I generally put my harness above my head where my butt will be a bit above the level of my foot platform. I would think that would negate the need for this device. It is well thought out and would be a very usefull tool. Unlike SweetTangerine10 who seems to be a usless tool.
@bandmasterjf Your tether is going to increase a couple feet when you fall - like I said before - and this means that you are going to experience death soon. Simply, because you forgot your suspension relief strap at home. Even if you brought it- you better have it on your persons because it aint going to do you no good in a fanny pack yards above you.. and you better not drop it while your trying to hook it up. Even if you do get it snapped behind your back ur STILL STUCK IN THE TREE : )
And bowkillers call themselves "natural predators" bahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaa just let me know when tigers and mountain lion are using all that gadgets to sit in a tree stand with bait and lure to kill an innocent deer for sports.
@bandmasterjf I hunt the swamps in Florida....NO RECEPTION. Good luck! We didnt need cells before, we sure as hell dont need em now. No your limits and stay safe in the woods!
yea Huster Safety System has a sepreate harness that when after you fall you clip it to a clip by your butt and stick your foot in a loop where you can push up and pretty much stand so the blood keeps moving thru the legs...HSS vests are the way to go not these.
The Rescue One CDS II also has the suspension relief strap you're talking about- all harnesses on the market have to have this strap as required by the Tree Stand Manufacturers Association... Although, the strap doesn't completely solve the problem of suspension trauma deaths- the Rescue One CDS II does. You can hang there in that Hunter Safety System if you want - Rescue One CDS II customers dont have to. : )
@mitchwood32 yea id like to see someone who has been in the stand for 12 hours in december be able to hold onto that cord and drop themselves safley to the forest floor....better off just getting to your sticks or back on the stand....not james bonding it after you fall
That was the whole point of developing the Rescue One CDS II- Sometimes people fall out of their stand and are unable to reach their steps (Or dont have any- climbing stand) or climb back onto their stand. Most dont realize- but when using a Hunter Safety System or any other safety harness with break away sections in the tether, when one falls, that tether extends another 2 to 3 feet longer than it originally was depending upon harness model.
This distance gained in tether length often is the difference between life and death. People are found every year dead hanging in full body harnesses because they simply didn't know about suspension trauma. Dont just hang there! Live to hunt another day! Using the Controlled Descent System is extremely easy to do - It doesn't matter how cold or numb you are: you will be able to use it easily regardless.
@mitchwood32 Was wondering if you could give me the source of your info for people being found dead every year in a safety harness. I have not heard of one story of a hunter being found dead in a harness.
@mitchwood32 very good point.....hahaha....been there you should be able to pull yourself up with one hand haha....either way as long as guys are safe up in treestand wear some kind of vest....
how can i get one of these? please Pm me thanks!

Remember, you have just fallen out of a tree and adrenaline is now being released in your body

I use the HSS too and wont change, but I can see how letting yourself down would be handy. Especially where you have no cell service or radio.
