pretty spider, i had a male pink toe, his name was spider man, lol i now have what so far seems to be a female rose hair, her name is rosie, not original but works, lol, shes been very tame for a year, but the last two times ive tried to pick her up shes been acting really pissy, maybe she about to molt, you can she her eating a toad on my site, ive alway wanted a mexican redknee, i think im gonna get one soon, good vid!
Very beautiful spider. I don't agree with keeping these kinds of animals as pets, but nevertheless it's a great specimen that appears well taken care of. Redknees have always been my favorites.
@KirbyStyle2 The only thing I'm worrying about is it's living "conditions" I guess. It's hard to tell whether or not it's 100% comfortable. They don't exactly move around much lol. I live in Scotland, which is obviously pretty cold. But my room is generally warm, and I have a heat pad for it under the tank. I've got the compost stuff just moist enough that it feels slightly cool, I was careful not to make it too damp.
It's hard to know if I have everything set up well lol.
@KirbyStyle2 She's gorgeous. I actually just bought one of these today, I've never owned anything like it before. Nothing exotic, just a rabbit and some fish lol. I don't know exactly how old it is, but it's quite small. Maybe about an inch and a half from leg to leg. It looks female in terms of proportion, but obviously I can't tell one way or the other when it's so young.
But yeah I'm looking forward to seeing it grow up lol. Hopefully I can look after it well enough.
shes beautiful i had a baby one once ive been wanting another one but not so much a baby takes to long for me to see it grow i lose interest easy tired of my snakes so taking them to trade off or sell this weekend at ohio reptile show..hope i can find a medium size one so beautiful yours is huge..
@mrcarrillo20 She is very tame actually. I don't think she has ever shown signs of aggression really. She kicks hairs sometimes and I try not to handle her too often. I could if I wanted but I generally just let her be.
@Disciples0 Yes she has now. As of the video she hadn't but she has molted once since this video was made. That should say something about how fast they grow haha
How long does it take them to reach adult size? Is it worth buying a baby and watching it grow up? I have been trying to decide between a Mexican Red Knee or a Rose Hair. Which would you recommend for a first tarantula?
@brooklynboy521 It takes a Mexican Red Knee roughly 6ish years to reach adult size. Watching them grow up can be a rewarding experience. You may even get lucky and get a female out of it! For your first tarantula A Red Knee may be more interesting for you. Rose hairs get kinda boring. I would also recommened a Chaco golden knee (see my other vid to check her out) or a Pink Zebra Beauty!
@Mad24680 Well you have to go to a reptile show or find a dealer online. If you google arachnoboards you will find a good tarantula community. I would start off with a Rose Hair, Chaco, or pink zebra beauty before you invest in a red knee. Red knees of that size can be very pricey and while docile can still be a little nervous.
@KirbyStyle2 Can I email you I want to talk to you about teh spiders I really want some when im out on my own but I need to ask some questions can you message me your email on here and I can email you my questions?
Where did you get yours and how much was it? I really want one and might get one for christmas. But I have no idea where to find them... I know they sell Rose haired at my local pet store, but I dont want one of those lol. :)
@HatesStupidPeople194 I dont have one as such but from what I know there just really pissed most of the time Like how Kirby got his MRK out they would raise up and show the fangs straght off rather than back away or just ball up. Beautiful spider though :D Just more a pet hole than a pet spider XD
@Omega343666 lol yup after a lot of research i found out just the same thing pet hole, they are fast as shit and super agressive. i bought my first T last week got a beautiful female rose hair who is cute as shit
@HatesStupidPeople194 God there are beautifual ant they. A friend of mine didn't want his Chilie Rose so I got it for free and she is amazing pretty big too puts my MRK to shame (Her being only a baby midn you) But love that Purpleish sheen they have on there back.
@Omega343666 omg right? she is sooo gorgeous very friendly too i handle her every day almost except i think she is in pre molt now so im gonna leave her alone dont want to mess anything of for her shes amazing hey add me as a friend and sub i got a video of her first vid has good picture but sound got messed up second vid has ok vid great sound ill sub back
stupid question probably but i've never had a pet spider. how would you put the spider back in it's enclosure if it doesn't seem to want to get off your arm or hand? would it be safe for the person and the spider just to pick it up?
