Uploaded a vid. on YouTube, yeah kid. When it had sounds, it be makin' the rounds. Now, not so much notice, yeah, YouTube's a scrotus, they effed up the sound, ain't nowhere to found. and I got... The YouTube upgrade blues, since the sound of my video went AWOL. I got the YouTube upgrade blues, they effed up my video, y'all.
Well, first, whatever you do has to make melodic sense. All I'm doing is changing the root of the chord, either raising it, or lowering, it by a half-step. The creates a natural lead-in to the next chord, that wants to be resolved melodically.
For example, the A7 chord at the 5th fret: The bass note is A, on the 6th string. Raising it a half-step to the A#, the chord becomes an A#dim, which is resolved by dropping the whole (fingering) chord a half-step, becoming the D7.
I have no idea where that whistling came from... annoying, isn't it? Made with a digital camera, so no moving parts, and not on all the clips. Maybe my girlfriend (now ex) was making tea!

... was over the character count...
Dropping the bass note, A, to G# gives you a D7b5, which in turn is resolved by raising the whole chord up half-step, back to the A7.
I hope this helps... I'm not a trained guitar instructor, and this is probably the best I can explain it...

crazyjitter12 3 years ago
all down strokes
MichaelJamesRichard 2 years ago
it's pretty standard for jazz, particularly big band. try all downstrokes, muting the upstrokes. also, try only muting the upstrokes of 2 and 4.

I think I've got about 10 years on the guitar. Though, even with those those extra years, I've never had to have my neck reset...
