in order to put spin on the ball you have to basically hit as an announcer would say "all ball" and you dont put it forward you put it more back in your stance

To hit "down on the ball" you gotta play it BACK IN YOUR STANCE, not forward by the belt-buckle. The more forward you play it the club will catch the ball on the upswing motion which is not we want. FUKIN MORONS all of them, there are very few good instructors on youtube but that does not suprise me, since they want you to PAY MONEY to learn anything. The more confused they make you the faster you will run to get help......

if you really want to spin the golf ball have clean grooves and a 3-5 piece ball. mainly keep your strernum centered over the ball as well. also try to nip the smallest section of the ball, it will make the ball roll up the face as fatty mcgee said up there in the video. hope this helped. i am a kid by the way.

the reason you need clean grooves and a softer feel ball, the ball needs to compress into the grooves and rip through the ball creating spin...incase anyones wondering...the important thing with generating spin is to also work on ball striking, once you have that sussed it will come naturally.

It really helped me a lot with this shot when i was hitting off a rug/carpet in my house using some plastic practice balls... then that way you could see where the club brushed the rug/carpet... it helped with being more consistent hitting down on the ball

A more important point to take from this video is that in oreder to hit the shot correctly you have to be regularly hitting the ball well i.e. be a particularly good golfer other wise you will end up thinning the ball or taking too much of a divot and barely making contact with the ball. Accuracy and commitment to the shot will allow you to put spin on the ball with the instruction given.
