFC and McDonalds have a heart attack before your 50 and rid this world of your sorry existence. Don't want to hear comments from some lard ass who comes from a country that tolerates fiancial institutions who fuck around with the fate of millions of innocent people. Go find a quiet little corner of your air conditioned office and stop breathing. You'll do us all a favour.
I really appreciate Gerard Dumenil's perspective. Many people in the West have no idea what people in the third world have suffered under neo liberal policies. These policies have inhibited the growth of countries which are rich in natural resources and have no reason to be poor. Perhaps we in the first world can become much more conscious of the banking cartels and their strategies to dismantle all the democratic rights that have been won since the enlightenment.
It was refreshing listening to Professor Gerard Dumenil. His comments are contrary to many US economists.
His analysis of who caused the crisis is spot on. Yet, the hammer is coming down on the citizens to pay for the crimes of others.
What a shame that few recognize that where you continue to put pressure on people that social unrest will ensue. Even those that are silent now will fight once they realize that the pain will be increasing.
I listened to Dr. Hoenig, Pres. Fed Reserve of KC. You watch. After the elections (circa 2011) politicians left and right will be coming out saying it is our (wrong use of the word it is actually your) moral duty to pay more taxes. The debt crisis which was not caused by the average American will be required to be paid by the average American.
I am very confident that this speech will happen.
this french guy dont told the full story. they will set up a new fond in next weeks. the most money in this fond will come from germany like always in the eu.....
Ok heres the deal liberals---the socialist health care you want so bad can only be had if...now listen..this is the important part..end the wars and the trillion a year in empire military industrial complex..ya see all those other places you worship dont spend a trillion a year on military..so......you free loaders have to stop the wars and occupations before we can afford "free" HEALTH CARE..If not its not free at all..its a scam..
@stalkingalizee It takes two to tango. Greece's government was not defrauded by Goldman; they colluded with Goldman to hide their debt off balance sheet so they could avoid EU debt limits.
@stalkingalizee If your politicians can't be held responsible for the fraud they commit you live in a failed state. It is your civic duty to abolish the government by any means necessary(preferably starting with non-violent means and escalating only if necessary) and replace it with one that can be held accountable.
What Goldman has done is essentially say 'hey, we can help you commit accounting fraud so that you can keep borrowing without being kicked out of the EU.'
Greece already got rid of their corrupt government and elected Papandreous. The Simitis government made the deals with Goldman Sachs. Unlike failed states, Greece has a functioning democracy.
@stalkingalizee I will believe this when I see former government officials in jail. If the only punishment for criminal, potentially even treasonous behaviour is that you don't get re-elected you live in a failed state.
Papandreou is also corrupted and a fucking Jew..He is now turning to the IMF which means that Greek debt will rise and rise..He is one more traitor..Greek people are in prison without any fair political choice..Because both Socialists(pasok) and nationalists(ND) are corrupted..They were talking more and more loans and used dark economic instruments to hide their dirty jobs!Greece was doomed to fall..Our enemies are our politicians..They will pay the double for their ignorance for the Hellenes
If he is a fucking Jew then he is exactly what a bankrupt country needs. Jews are good with money. Hellenic public workers are acting like a bunch of babies. They know they get paid for doing practically nothing . They come to France to bail them out and we are happy to do it but you people need to learn to tighten the belt instead of throwing temper tantrums. Hellas riots way too much. If you want some money start taxing the fucking Schiptars Black Market.
You have to go back to 1971 - Nixon 's ending of sound money to get the debacle you have now.
Sure Nixon ending the gold backing of the US dollar was insane for the American people. (Nixon knew his country would implode because of his decision)
Ask yourself why ALL world governments accepted funny money as "world reserve:
Physical gold is world reserve the reason it goes up in price of funny money or fiat currency is because the central bank is counterfeiting currency. The planet's done for....
Those who organized 9/11 may use it once again. And this time to destroy US.
All the clues and imperfections around 9/11 were left INTENTIONALLY. This way one day we will be able to realize that the whole 9/11 thing was a hoax. But, again, only when elite will allow this.
When? When the elite is ready with all the infrastructure, laws, police

People say the only solution to the RACE problem is if EVERY and ONLY white countries “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.

