I like your interpretation of voices and the media and I think research is always good no matter what you want to know or any prejudice you have. If you are interested in something, or if you have question research can be the best way to help with that, and like voices the more research you do on the experience the less scary the experience will hopefully become. Just knowing that others hear voices can be very helpful indeed and cane be the first step...
Glad it made sense to you and helped you understand what it is like to hear voices, but of course my experience is just one experience amongst who knows how many, have you sought out other accounts?.
I hear my voices like it is a real person speaking to me, and only through knowing them I can tell when it is them speaking and hopefully not give them too much attention or time as that can become fuel to them....
..instead of questioning those and what they are saying and replace this through one's own investigation of the matter? Well just some thoughts to what you've said... Take care
..one must be even harder to cope with as they might seem less possible to control. I hope that you find (or have already found) a way to sort of control those (negative) voices. You've also laid out very well how the media is dealing with it and how important it is for everyone to not just listen to those newspapers but do their own research and build up a real understanding of actually issue. Isnt this somehow like hearing voices and believing them, when they say negative things...
Thank you for explaining so understandably how it is to hear voices. The way you explained it enabled me to relate on a more personal level to imagine how it must be like to hear voices. I know how it is to think negative or to be overwhelmed by memories of the past that make you feel bad - which is bad enough to cope with - in particular when you don't realise that you actually have these thoughts and they then grind you down. Do actually hear these words like someone else would say them to...
I have a quite supportive voice on board. Her name is Alexandria. According to her, she arrived "on a wave of music" during 2004 [with an old name, Rene Perpetula], and she helps me, especially when I feel isolated or find little motivation to do my university studies. It's like having a very close sister! I haven't talked about her with other people, besides a couple of close friends and some counsellors, but it feels better when they accept me for who I am, and not prejudge me.
@CathySander Hello, I am glad that you have a supportive voice, and I think it is great that she is like a sister to you. Alexandria sounds like a blessing, especially when you need a little push. I hope that with time you will feel able to talk to more people about your experience without worrying about what people will think.
I would like to ask if you only hear voices or experience other things as well? I have also for 4 1/2 years. Society hates people that hear voices when they know yet most of the people I deal with don't know and they love me! Nice video.
You are very brave to admit it. It's one thing I don't ever like saying out loud. I like that you have not lost your positive state of mind despite negative voices in the background. If we know ourselves, no voice could ever tell us otherwise.
Also voices who comment about over cooked potates should be happy they don't have to eat the potatoes and let you eat them in peace....quite would be nice too
@SmileNow2 I must say that made me giggle about the potatoes!
I think that when more people start saying it and be proud they have said it things will change for the better.
Positive state of mind is questionable I am very negative really,
I see this experince as something to help the community of voice hearers more then myself.
Having ten voices can make the whole knowing who you are aspect a littlehard at times, but you are right that is something we need to hold on to.Be proud and strong!
...Keep in contact and let me know any ideas you have. I would put a smiley but my keyboard is misbehaving today.

@phrostbytex2 I also see things, usually nasty things, and I also feel my hallucinations too. I have hallucinations beat me up for example.
Sorry to hear about your struggle with the voices.
Sometimes friends and family can surprise you when you tell them and actually not care either way because you will always be you.
Thank you for the comment about the video.
If you ever feel like talking message me, or you can join my forum.
Stay strong and keep smiling.
