  • thats awesome i live close to nugget lake park i go there quit often !! pretty cool little place. im planing a trip to black hills this spring !

  • Awesome! Can't wait to try this. I'm addicted to "Gold Rush Alaska" on Discovery channel. But why no "money shot" at the end of this video, showing how much gold you got?

  • @PistolPackingPatriot Not sure why I didn't get a "money shot" for this video. I think it was one of my first and I was pretty new to making movies for YouTube. Good luck in your search for Wisconsin Gold!!!

  • hi were did you get the permits for prospecting i'm haveing a hard time getting one the dnr here in marquette county is giveing me a run around ?

  • @trushooter2u Not sure about Marquette county but around here, we don't need permits for non-motorized prospecting. All I do is sluice and pan around here. You talking dredging?

  • hi and thanks for the respond... no i told every person with the dnr that all i wanted to do is some panning. i"m a noobie at this and wanted to try it out.i thought it would be the coolest thing in world....what they keep telling me is that it goes from county to county and that i would need to get with a dnr worden from each county and where i'm going to pan..most of them dont have a clue about prospecting in wisconsin..and now the have me playing phone tag..from wautoma to montello

  • @trushooter2u I hear ya. You mention gold around here and they look at you like yer crazy! From what I've heard, it's illegal to pan in state and county parks unless you get permission from the landowner. Luckily, the couonty park I go to has given permission to anybody who wants to pan (no motors). I don't see why more parks do this, it's not hurting anyone, and getting more park fees to the county... go figure. Good luck in your search!

  • @Scratchthejeepguy ALSO THEY TOOK THE THRILL OUT OF IT FOR ME...ONLY BECAUSE THE LACK OF KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.... BUT THANKS I THINK I'M GOING TO LEARN HOW TO FACETING GEMS SEEMS TO BE LESS OF A PAIN TO DO THEN PROSPECTING FOR GOLD..THANKS DNR OF WISCONSIN YOU SUCKED THE FUN OUT OF IT....

  • U need A permit ($50) on "state" property.. i assume that's everything not privately owned.

    hxxp://legis.wisconsin.gov/rsb/code/nr/nr045.pdf

Chapter 45.04 General rules. sub. 3

  • @wssdrizzt the link to the pdf does not work and here do you see in that rule that you need a $50 permit on state property? I see where it shows the limits on how much material you can remove but nothing on a $50 permit. I always thought a state park sticker was all you needed for access?

  • @greywolf54755 I remember reading it was $50 somewhere.. have not seen that was "official"

just Google, WI NR 45.04 General rules.

    (1) State property. 1- a. Rocks, minerals or fossil materials may be collected for noncommercial purposes, such as educational uses and personal collections, by hand or using a hand held rock hammer or similar device in accordance with the terms of a written permit issued by the manager of the property.

  • say is gold magnetic?

  • @JHoward393 No gold's not magnetic. but gold is often found within black sand, which is magnetic.

  • what about crawford county since my neck of the woods is a driftless area.

  • nice set up man, also great job with the dam.its hard work a but its gotta be done

  • do u think there would be any in the winnebago area??

  • @FTWsports Not sure.... There's teeny tiny amounts of gold all over the place, only way to know is to grab a pan and give it a shot!

  • @Scratchthejeepguy . What brand is your sluice box? I'm looking to get one but I want one that is good for fine gold. I am too in areas where mainly just fine gold exists. Are you happy with the fine recovery? I see a lot of people like the expanded metal over miners moss for the fines. Have you tried any others?

  • do all streams in wisconsin have gold??

  • @FTWsports Not all, not even most I'd say.... and when you do find it, it's pretty tiny. But we have fun.

  • wow that is some rich dirt! Are you willing to say how much gold you found that trip?

  • @Canarah Not much... Not enough even to weigh. I probably ended up with around 50 tiny specs of gold in about 2 hours worth. That's pretty common for that area.

  • I'd love to try this with my daughter, great weekend bonding time, im from rockford, IL . could you teach me how to do this ? great video btw.

  • Watch out, i bet the DNR would like to give you a ticket for obstructing a navigable water way with your little dam

  • @wssdrizzt I always remove my little dam when I'm done. I don't think the 2 hours I do it for is going to hurt anything.

  • @Scratchthejeepguy How often do you clean it out

  • @SuperJetski1

I usualy only have a couple hours of time at the creek so I run for about 2 hours, then clean out, and process my cons at home by panning and using my Miller table.

  • Near Nugget Lake County Park.

  • What part of Wisconsin is this located?
