  • I hated tom coverdale with a passion, he looked like a shaved gorilla.

  • @nmcvicker03 fuck you

  • @Radwatsonator wow... I didn't know Tom Coverdale had a youtube account.

  • every player in this game turned out to be a bust, Dixon, Jefferies, Wilcox, Blake and baxter

  • @xxreppinxx614xx lol, your on crack.

  • @xxreppinxx614xx - I wouldn't call Steve Blake a bust. True, he's never starred in the NBA, but since getting picked in the second round (38th overall) of the 2003 draft, he's never be out of work and last year signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Lakers, which shows that he's had value after his great years with the Terps.

Of the rest, Juan Dixon was the biggest disappointment, but boy he had a terrific run at Maryland. Kudos to Gary Williams, for getting the most out of him.

  • Damn! I lived in North Carolina when they won the Championship and BOY was I happy to wear that championship Maryland shirt in school!

    Fuck Duke!

  • This brings back some good memories.

  • i still hate how jay williams got national player of the year that year, yet juan dixon got ACC player of the year, juan got robbed that award. i don't see how you can win national Player of the year if you don't get it in you're conference

  • this is what im talkin about!!! this years seniors with the exception of Gregory are the most uninspired group of seniors iv ever seen at maryland....and it aint Gary's fault you cant measure a mans heart

  • good job terps!!!!

  • This was so awesome. I remember watching this when I was 11 and just losing it when the Terps won.

  • great memories with this highlight

  • i wish i was old enough to experience this moment

  • did it seem to others as it did me that Blake played forever on this maryland team?

  • lol look how young gary looks

  • Easily one of the more forgettable championships in the last decade...really? 64-52? I'm no Duke fan, but watching them play Maryland in the finals would have been a much better game.

  • to bad iu won 74 - 73 go hoosiers!

  • @Bradyhuffer10 maryland won on my tv...

  • @gounc93 against duke

  • Too bad Duke lost to Indiana. Coach K didn't get all the calls as usual.

  • Wish I coulda seen dat game :(. Was busy.

  • You had great teams this year, Kansas, Maryland, Oregon, Indiana, Duke, but did everyone forget the great team that Missouri had that year? C'mon now! These were classic times in College Basketball though. Won't forget 'em for a long time

  • @JHawx909 Totally agree. I remember Mizzou in the Elite Eight. I'll always love college basketball, but it was so much better before all this one and done nonsense. I'd still take it over NBA.

  • maryland terrapins could have one this chamionship but michigan st. had to b a poop

  • @3randomretards4life Look at the run-up we couldve beat Northern Iowa and Tennessee our style couldve outlasted Butler and we know when we play Duke in a big environment you know Maryland is gonna shock everybody

  • fear the turtle!

  • fluke

  • Give it to Dixon

  • hoosiers were shit and didn't deserve to be in that game, it woulda been better to see duke maryland as the final. good revenge for final 4 2001

  • @grayhound119 They were shit? They got to the national championship beating Duke, with no future NBA notables, and no Bob Knight. You can call it a fluke but they weren't "shit" that year obviously.

  • UMD!!!

  • i like maryland just because they hate dook as much as i do

  • @wildabeest4

haha go duke its funny they were not really picked to win it this year because their players are not as good as when they had battier jay will dunleavy boozer haha

  • @wildabeest4 your officially the man

  • @wildabeest4 who doesn't hate duke their overated

  • Duke, Kansas, Maryland and Oregon were the 4 best teams all year. Maryland was a very worthy champion.

  • @TUowl05: I'm a Proud Maryland Terp Fan and this was a Great year but I would put the UCONN Team on that List as well. The Regional Final Game in Syracuse with Maryland vs UConn was one of the Best Games of the Tourney in the 2002 Season.

  • though not a maryland fan...it was definately tense watching dixon and baxter ballin during their college carrer

  • the last shining moment for IU...

  • woot go Terps!

  • No program in recent memory has failed to capitalize of a NT than MD. Sweaty Gary just mailed it in over this one and now all Twerp fans can hope for is a 18-10 type season, an 8th seed, and a meaningless upset or two over Duke and UNC in Jan.

  • i find this comment funny because right now UMD is 21-7 and second in the acc, suck my balls

  • Dixion the king of terps

  • How should've Maryland not gotten a #1? They were a 4 loss team, all to ranked opponets and how the ACC regular season title. The only knock I would say was the semi final exit from the ACC championship. But to say they didn't deserve a #1 is crap, they were easily one of the top teams in the nation.

  • @Ninety2q plus they won the national championship so they obviously were the best

  • uh...they not only were a #1 seed, they were THE #1 overall seed...

  • too bad the terps couldn't sustain this. i thought they were going to consistently challenge duke and the heels for ACC dominance, but apparently gary is pretty lax on the recruiting. oh well. as a heels fan it was still good to see this.

  • well had Chris Wilcox stuck around for his Junior year and improved his draft stock, I think they would've been in the mix again the next season.

  • He was a lottery pick. Why would he have stayed???

  • Wilcox

  • well for a min a thought that he could've been a top 3 pick for the following season, but then I just looked at the 2003 draft. I mean had he led them to another championship and won awards his junior year he might have been a better pick then Darko if scouts saw it that way.

  • one of the best teams of all time 2002 maryland terrapins

  • maryland had good big men, wilcox, and baxter. indiana had no big men, cept for skinny jeffries.

  • Florida was NOT one of the best teams of all time. They never played the best teams in the tourney. In 2006 and 2007, the only decent teams they played were Villanova and UCLA.

