The grappling arts have revolutionized fighting, and I think a lot of old material is still in the phase of adaptation.
The fancy stuff is VERY situational. By that I mean you are either good enough to cause the situation, or you are not :P This is also a fundamental concept that most people are not taught. Don't react, create the situation to apply technique.
However, ask them to put a vid of them doing such moves in sparring on you tube and you get all kinds of excuses. One told me the reason I'd not seen it on you tube was because there is a lot dross out there!!
when you say blocks you have to remember that in filipino martial arts a block is a attack to your opponents stricking arm. As in real life thay would not be sticks but bolos (a.k.a) machetes. As for disarms if someone trys to disarm you just punch them in the face simple thats what filipino martial arts is all about in a sport or real fight situation

whats the point of having the sticks? the thing about stick fighting is it substitutes for the blade, thus you respect the cut/strike. Here you just ignore the guy hitting you 50 times with the rattan and take him down and submit him... so whats the point of having the stick to begin with? make it a heavier stick so your strikes mean something, or respect the cut... what am I missing?

skill of the fighter is "not" to get hit. taking strikes to the back, leg, arm, etc, while you are doing a double leg takedown is fine, as long as you understand its play/sport and not prep for bladed confrontation. I've been doing this since 1999, wekaf head gear and rattan, same as this video, sometimes we respect the "blade" sometimes just like this. It's a matter of perspective. When is the next one and where? I'm in SC and VA.

There are some dog brothers videos out there with some extremely technical stuff going on in live fights.