haha, spend more, he does not care where the money comes from. He not likey
modelmark 7 months ago
@modelmark "I'm a university professor,.."
Yeah, right.
What kind of professor are you?
What crisis US had in 1930s are you talking about?
The crisis took place in 1920s.
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 I am not a professor, I was paraphrasing this guy, schilling for the elites.
But I do know that there was a credit boom in the US which burst with the great crash of 1929 which lasted in the us until 1945. This is more commonly known as the great depression.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "the great crash of 1929 which lasted in the us until 1945.."
You have it all wrong.
The depression peaked (as far as unemployment rise went) in 1933, then got better and by 1950-60s, the dollar was by far the strongest currency.
Even before 1929, sign of something big to come was everywhere. Did you know the president didn't even want to run for the re-election while he was eligible? What else could be if not for seeing market collapse was eminent in the future?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 ofcourse the crash was bound to come. After the fed was founded in 1913, credit expansion began to finance WWI. The new credit caused prices to rise including stock prices and everyone ws happy in what was known as the roaring twenties. The Florida land boom was the first to crash, stock market second. The depth of the depression was could be placed in 1933 when the stock market bottomed.
Most will say the great depression ended with the start of WWII, but I'd argue it was after WWII.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "ofcourse the crash was bound to come..
I don't know any credible source (libertarian economists excluded)connects the Fed to market crash of 1929. Where's the source?
By the way, what (data) made you think the depression lasted till 1945?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 something is not true or false because some state funded economist says it is true or false, just like someone is not peaceful because he got the nobel peace prize, someone is not true about economy when he gets a nobel prize for economy.
Something is true because it is internally logically consistent and compliant with the facts of reality. I debate ideas on those merits and not on weather how many people you can fund to claim an idea is true.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "something is not true or false .."
Don't change the subject.
What do you mean by end of Great Depression? What's the definition of it? Based on what, unumployment, GDP or average income?
Who said the Fed was the main cause of the great depression?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 I don't know how to debate with someone who has a different standard of truth. Every debate in my view is about the truth or falsehood of a thesis. You have different ideas on that than I do. This results in a situation in which we say opposite things, but we both claim to be right according to our own standard of truth. Opposite or logically contradictory claims in my view are always false.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "I don't know how to debate.."
Don't make an excuse for not having the answer. You never had your own opinion, you read it somewhere and believed it because you just liked it, then decided everything else is stupid
What's so difficult about describing the definition of "end of great depression" if you came up wih your own conclusion?
Your definition of "end of great depression"?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 you are doing something called projection. You say the GD was in the 20s, but also claim the highest unemployment was in 1933. You proceed by haughtily asking me a definition of depression. You claim I can not think for myself and just adopt something I hear and like, but you are projecting here as well. I used to have a very different point of view. The problem with stabbing in the dark at your unknown opponent, is that you only reveal a lot about yourself.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "asking me a definition of depression .."
I said, definition of "end of GD", nor "definition of "GD". I always wonder about that. Where that comes from, who decided it?
And your answer?
By the way, you took my word in the wrong way. It was you, made it sounds like GD happened in 1930s. It happened in 1920s, then spilled into1930s. The recovery started in 1934.
allgoo19 6 months ago
@modelmark
They can merely BELIEVE, and since they know which side their bread is buttered, they figure it's best to side with authority no matter how insane its discourse.
suddenlyitsobvious 5 months ago
@modelmark "some state funded economist .."
By the way, what the comment above really means? You mean college professors are biased because they are all paid partly by the gov. so they have the obligation to make opinion in favor of the gov. policy?
Name a few of those.
It sounds like to me, the economists you are in favor of are the ones paid by the corporate bankers who are in no secret making their opinion in favor of of their profit.
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 like I said:I am only interested in truth and that requires consistency. Yes, if you are paid with stolen money, that will influence your opinion of the thieve. You are in his service, for no one would voluntarily employ you for your nonsense.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "like I said:I am only interested in truth .."
Your truth is about the articles you read, not from the historical occurence then drew your own conclusion. Quite similar to the way religious people do.
Not surprisingly, they think all the scientific evidence are nonsense too.
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 There is no such thing as 'your truth' and 'my truth', there is only truth and that is what you debate about. When you state:"Your truth is about the articles you read", that is an assertion. I can do nothing with assertions. Just postulating an assertion as truth is what religious people do. I count you among them. They state 'my bible is truth' and others postulate 'my koran' is truth. My standard of truth is that reality is consistent and so must truth be consistent.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark
You still can't tell your own version of the definition of "end of Great Depression"?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 In the recovery in 1934 you call the end of the GD, unemployment never dropped below 14% and in 1938 GNP falls by 4.5% and unemployment rises to 19%. I do not consider that to be the end of the GD. Stuffing everyone in an army, I also do not count. I'd say it is something like unemployment below 10% for a year. But even if you have 10 year unemployment of 15%, one year of 8% and 5 years of 15%, I do not have a fundamental problem tying these periods together either.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "In the recovery in 1934 you call the .."
There's already answer for that if you look a little deeper. This means it's the first time you looked ino this subject? And you make fun of a college professor who has more credential than you?
Amazing!
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 I'v read a lot about it, what you are doing is not debating in my book. It is just trolling and, arguments from authority, shaming. I have also debated a lot about it and can detect someone who is willing to debate on first principles, from someone who is .. not. Credentials are not a proof of truth to me, no philosophical principle states:those who have credential hold the truth. If you think so, you must yourself be sensitive to authority in quest for truth, good luck.
modelmark 6 months ago
@modelmark "Credentials are not a proof of truth to me.."
Have you tried to have acknowledgement from academia, by publishing, submitting a report etc?
If not, your opinion hasn't been challenged, which means yours is no different from anonymous blog on the net. On the other hand, professors like you see in the video whose opinions are always beind subject of criticism.
Then you say it doesn't matter? Lack of logic?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 For someone who blindly follows authority, my opinion is indeed not different from any other in any blog on the internet. There was a man called Gallileo and he said the earth was rotating around the sun and not the other way around. All authorities who published a ton of work, claimed he was wrong. Yet he was right. Authority and acceptance is no proof of truth. If it is to you, you are just an empty vat for someone else's ideas.