Any of the 90s champs would have destroyed Florida.

As for this game, boring as hell because you knew Maryland was going to win with ease.

  • T-E-R-P-S

  • As a KU fan I obviously think KU was the best team even though you guy's beat us. Call it what it is (Biasness), but if we beat you guy's we easily have a national championship. 2002 and 2003 sucked, couldve been back-to-back national champions. But yes you guy's probably were the best team. Oh well.

  • as a die hard terp fan, i want to thank you for your viewpoint. kansas was a great team that year and i also want to thank you for the fact that you admitted that the best team one.

you are one of the view who unbiassedly show your allegiance and speak nothing but the truth.

because i am surrounded by duke fans, rarely do i hear a compliment thrown maryland's way by an opposing team.

thanks again for your sheer honesty, especially as a fan of another school

  • instead is GATORS being back to back national championship this decade!!! GO GATORS...March Madness is great!

  • Haha yes it was, you guy's had one hell of a team that you were lucky to keep together. And I agree, March Madness is awesome.

  • Billy Donovan has the best players money can buy...

  • if thats the case then Bill Donovan is working with a $25 dollar budget...cause Florida players suck right now!

  • @true2KU That KU squad was DEEP. And as a Terps fan trust me, very intimidating watching my team line up against Collison, Gooden, Henrich, Boschee, Miles, Simien, and Langford. That's a lot of talent. It was a good game, def better then Indiana game. I was actually arguing with another KU fan that the 01-02 team was better then the 07-08 team.

  • maryland was the best team that year plain n simple so dont hate UMD 4 life

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • DIXON is a beast

  • I was argueing with a friend the other day on who had the best college basketball team. He's a Florida grad and about 10 years younger than myself. He was saying that the repeat Florida champions were a better team than the 1990-91 UNLV and 2002 Maryland teams. I say no friggin way. Any thoughts?

  • Comment removed

  • i'm a maryland fan so i may be a little biased but i'd say they were on par w/the back-to-back florida teams. although md only won in 02 they did make the final four the previous year and would have had a much better shot at repeating in 03 had wilcox returned. however, the early 90's unlv teams and the late 90's kentucky teams were both better than the md/fla teams if you're looking for two-three year dynasty's, and i'd take the 96 kentucky team over probably anyone over the past 20 years.

  • I don't know about the UNLV teams, but I don't think this Maryland team was as good as Florida's recent back to back. It's terribly difficult to repeat and Florida did with relative ease.

  • it's a lot easier to repeat when everyone returns; florida brought everyone back while maryland graduated 3 starters (dixon, baxter and mouton) and lost wilcox early to the draft. i'd still say md 02 is right up there with either of florida's teams b/c they faced tougher competition. remember maryland was the first team in history to face the highest possible seed in each round until the final game. florida faced two 11 seeds and a 7 seed in 06 and in 07 faced lower seeds up to the final 4

  • thats because they had their starters for 2 years in a row.

  • Maryland didn't deserve a final four? Are you some kind of retard? This wasn't their first final four so I don't know what's going on in that brain of yours. IU got hot and went on a run to the championship game, but they weren't that good and it would have been much better to watch one more Maryland matchup with Duke with everything on the line. But, it was nice to leave Duke outside of the spotlight for the Terps' crowning achievement.

  • They were seeded #1 and they didnt deserve a final four? Thats retard right there... I've got some respect for IU but they better be thankful they've reached the final because they were underdogs that year. There should be no regrets on what they have accomplished that year.

  • I personally feel if Wilcox had stayed another year, that the Terps had a really good shot at repeating. Blake/Nicholas were seniors, they had a solid front court with Holden, Radel, and Jamar Smith. A really good freshmen class. They made it to the sweet 16, but they needed that superstar. Wilcox could've done it, but money does strange things to young men.

  • where are the Tar Heels? I hear they have won the most ncaa i though they WERE always in them lol idk.

  • Darn Roy you win 20 straight games in the regular season but can't win 6 straight when it matters. Bill Self did it

  • This was great. I'm glad I was able to see them win the championship. As stated below, this was their year. It will be awhile before you see another Terps team like this. If only their recruiting was as good as other schools. Tomorrow, watch the Terps handle Fl. State another loss....

  • No one out of both teams were really a factor in the NBA. only one i seen get playing time was wilcox and blake but they dont really do much

  • that was marylands year. Juan Dixon was on fire, steve blake was great, lonnie baxter was a power house, and the team just worked together perfetly. if only they could have been that way nowadays. but I still love maryland! go terps!

  • yeah it wasnt that interesting but it was maryland's year in 2002...indiana happened to make a great run to the final including a sweet sixteen upset over duke, but maryland was due..they beat a uconn team with caron butler and okafor as a sophmore and a kansas team with hinrich and collison who played in the championship the next year...it would of been a lot more interesting to see a maryland/duke final because during that time period they played in some great games

  • Don't forget Kansas also had Drew Gooden, he might have been one of the best PF in college ball that year

  • The 2nd most boring title game I have ever seen.

  • wats #1??

  • The most boring title game I have ever seen was the 2004 NCAA title between UConn and Georgia Tech. That was excruciating to watch.

  • Yeah it had the excitement of a conference title game. Not a national title game.

  • lol, you would say that.

  • I disagree the most boring was in 2006. All the games were blowouts.

  • What a game..the good days of Maryland men's basketball!

  • yah...to bad they suck now...T_T

  • 6 year anniversary today

  • thanks man i was looking for this game, if you have more or the whole game let me know