She is so, so beautiful! I want that exact tarantula that will walk and stay on my arm like that. She looks so soft, like a stuffed animal. I have to say that I've seen many pictures and videos of the Mexican red knee and yours is the most beautiful by far! I want one just like her! Does she have a name?
Cool, I bought my Meixcan Red Knee at Pet Smart for $50 a few years ago. It was only the size of a quarter so I couldn't sex it and decided to take the risk. It ended up paying off and now I have a nice healthy sub-adult female :)
@IRATERAIDER dont over exaggerate. docile or aggressive is dependent on the individual rather than old or new world, yes old worlds are less docile butt the comparison between old world's are extremely vicious and new world are friendly isn't true . and i believe that there are no accounted deaths from a tarantula bite, so lethal is also an exaggeration.
Hey I was just wondering, I have a mexican red knee female and she hasn't been handle in 2 years. I was wondering if she would be aggressive or just scared or what could be the consequences in trying to actually pick this beast up, its 3-5 yrs old. Maybe you know a technique i can use?
i just bought a mexican red knee yesterday. girl at the store said it was a rose hair, and i believed her because i had no knowledge of species of tarantulas.
and found out it was a mexican red knee.
rose hair was $45, and mexican red knee was $200, and pink toe was $70.
so i got my mexican red knee that was supposed to be $200 for $45.
anyhow, im just wondering if you know an easy way to tell if they are male or female, the girl at the store said id have to bring it into a vet and find out.
@xdrpepperx You have to have a really good eye. If it is big enough you can get a pretty good idea just by looking at it. Females are generally vibrant in color, have large abdomens, and lack the little hooks on the end of their front legs. Males are usually but not always, smaller, duller colored, and have the hooks. There is a definate way to find out but I dont recommend it for beginners, but you can flip it upside down and check its abdomen.
@xdrpepperx You can tell by looking at the molted skin ---- there is a flap on the inside just below the chambered lung area.... if the skin below it has a "fold" in it it is a female ... Barron's Guide to TARANTULA has loads of info to include this... HOw big was you tarantula... I only ask b/c I bought a Mexican Red Knee for 55 (but she was a tiny spiderling)... If you go to reptile shows and buy them young - expect to pay 45-70 for most of the exotic ones... The larger (more estbls more
@xdrpepperx 45 for a rose hair is a lot. I remember I got mine when I was 12 years old for around 15 bucks. That same spider went on to live for about 12 years. A few days ago I bought another one for 30. Seems like the price went up
@xdrpepperx If the male is fully mature he will have spurs on the front two legs as well. They are WONDERFUL tarantula's! I owned one a while back that I purchased as a spiderling, was supposed to be female, I found out it was male once it was mature, it also was more aggressive than it should have been
@xdrpepperx ok someone who knows what they are talking about should answer this. wait till it sheds its skin or while handling, then look at the abdomen, on the underside the lungs will look like little pockets, then near to the carapace (where the legs are) there will be a slit, like a regular lady but side ways horizontal not vertical.
if it doesnt have that and thee pedipalps (smallest legs at the front) look bigger like boxing gloves its a male
@odstarmor557 i read alot of studies in fear, the fear can be over come if you came into contact with what scares you. maby getting one can get you over ur fear
omg that thing is BEAUTIFUL i can see what you meen by a bit skitish though but these things are just so easy to fall in love with im getting one if my girlfriend lets me :D :P
@HiiTmaNN187 trick is not to be scared and just pick them up unless it shows signs of aggresivness like showing you its fangs or rubbing haires of its abdomen
Wow, that is a beautiful specimen I am considering my first tarantula, but have not decided which one to buy. The Red Knee is on the list, but not my first choice because of their tendency to flick hair.
Your mexican Red Knee is a true beauty. They are amazing and beautiful animals. I love watching them when they walk slowly. These spiders got such an elegant way of walking, at least that's my opinion.
Hey. I'm planning to buy a brachypelma smithi aka mexican red knee. I have a 30x30x30cm terrarium, but what should I use to cover the floor, to heat and to illuminate the terrarium? btw beautiful spider
Hey. I'm planning to buy a brachypelma smithi aka mexican red knee. I have a 30x30x30cm terrarium, but what should I use to cover the floor, to heat and to illuminate the terrarium?
@myaccountpro Tarantulas like this only bite as a very last resort. You'd really have to be annoying it, like poking at it constantly and frightening him/her. They normally retreat, then if they can't they'll raise their front legs in a defensive posture.