I think that time will come back and it will overshoot on the other side.
modelmark 5 months ago
@modelmark
How many people will have 2 kg of gold though...?
suddenlyitsobvious 5 months ago
@suddenlyitsobvious I just look at gold, since you need a measuring stick independent of fiat crashing currencies. If you look at the Dow in gold, there has not been a recovery since 2000, the whole thing was fiat inflation phony recovery. Measured in gold, it was down all the way. Housing was the last mega bubble with everyone fully committed, I think it has more to fall and gold more to rise. I also think the Dow will sell for an ounce of gold.

Treat them like spoilt children!
ssesf 1 year ago

FRSFreeStateES 1 year ago

Another liberal word is "Racism" its defined by the left as something that occurs only by whites towards any and all minorities, "Minorities another made up word to make some people feel disadvantaged

but you are wrong my fellow economist Greece is having a large inflation because multinationals that are oligopolies can maintain increased prices while smaller Greek companies close down.

This is guy is dismissing calls for wage cuts as 'right wing' and crazy.
What's wrong with a bloated Government downsizing and living within it's means?
He talk about the risk of 'deflation'. Deflation means prices would go down, which is exactly what Greece needs.
People should stop thinking that an economy's purpose is to circulate paper money.
It's not. It's the exchange of goods and services.
imre1000 1 year ago
@imre1000 There's nothing apriori wrong with having a large government; that's not what caused the crisis. What caused the crisis is that Greece wanted a large government, but DIDN'T WANT TO PAY for it.
So they got deep into debt. Eventually they hit a wall, they could not legally borrow more money and be a member in the euro currency. Instead of being honest and embracing some combination of higher taxes and spending cuts they committed accounting fraud.
soylentgreenb 1 year ago
@soylentgreenb, large Governments are a burden on the private sector as they produce very little and rely on tax payers to feed and clothe them etc.
There's a reason that almost all Governments are now in debt. They tax, borrow and spend too much, and produce very little.
This video explains it pretty well: /watch?v=DdXdQei5Bws
It's mostly about the US, but applies to most Western countries too
imre1000 1 year ago
@imre1000 I agree that most of what government does is harmful, but there is a different between a bad choice and an illegitimate choice.
soylentgreenb 1 year ago
@soylentgreenb - did you watch the video? /watch?v=DdXdQei5Bws
He's not suggesting that the aim of big Government is malicious, just that it has very bad consequences in almost every case.
imre1000 1 year ago
The economist states that cuts would "be a burden on the people". Well, duh.
Greece, just as the US, needs to suffer cuts and a reduced standard of living. If this means dissolution of pensions and having to compete in a non-unionized job market, so be it. The Frenchman is obviously a Keynesian subscriber and feels continued spending and entitlement will buy Greece its way out of ruin.
I'm with Germany (which is a top GDP and exporting country) on this one: efficiency before aid.
mccask13 1 year ago
Problem = euro too high Germany cant export competatively
Solution= devalue euro
Is it possible? Yes international markets lose trust in euro unorthodox way of weakening the euro. Greece caught up in this on a large extent of its own doing but nicely set up by Germany as an easy scapegoat.
Result Greece goes bankrupt= cant pay its creditors = tens of thousands of Germans out of work Greece owes billions to German and US military industries not a rosy situation for us all!
