That's the same thunder sound effect used in storm scenes during the 60's and 70's.

I caught the end of this movie on Turner Classic Movies. That storm scene is pretty scary. Come to think of it, that storm looks more like a hurricane to me. It's no wonder why Natalie Wood developed her longlife fear of water.

So this is the movie where she developed her lifelong fear of water; the fear that eventually cost her her life. I heard about this on some documentary about her life. That's a shame. She was such a beautiful woman.