If a Tarantula bit you, it's fair to say you would have been doing something really stupid with it. Just be nice and slow and gentle and they are fine.
@tarantulaguy1998 mainly crickets, meal worms. Mainly small spiders as pets eat 2 crickets per week. Larger ones eat as much as 6 crickets per week. Plus, u must make sure what u feed them is "gut loaded" meaning well fed. So ur spider can get all the nutrients. U dont have2 worry of overfeeding. Spider will eat according to his/her needs. + sometimes they just wont eat and can survive for months w/out. Hope this helped.
I have 2 cobalts (breeding pair) They just kinda stay mean. I have yet to see one thats not bipolar. I like the Smithi tho. I Need to get another one of these. I had a male at one time, but he passed on.
Cobalt Blues r cool..........they have a B.E.A. Utiful shade of blue on em. Howd you get one dude? I kno there pretty difficult to keep, as wikipedia says
Between the Red Knee & the Chilean Rose you almost have to buy both they are so beautiful yet menacing at the same time. I can't decide on my 1st one next month.
Ok Im shit scared of spiders with long legs that are rly rly fast. But this spider is just so damn cute :D Its almost like a little stuffed animal >.< Are they always so calm?
@KirbyStyle2 I seen one at the mall that costs almost like $300-$400 what the fuck just for a fucking tarantula that sits there in a tank doing nothing but shit >:3
@MRFEDORGEO i've read opinions from people on a few different websites here and there with people saying the red knee is a little easier for a first-timer. I'm not sure how true it is, but i likes em. :D
@MRFEDORGEO I'm no expert, I was just looking into eventually getting a tarantula too. :) I hope what i said turns out to be accurate, but don't base anything just on me! I could be wrong D:
I'm thinking of getting one just like yours. A female, since they seem to live longer than the males. I've done my research and all but now I have no idea where to get one of these beauties! Could you help me out?
@kentd600 Mexican redknees are are one of the most popular tarantulas, so most pet shops will have them, or be able to get one easily. It is best to get a female, as the males will spend their life trying to escape to mate, not a very happy life being a sexually frustrated dude....
I've done my research and I think I'd like a tarantula similar to yours. A Mexican Redknee female. Since they seem to live longer than the males. Anyway. Now that I've done the research I have no idea where to get one. Could you help me?
Hi, I'm thinking of getting a red knee as my first tarantula but I have a few questions. When handling them do they bite often? What is the reaction to their bite? Do the hairs that 'new world' tarantulas kick off have a bad effect on human skin? Finally, how fast are they when they want to move? Thankyou in advance.
Is a good choise to start with a red knee mexican or u can also start with a pink toe yarantula n they are cheap to abouth 20 to 30 n the red knee baby is like 30 n adult one goes for abouth 150
Hey i was thinking about getting a tarantula, especially a redknee and was wondering if they are not good first tarantula pets. If not, could you recommend an easy to care for tarantula? Also, do they bite often?
I got my enclosure today, There's about a 2" substrate below and about a 5" substrate where the hide is, is that ok? Can I use a bottle cape for water bowl?.. Check my video out if you don't understand my crappy speech :P
@paulilicious94 Sure, that all sounds good. I would recommend just buying a rock dish tho that is shallow. The cap will need re filling to often. Im assuming that this is actually larger than a baby however. If it is a baby then it is fine.
Can you buy them in any pet store or certains I might get one but are they pricy I want to get 1 how old will a spider be if you want to buy one around 20 dollars
@BrutalxSkater I wouldnt count on one being in a petstore, if I was you I would look for a reptile show. Thats how you get them cheapest and best quality in honesty. Just find a good breeder. Also I dont think you will find one that cheap unless it's a sling? I would just for for a sub adult to adult red knee because they can take up to 6 years to be full sized.
was just wondering how meny times a week i should feed my mexican red knee? the place i got her from said every 2 or 3 days but the place i get the crickets from said to feed her every day so im a bit confused.
@gem1984xxxxx Everyday??? I feed mine no more than once a week. They can go much longer than that even. 6-7 crickets a week should be fine depending on the size and if it finishes them all.
pretty spider, i had a male pink toe, his name was spider man, lol i now have what so far seems to be a female rose hair, her name is rosie, not original but works, lol, shes been very tame for a year, but the last two times ive tried to pick her up shes been acting really pissy, maybe she about to molt, you can she her eating a toad on my site, ive alway wanted a mexican redknee, i think im gonna get one soon, good vid!

