This is such a bad movie. Snot nose criminals getting their own command, a villain so dumb that he makes Bevies and Butthead look like Steven Hawking, a teacher sleeping with a student does not tolerate otherstudents cheating on a no win test (It's Frank Burns from M.A.S.H.!), a super ship that can't take one tinny ship hitting it but can wipe out 2 armadas & Black holes that suck in everything but spits out ships into the past then just disappear. People actually like this shit?!
but either way this looks good with the effects and all but i dont know wot star trek is about can any1 tell me? i always thought it was but this could change my mind
You should go and see it you will find out what Star Trek is about. The film is suppose to start from the beginning. There are a few things in it that would only humor Trek fans but JJ Abrams made it for everyone to be able to follow. It's a really great film. The visuals in it are fucking fantastic. JJ did justice to the original series. If you aren't into Sci-fi and only want to see it for the man candy, you won't enjoy it.

I heard that the Austin premiere was met with enthusiastic reviews. Apparently, the movie rocks. As long as it respects the old, I'll embrace the new. These are iconic characters, and a great universe to play in. It's hard to mess it up, but God help JJ Abrams if he does...Trekkies are notoriously unforgiving, and not just a little bit crazy. Trust me, I should know.
I saw the movie on friday. I never really saw the old Star Trek, but I'm very familiar with The Next Generation. I can tell you that there are several nods to the old series that even a casual fan could pick up on. By the same token the movie is also a departure from the old show, meaning they changed some things, but it is explained in the movie why that is. So it builds on the old show as a foundation but sets itself up to go in an original direction
Quite so. I saw it Friday afternoon, and will see it again today. There are obviously things I think could have been added, or subtracted, or changed, but these are minor quibbles. For example, the omission of the character of Gary Mitchell from the first Shatner pilot (considering Mitchell was Kirk's best friend from the Academy), is a little surprising, but not a major problem. Considering the *SPOILER* time-travel angle, it's got an out, but for the most part I loved the movie. A fun ride!
the bad guy says, "James T. Kirk was a great man. But that was another life." Does that mean that he's from the future? The first trailer had old Spock in it.
I do believe it is that very artist. The music is part of what moved me with this trailer. I went on the terk imdb boards and somebody mentioned his name when I mentioned the music.
Movie aside, I think this is possibly the greatest trailer ever created. The movie was good, but couldn't live up the the trailer imo.