contsap 1 year ago
@mccask13 If you live above your means for a period of time, there will come a period of time where you will be forced to live below your means.
This is blindingly obvious in relation to an individual household, but apparently once we are talking about governments this obvious truth somehow becomes "right-wing nuttery" and what we need is even more deficit spending and inflation(which is nothing more than a stealthy way to cut wages and repudiate part of the debt).

The solution for Greece is to revert back to there ancient history and sail off towards Rome and destroy Rome, take their gold, and make their people into slaves. Build a huge coliseum so the people can watch the slaves fight and wager bets. The country can impose a tax on the bets and balance their budgets.
pongman 1 year ago 7
This is no good solution. Maybe in short term, but it will not be tolerated in the long run

Goldman Sachs needs to pay Greece several billion euros for the damage they caused.
stalkingalizee 1 year ago 3
@stalkingalizee It takes two to tango. Greece's government was not defrauded by Goldman; they colluded with Goldman to hide their debt off balance sheet so they could avoid EU debt limits.
soylentgreenb 1 year ago
Greek government can't sue themselves for acts of a previous adminstration. They can sue Goldman Sachs.
stalkingalizee 1 year ago
@stalkingalizee If your politicians can't be held responsible for the fraud they commit you live in a failed state. It is your civic duty to abolish the government by any means necessary(preferably starting with non-violent means and escalating only if necessary) and replace it with one that can be held accountable.
What Goldman has done is essentially say 'hey, we can help you commit accounting fraud so that you can keep borrowing without being kicked out of the EU.'
soylentgreenb 1 year ago
Greece already got rid of their corrupt government and elected Papandreous. The Simitis government made the deals with Goldman Sachs. Unlike failed states, Greece has a functioning democracy.
stalkingalizee 1 year ago
@stalkingalizee I will believe this when I see former government officials in jail. If the only punishment for criminal, potentially even treasonous behaviour is that you don't get re-elected you live in a failed state.
soylentgreenb 1 year ago
Papandreou is also corrupted and a fucking Jew..He is now turning to the IMF which means that Greek debt will rise and rise..He is one more traitor..Greek people are in prison without any fair political choice..Because both Socialists(pasok) and nationalists(ND) are corrupted..They were talking more and more loans and used dark economic instruments to hide their dirty jobs!Greece was doomed to fall..Our enemies are our politicians..They will pay the double for their ignorance for the Hellenes
HellenicGuardline 1 year ago
If he is a fucking Jew then he is exactly what a bankrupt country needs. Jews are good with money. Hellenic public workers are acting like a bunch of babies. They know they get paid for doing practically nothing . They come to France to bail them out and we are happy to do it but you people need to learn to tighten the belt instead of throwing temper tantrums. Hellas riots way too much.
The planet's done for....
boots920 1 year ago
Where do they get these economists??
There indeed is a form of deflation when demand for items overall is contracting, but printing money always causes inflation.
So right now you have the tremendous money printing inflation offsetting the natural deflation.
This is NOT a good thing.
This in turn forces even more inflationary pressure after the deflation has settled. Which in turn leads to hyper inflation and currency destruction.