Hey Kirby, you ever considered to get a Greenbottle blue?
queggy1 1 year ago
Your mexican Red Knee is a true beauty. They are amazing and beautiful animals. I love watching them when they walk slowly. These spiders got such an elegant way of walking, at least that's my opinion.

Are females more aggressive than male tarantulas?

is the bite poisonous?
WhatIsThatGuyDoing2 1 year ago
@WhatIsThatGuyDoing2 Yes and no. It is poisonious , but to humans it is exactly the same as a bee sting and even then red knees are really doscile.
The only threat a red knee poses is when it flings it's hairs.

She's beautiful. I've been considering getting one this week - either the Red Knee or the Chilean Rose.
Staratino 1 year ago
what stops them from biting you? because i really want one but i'm afraid it would bite me
myaccountpro 1 year ago
@myaccountpro Tarantulas like this only bite as a very last resort. You'd really have to be annoying it, like poking at it constantly and frightening him/her. They normally retreat, then if they can't they'll raise their front legs in a defensive posture.
If a Tarantula bit you, it's fair to say you would have been doing something really stupid with it. Just be nice and slow and gentle and they are fine.

What do you feed your ts

@tarantulaguy1998 Crickets
KirbyStyle2 1 year ago
@KirbyStyle2 i feed mtn small lizards and nousy as F crickets lol nice video m8
lewisf726 1 year ago
@tarantulaguy1998 mainly crickets, meal worms. Mainly small spiders as pets eat 2 crickets per week. Larger ones eat as much as 6 crickets per week. Plus, u must make sure what u feed them is "gut loaded" meaning well fed. So ur spider can get all the nutrients. U dont have2 worry of overfeeding. Spider will eat according to his/her needs. + sometimes they just wont eat and can survive for months w/out. Hope this helped.

@MRFEDORGEO i've read opinions from people on a few different websites here and there with people saying the red knee is a little easier for a first-timer. I'm not sure how true it is, but i likes em. :D
:o the white knees are very pretty, too.

@zenvidar i think Brazilian white knee is a bit more agresive...but these 2 are very nice T.TANK YOU !!

Hey,
I'm thinking of getting one just like yours. A female, since they seem to live longer than the males. I've done my research and all but now I have no idea where to get one of these beauties! Could you help me out?
kentd600 1 year ago
@kentd600 Mexican redknees are are one of the most popular tarantulas, so most pet shops will have them, or be able to get one easily. It is best to get a female, as the males will spend their life trying to escape to mate, not a very happy life being a sexually frustrated dude....
InsanePictureFrame 1 year ago
Hey!

Sfvboy1 1 year ago
Hey i was thinking about getting a tarantula, especially a redknee and was wondering if they are not good first tarantula pets. If not, could you recommend an easy to care for tarantula? Also, do they bite often?
Xemptuous 1 year ago
I got my enclosure today, There's about a 2" substrate below and about a 5" substrate where the hide is, is that ok? Can I use a bottle cape for water bowl?.. Check my video out if you don't understand my crappy speech :P
Thanks 4 ur help
Paul
paulilicious94 1 year ago
@paulilicious94 Sure, that all sounds good. I would recommend just buying a rock dish tho that is shallow. The cap will need re filling to often. Im assuming that this is actually larger than a baby however. If it is a baby then it is fine.

Can you buy them in any pet store or certains I might get one but are they pricy I want to get 1 how old will a spider be if you want to buy one around 20 dollars
BrutalxSkater 1 year ago
@BrutalxSkater I wouldnt count on one being in a petstore, if I was you I would look for a reptile show. Thats how you get them cheapest and best quality in honesty. Just find a good breeder. Also I dont think you will find one that cheap unless it's a sling? I would just for for a sub adult to adult red knee because they can take up to 6 years to be full sized.
KirbyStyle2 1 year ago
was just wondering how meny times a week i should feed my mexican red knee? the place i got her from said every 2 or 3 days but the place i get the crickets from said to feed her every day so im a bit confused.
gem1984xxxxx 1 year ago
@gem1984xxxxx Everyday??? I feed mine no more than once a week. They can go much longer than that even. 6-7 crickets a week should be fine depending on the size and if it finishes them all.
KirbyStyle2 1 year ago
@KirbyStyle2 i thought every day seemed a bit much lol. thank you for the advice
