I wrote a long reply, but it never showed up. I'll try again...) I have problems seeing my own progress as well! When I practice, I focus on improving various techniques depending on what I need and want to get better at. When I get stuck in a song I'm trying to learn, because my syncronization fails in a fast solo for example, I keep practicing my syncronization with different licks which I make up myself (or whatever) 'til I get it down! ;)
